Need a mild Salsa Recipe! I love salsa dips and i wondered if anyone had a favorite mild salsa recipe. I love the one they sell at that restaurant chain On The Border but i would like to make it myself at home. Anyone have a recipe they are willing to share ? :D |
I don't follow a recipe but love homemade salsa....when I grew my own tomatoes it was the BEST I use - Tomatoes - (those oval ones -forget the name) and parboil to remove the skins (blanch) add finely chopped Jalapeno peppers - small onion - cilantro (lots) and parsley.... and add a touch of Lime juice & TOUCH of sugar to remove any bitter taste - add salt and pepper by taste ... I usually make too much to use my blender so I mash it manually |
wow thanks a bunch i just bought this little machine salsa express it's called and i want to try it. thanks for the recipe i will give it a try |
Fresh Tomato Salsa 1- 1/2 lbs firm ripe tomatoes, cut into small cubes, about 3c. 1 lg. jalapeno, seeded, minced 1/2c. red onion, minced 1 small garlic clove, minced 1/4 c. cilantro leaves, chopped 1/2 tsp salt pepper 2-6 tsp. lime juice, from 1-2 limes sugar to taste Set a colander over a bowl add the cut up tomatoes to drain the excess juice for about 30 min. As they drain layer the jalapeno, onion, garlic & cilantro on top. Shake the colander to drain off the excess juice. Discard the liquid.Transfer all the ing. to the bowl. The addition of sugar & lime juice will depend on the ripeness of the tomatoes so add & taste. Start w/ 2 tsp of lime juice. If you want more heat add some minced up seeds. You can roast tomatoes that are cut in half on the grill til they are chared for a smoky taste. Hope you like it...:) |
Thank you !! I forgot the garlic when I posted and that's really a key ingredient |

No Recipe for Salsa, But Once your salsa is done -- Mix roughly 12-16 oz of it with 8 oz of Philadelphia cream cheese, a small can of chopped black olives (drained), and a 1/2 bag each of shredded Monterey Jack and shredded cheddar cheese (or a whole bag of mixed cheese). It's just called "cream cheese salsa." I've made it for years and my friends usually clean the container out. |
