do you understand child abuse?? i think i do..this is supposed to be funny but i am so upset for xmas bought my husband our first big screen tv and i paid it off in under the 90 days, never before could we have done that i was so proud of us, and now my son whose 2 took a spray bottle that i use for cleaning and sprayed the tv to help me clean and now the bottom 7-8inches and all destored (spelling) its messed up. no more warranty, i didnt realize it wasnt a newer tv so the screen if it needs replacing is not obtainable, a service man is 90 bucks just to come out parts and labor not included i cant do that right now, they advised my husband to take it apart clean the screen and see what happens. its getting worse, and he doesnt get home till late and i know he;s tired i want to beat the living daylights out of my boy right now i just sent him to his room and he cried for a few minutes then started playing again. i think im going to cry |
whats the brand of tv and model ill ask my brother what to do |
really?? oh awesome!!! Hitachi 51" HIDEF 51F500A its a projection screen tv thats was the service guy said THANK YOU |
Sorry for your tv getting messed up. I have a two year old son and it actually made me tear up to think of my son getting such trouble and being sent to his room over doing something that he thought was helping me. I am really about to cry because my baby would not understand why I was so mad at him. I know it has got to be so frustrating...our daughter broke the tv in our master bedroom when she was also 2 (we paid $60 to have it fixed). She actually broke it by turning it off and on....I didn't get mad at her because I felt that at 2 years old, she was too young to fully grasp what just happened and also because it was my fault for leaving her unsupervised in my room. Anyway, sorry that your new tv is giving you problems now and also sorry if I sound like I am harping....just made me sad to think of my baby that is also the same age (just turned 2 in March) if he really felt like he was helping me and I got mad at him. :( |
Well, try not to kill him. He was trying to "help" after all ... Sure hope you can get it fixed. GOOD LUCK! |
he's 2 and i understand that he's young but he has been told repeatedly not to do this, im mad, my husband isnt because he thinks in the same direction as you, but i do believe in displine and sending him to his room was not mean in my opinion it was to teach him a lesson, i broke 2 tv's back to back as a child and got woopins for both tv's my title for my post was not to be taking literatly i also didnt see your post as harping at all just some people are more senstive to displine then others. i also look at my up bring i was spanked for every wrong doing; my younger sister never got more than a 2 day punsishment and she was the one to get in serious trouble, me? i stay on the straight and narrow so im a firm believer in displine of some sort..i did feel bad when you reminded me he was trying to help..but his helping skills are ..lordy..costly..lol he took my new cell phone and gave it a bath in the toliet to make it "shiney and brand new" for me..lol |
he gets home alittle after 5 ill let you know what he says |
Thanks again browniesmom!!! yt can be a live saver sometimes!!!;) |

I guess maybe you are right because I am not a believer in "woopins". I STRONGLY believe in redirection and positive reinforcement and my children are truly a joy to be around....comin' straight from their mommy's mouth. ;) For my children, time-out works so I will stick to those things for around here. My 2 year old son is also a handful (typical toddler boy) but if I knew that he was prone to grabbing the water bottle, like you say your son is and I did not put it where he could not get to it, then I think that I should be the one sent to my bedroom for the punishment not him. Tammy |
dont get me wrong my son is a joy to be around as well and it is my fault about the water bottle, and we do time out in his room he acutally as a naught chair in his room with a chart above it he is extremely smart he already talkes like a "big kid" know the ABC's and the 123's and he is so intouch with emotions and other peoples needs i do feel bad since i calmed down and realized i shoudnt have moved the bottle and not yelled any i actually thought they were all put away (i have too many spray bottles) im new at this full time mommy business..lol i was recently released from work and the same week found out im pregnant with my second child so super nanny has been good and educational..lol |
Awwwww....at 2 he really did think he was helping...I so remember mine at that age and I think it was one of the best ages when raising kids.... but - you really need to put that kind of thing way out of his reach - too many kids will drink cleaning products...you're kind of lucky he only used it to clean .... I know when my boys knew they were in trouble - just the thought of me upset with them usually was punishment enough - that and some time outs.....and I do hope you can fix your tv. |
hey v yeah he is such a sweet kid, i told him i was sorry and i put away everything...and we had a talk about the tv too |
ohh noo..... i hope you can get it fixed without paying a high price!! something will work out.. dont worry  |
My 2 year old granddaughter just did the exact same thing to my daughters new TV. She sprayed windex on it trying to help her mommy clean. Both my son in law and daughter were fit to be tied. While I could understand the frustration of money down the drain like I told them both...it's just stuff! Their story did have a happy ending though. After being told that warranty wouldn't cover the damage my son in law took it apart and dried it with a hair dryer piece by piece. Put it back together and there was still a small line which my daughter said disappeared after a few days. Hope things turn out well for your situation and hugs to your son. I remember a day many many years ago when my little one drew stars in black permanent marking all over the roof of my brand spanking new bronco II. I seriously thought I was going to die but now it's something we not only still speak of often but laugh about. |
i knw i guess we all do evil stuff as kids i know that i took my little duck wagon and filled it with gravel, my mom just came home from having my sister i guess i was jealous or something and i grinded the gravel on top of her monte carlo right after she had some kinda of ritzi paint job done i guess all kids ruin stuff at one time or another...i have a friend that just found out shes pregnant, and i told her to say good bye to nice things for at least 18 years,..she thought i was joking..lol |

i do seriously appreciate the concern but it was not cleaning solution that was reachable i have a bottle with water for the dogs and a bottle with water and liquid softner to make the home smell good, neither one of those would harm him in anyway, my true chemicals are put away, most of my cleaning supplies are like vinegar, and of course the only main chemical here is bleach and that it kept away and i do care for his saftey but i also care about a exspensive items in my home..this was not a post to make people feel they need to stand up for the well being of my child, the orginal post was a bit on the joking side but also upsetting because of what happened the thread title was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously |

My youngest was one of those kids who got into EVERYTHING....I can remember putting a lock on my fridge door cause he'd sneak out there in the middle of the night and eat stuff & he was QUIET lol - one night he got into the jelly & dropped it - the jar broke and I totally freaked when I ran out there - he had his fingers in the mess and was getting ready to lick them LOL - with BROKEN glass   believe me - a Rope went around my fridge that night and what a pain in the butt it was undoing the knots every morning ...but he never did raid the fridge again...at least not till he was much older |
aww..i wouldnt hurt him, i was mad but i would never beat the lving day lights out of him..the thought might have crossed my mind for a moment..lol i love my baby love love love him, i just dont handle ...dissappointment?..well..i dont know if thats the word or not everyone will tell ya that i havnt got any patience though i work on it we have good days and bad days..he was probably bored and stuff and my hormones are kicken in my hubby is the softy of the family Jay (hubby) is like you i think Tammy :) Our son can do no wrong in his eyes i told him about the tv and he;s like big deal so what, when jayson does something wrong hes laughs and finds the cuteness in it, i have been working on getting jayson out of our bed (first kid, i know big mistake, wont happen again i promise..LOL) and he has been out of the bed for weeks now but my husband cant stand to hear him cry so they will sneak back to our bed together sometimes..drives me crazy, jayson (son) draws on the wall..im freaking and my husband is like "look he is so artistic"..lol i wish that i was a perfect mommy but im just not as good at it as i would like to be, i ose my patience, we skip breakfast, we go puppy shopping, we CLEAN HOUSE together..lol i did sign him up with the playroom and try to take him 2-3 times a week and we havent gone yet this week, we are going tomorrow. i set up his potty time chart and a nauty time chart and we say our abcs and spell words for each letter and count but sometimes hedoesnt get naps, and sometimes i fuss at him |

Right now it may be hard on you with a 2 year old, but they grow up so fast just enjoy him as much as possible before you know it he will be leaving home....:) I know right now its hard to believe when people say that but trust me they do, its like you blink your eyes and they are grown up...:) |
oh i know ive been thinking about how little he was when he was born and little things he did when he was a tiny baby he was 4.9lbs (a yorkie!!) my husband's head was bigger than him..lol |
