UP Date on YT Cook Book Ok guys, the thing is, we are going to need at least 200 books to be sold for us to do this. So I will need to know how many books you are willing to buy, (remember XMas gifts, GE Gifts) and I need to know about how much you are willing to pay. Remember, proceeds will be going to YT & Yorkie Rescue. (both GREAT causes) I'm working with drawlins27, we will be finding a publisher. The more photos we use, the more expensive it will be to have it published. I need to know your thoughts on all of this! We will need a dead line. Specially if we want this done before XMas. I also need to know your thoughts on the Cover. I really like the title "Yorkie Yackers Cook Book" But this is a yorkie family, and I want your input as well. Some have asked to have a contest, and if we do this, then it means taking up more time and delaying the date. I think we should have plenty of time, but then again, I have not even talked with the publisher, so I have no idea how long this sort of thing will take. |
Missy do you have a ball park figure in mind? It would be better to know that before committing to an amount of books to order? |
The English major in me is coming out..It should be Yorkie YAKKERS :D I cant wait to see how itll come out! |
Is this a bound book or a spiral? Also, is this regular recipes, or dog food? |

This will be both, Human & Adult. Not sure, but I'm guessing spiral. (I think that would be the nicest) Ball Park figure, I'm guessing, and this is just a guess, but no more then $20 per book, and I think that is quoting high. |
Another option to save on costs is this: You can get a full-color hard bound book done by Heritage Makers. I bet some YTer's are consultants. With a "proof," there would be no minimum for the number of copies that would be done. They could be purchased on an individual basis... |
If it's spiral then it'll stay open on the page you are using... there is nothing worse than a cook book that keeps trying to close itself! JMO |
I agree with everything that's been stated, and I would be willing to proof some of it. I'm a court reporter so my JOB is proofing transcripts. Let me know how, and I'll be glad to help :) |

Hmmmm don't you think it should have Yorkie talk mentioned in the title? maybe A Yorkie Talken/ing Cook Book. or something like that? I like Yorkie Yakkers but isn't that another site? |
So it is human recipe and dog recipe book? How about keeping the title generic for dogs so all dogs can enjoy it? If this is sold on a consistent basis and it's a dog cooking book, I would be consider selling it on my website. 100% proceeds go to your funds minus any credit card processing fees and shipping fees |

I also like the idea Sassypup said, about not just focusing on Yorkies, so she could sell it on her site as well. Great idea! I asked admin if I can start a poll about the title, just waiting to here back from him. |

I might be able to buy 3 books, but I would want to know the # of recipes, minimum, that you are going to require for the book. |

Most fundraising cookbooks of this nature are sold for $7 - $10 each. |
I have a few cookbooks I've purchased from fundraisers..here are a couple of addresses: CIRCULATION SERVICE, INC. P.O. Box 7306 - Indian Creek Station Leawood, Kansas 66207 913-491-6300, 1-800-937-6886 Fax: 913-451-6272 World's Largest Publisher of Personalized Cook Books Morris Press Cookbooks P.O. Box 2110 Kearney, NE 68848 1-800-445-6621 Ext. CB www.morriscookbooks.com Fundcraft Publishing, Inc. P.O. Box 340 Collierville, TN I hope these help some. Also, Yorkie Yakkers is another site and not a very good one (they bash YT'ers and others, so I wouldn't think it a good idea to use anything close to that name. |
If this is a fundraiser and proceeds are benefiting the rescue then why wouldn't we name it after YT, with their permission of course. Just like a school would say Emerson Elementary Cookbook, recipes submitted by parents and children of ... blah blah you get the idea The Yorkie Talk Cookbook - with receipes for mostly human and a section in the back for animals. |
The morris press cookbook seems to have great prices, suggested selling prices in th 8.00-9.00 range. Quote:

I also like the idea of spiral. Count me in to buy several, donate recipes (the people kind) and would also try to sell some. My mom lives in a retirement center and those ladies always buy stuff. Patty |
Oh and just from past experience...I wouldn't go over $12-$15. |
I would buy 3 or 4 books maybe more.:) |
