Does anyone know of a Texas Yorkie Meet-Up? I would travel...if reasonable.

Me too as long as it's not too far away. Zack doesn't enjoy riding in the car. He shakes and cries. I'm going to start taking him on short rides around the neighborhood to get him used to it.

There is a Houston Meetup every month at Millie Bush Dog Park. I think it's the 4th Saturday of every month. Everyone just gets together and visits while our dogs run around and play... nothing real organized as food, games, etc.

I think it would be great to have a large Texas meetup. Anyone open to starting that? I'd be happy to help.

oh I would rather go to England and make a vacation out of it. And oc course I would have to stop by the Burberry outlet.

I was online looking around and there was a state that had a Yorkie festival...I don't know if they do it anymore, but I wish we had seomthing like that here in Texas. It would be "something" to organize something like that, but it would be fun.

I live in Dallas, and wouldn't mind going down to Houston...but we will be moving to Austin soon, so the drive to Houston will not be very long.

See how it worked out...my move to Austin was purely to be closer to Houston so that my babies can go to the Yorkie meet-up!

Would love too... not sure if possible, though. Woud not like to have Buddy on a plane, heard a scarry story once that they forgot to put the heating on for he animals travelling in with the luggage, and the dogs died cos it got so cold up in the air... scary.

We bought Maggie a pet car seat when she was only 8 weeks old. She has loved it since day one. Got it at Petsmart. She can see out the window, and had never cried. Might want to look into one for Zack.

The one that we got Maggie has an adjustable lead clip that clips on their collar or harness. Gives them room to put their little feet up on the edge, stand, or lay down. Of all the things that Maggie has, this is by far the best purchase we have ever made.

Thanks for the suggestion...I bought one of those car seats for small dogs at Petsmart today. It cost $20. I installed it in less than a minute and took little Zackie on a drive through the neigborhood. He loves his new car seat. He looked so happy in it. No anxiety at all. The best thing I've bought yet. Now we can go on trips together! Woohoo!

I am so happy that Zack likes his new car seat. If it's like Maggie, I also will put one of her favorite small toys in there with her, if we are going to be driving for over an hour. Happy Traveling To You Both.

That's a great idea to put one of his toys in his sporty new car seat. It has pockets on the side so you can store all kinds of things...his leash, toys, treats, water bowl etc.

I'm taking Zack out for a neighborhood drive everyday so he can really get use to his car seat. He loves it so far. He's small enough (4.5 lbs) so he can curl up in it for a nap.

Am I a crazy mom or what?

I took Maggie out for a ride this morning too. But then one of the stops was to the vet. She got her rabies, 1st kennel cough vac, and nails clipped. She is a whopping 3.14lbs. now. Didn't want her to think that our trip to town was for doctor only, so we made a few more rounds. Each time we headed for the next destination, she would sit still in her carseat while I hooked the safety clip. She would watch out the window every stop and turn. When we stopped at the next visit, she would sit still while I unhooked her. I just love the carseat. I can't imagine trying to drive with a wiggle worm without one.

Zack is a wiggle worm too...LOL

I noticed while he was in his car seat he would try to climb out so he could be with me. I would gently push him back in and give him a treat each time. Maybe I should tighten up the safety strap some?

I'll try to get a photo of him in his car seat and post it.

For sure shorten the safety lead. If too long, he could jump out and really hurt himself. Make the safety lead just long enough for them to stand, sit, lay down and put their paws on the edge of the carseat. You might want to consider putting the carseat in the backseat. I'm not quite sure about your carseat, but Maggie's says if you have passsenger Air Bags, then place carseat in backseat. I purchased a Child Watch Mirror that clips on my visor, so I can check on her without turning around. The brand name on hers is Outward Hound. It's black with black mesh sides. It has a black mesh pocket on the side and a zipper pocket at the front of the carseat.

Thanks for the advice...I'll put him in the backseat and shorten the safety strap. I have the same exact car seat as you. And it's black too! :)

I think the Dallas/Plano meet up is looking for an organizer, pull their website. Let me know if you want to do it, we would love to come!
