Aggghhhh So Mad!! I Have been patiently waiting for months now to get a fence in my front yard i need it desperatly Peeka will no longer poop on a leash and is pooping in my house and Daisy is now running off:mad: It is such a pain to try to take them out on leashes because i have my 2 year old who either gets into everything when i'm out or he is out with me and is running off:mad: and the dogs take twice the time on leashes. I am so irritated now because i thought i was going to get it on the 5th and now we can't:( :( . I have tried searching everywhere to find the lowest price but it will cost us $600.00 to do it ourselves aaggghhhh i hate this! Sorry i just have to vent. why the heck is chain link so expensive!! Plus i have to buy an extra 42 feet of fencing because i am over by 12 ft and they won't just sell me the 12 ft:mad: :thumbdown SORRY AGAIN I JUST REALLY NEED TO VENT THANKS FOR LISTENING TO ME!! |
You just go ahead and vent, this is the place to do it. We've all had frustrating times but it sounds like you're having a doosie. I don't know why it's so expensive & it's crappy that you have to buy so much extra. My sister had a 20X40 ft chain link dog run installed at her house for $1200. Two days later her 3 dogs (Boxer, Shepherd & Border Collie) got out and the Boxer & Shepherd were shot by the farmer down the road when they got into his chicken & hog pens. The Border Collie made it home. Boxer & BC went over it, the Shepherd went under it. So they have a dog run that they can't use. |
I know what you mean, we had to buy extra when we put the fence up in Florida...they just don't sell short rolls! Is there something temporary that you can do to contain them until you get your fence like put them out in an x-pen or something? |

Chicken Wire for a temp fix is expensive! I did that at my old house and OUCH unless you can catch it on sale.... Are there any junk yards or recycle places around? Maybe they have some? |
I wish that I had a way to help you. I know how frustrated you are. I can only imagine how it is with them on leashes and your 2yr old helping out. How about (I'm not being funny, I'm a grandmother who has  done this before) an ex-pen out front for the 2 yr old when you are on leash duty? Here, this is for you tonight....:beermug: :island2: :2pizza: :cake: |

what about that white plastic garden type fence...my dad uses it to keep lillian out of his plants. I don't know how much it cost but I can find out for you..it could be a quick fix till you can find something better. |

Oh my. This is tough. Things are so ridiculously expensive. I know this sounds goofy, but we put up a white vinyl privacy fence that we couldn't afford. ;) It took us like 3 years....we did as much as we could afford each year. While it was happening, I hated it! But now that it's done (it's been done since LAST spring) I can't even remember what it was like without it. I'm sure the neighbors werent thrilled that it took so long, but it all worked out in the end. Of course, we couldn't really use it for a year or two, but eventually it was there. |

then just buy those plain wooden posts at home depot and the cheapest link fence you can find thats what we did for lillian its not the prettiest but it works |
Maybe you could just fence in the part near the front door and not go all the way to the street (with the chain link). There are people on my street who have done this. It doesn't have to look bad. In my back yard we also have a smaller run outside the doggie door that we fenced in with the welded fence and the "farm" type poles. It doesn't look good, but it does the job. Someday I hope to get a pretty vinyl fence, but in the meantime I am glad my babies are safe. |

last year we had a chain link fence put up. they charged us by the amount of fence it took. We didnt get the best, we got the medium but its plenty strong. the smaller the diamonds the stronger the fence. it started at 1 1/4 inch, then 2 inches then 2 3/8 inches. we took the 2 inch diamonds. So maggie could get her head thru the diamond and probably her body but I never let her get that far but I knew she was gonna be a 5 or so lb dog and she could go out between the end post and the gate. anyway, its 4 feet tall with 2 corner post, 6 end post 2 (4ft) walk thru gates and he left us enough for my hubby to put across that side of our deck to close up under it and it cost us 865.80 and so worth it. It is a nice fence and sturdy and i dont know what I would do without it. I think ours was 137 feet over all . we feel like we got out moneys worth. maybe we didnt but they sure did a great job and concreted the post real deep in the ground and the fence bottom in in there where they would have a hard time ever digging under it. |

For that extra 12 ft, have you tried looking someplace like Craigslist? People are always trying to get rid of extra stuff taking up space. You might can find it someplace like that. For example, here's what's in my local craigslist: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/grd/336670291.html |
