Is this asking too much? My neighbor and I switched keys to help when in need of walking and feeding our dogs incase there's a need at one time or another. I'm needed in a couple of days and she ran me through her dog's routine. After walking I was asked to brush the dog's teeth after feeding and comb her around the mouth and "PICK OUT THE EYE BOOGIES" Now come on? Am I being difficult or is this just too much to ask a person doing another a favor? First of all I am not comfortable putting my hands inside of someone's else dog's mouth and diffenately have no intention of picking out the eye boogies. In the past when someone fills in for me I would only ask to walk Buddy and put his food down turn on lights and say bye-bye. Would you expect a neighbor to do these things for your dog if it were only for one night? P.S. This dog is not a Yorkie but a Schnauser. |

NO that is taking advantage. Walk and feed is more than enough. I also wouldn't want to do the teeth thing becuase although her dog knows you it's not your dog and might not be comfortable with you doing this and bit you. |
OMG I swear reading that actually made me laugh out loud! Brush his teeth and clean hi eye boogies? What the freaking h*** is she thinking? |
I am so glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this is a bit much. I was really surprised I was asked these things but said nothing just kept my thoughts to myself. I wanted to say brush her teeth in the am and comb her face and pick out the boogies as well in the am. That's what I do daily for Buddy. But kept quiet, I need her next month:) |
Thanks for the laugh this early in the morning:) PULEESE, lady! |
I would literally be so grossed out if someone asked me to do that to their dog!!!!!!!! I love my own dogs, but other people's dogs...not so much (unless they're yorkies of course). YUCK!!!!!!!!!!! |

I cant help but laugh, it has to be a joke, that does seem pretty extreme of someone to ask you especially if you arent really close with them and thier dog. |
That's too much to ask. But since you need her next month, would she even know if you didn't do that for her dog? :icon5: I mean honestly, the dog could develope those eye buggers from the time you leave him till she gets back. ;) And how will she be able to tell if you brushed his teeth. I am an honest person, so I feel bad saying those things, but come on, that's just too much. :2omg: |

Regardless of the breed I think your neighbor is being a bit ridiculous. When you ask a favor of someone you should make it as easy as possible for them. This is her dog not yours - its not your pride and joy. A walk, food, clean water and some quality attention should be enough. Maybe she should hire a professional dog sitter if she wants all of this pampering! |

Thank heavens it's not only me who feels like I am being used! I am almost sorry I got myself into this! Who would have ever thought anyone would ask this much:confused: |
Well, I do those things for Chloe, but I would never ask or expect anyone else to do so. I wouldn't do it for someone else, either. That's ridiculous. |
You need eye boogie pay.:D :D That's a bit over the top especially if only for a short time - how long are you covering for her ? Lord it takes all kinds doesn't it ? It wouldn't bother me to do for a dog but it's not like it's an emergency to miss a tooth brush and Eye Boogie Cleaning |

It's freeking me out thinking of picking out eye boogies from someone's else's pet! Yuk. I'm not staying there only walking, feeding and leaving. I really am afraid to put my hands into someone else's dog's mouth. I would never ask anyone to do such a personal thing. Gotta give this more thought for sure. |

I swear I should have said something when she told me but I guess I was just stunned by the request. If I don't do these things think the dog will tell on me:D |
Do it this time only because you did not tell her you wouldn't. You need to get things straight with her though. She is a bit over the top and I'm surprised she didn't ask you to wash the dogs butt after it poops!!! |

LOL she should me where the wipes were just in case anything got stuck. Somehow I didn't mind that too much these things can happen. |
WOW!... Do they want you to clip around the butt too? .... I think they may be trying to get some free grooming...tell them you charge for that stuff.... |

I have a dog sitter for when we are away. We pay her $50 a day and I wouldn't think to ask her to brush teeth and clean eyes. I think it's unanimous- your neighbor is nuts!:p |

what we learn about people. |
That makes me laugh! Ok, maybe if it was my mom keeping Sadie I might ask something like that, but not anyone else!!! It is asking a little much. |
That was good for a laugh, Carol;) . That dog better be valuable enough to have a Lords of London insurance policy on it if it can't go one nite with out being "de-boggied" and having it's teeth brushed! Talk about above and beyond the call of duty! Are you expected to clean it's paws and wash it's fanny after the "walk"? I know when I've had to have pet sitters, all I asked was to have the food dishes filled and the water changed (no walking needed, they were cats and birds) and a little socialization if there was time. She's asking tooooooo much in my opinion. |
LOL i just totally burst out laughing... hahaha ya that is a bit extreme... |
had to laugh OK..this is one of the first posts that made me really laugh out loud!! :) When she watches your pup, I guess you're going to come home to one squeekly clean little dog! (Maybe she won't have a hand tho if she tries to clean a stranger's dog's teeth tho! lol). By the way, is she the type that wears foil on her head in case of radiation??? LOL Debbie |
No, I wouldn't ask my neighbor to do all that. We have the same arrangement with our neighbor, and we just looked after their dog this past weekend. All we had to do was give her fresh water, feed her and take her outside while they were gone. We did spend extra time playing with her outside and letting her get exercise, but we didn't have to do anything else. |
The dog won't tell if you don't, but this nut probably has a hidden video set up. eeewww. |
If you clean her dog's eye boogies, I want you to come to my house and clean my guy's eye boogies! |
