Congratulations! What a wonderful story! I am an adoptee who so many times wishes that my birth mother would try to contact me. I am ready to hire an advocate to help me search. Thank you for giving me some hope that she might actually want to meet me!

Aww congrats Patti!!! That is truly wonderful that you and him found each other !!!

I know what it's like being a teen mom, I had my daughter at 15 and it was very hard.

Patti, how wonderful for you and your family! I have to tell you that without wonderful, selfless women like you I wouldn't have my fantastic nephew and niece.

I watched for years as my older sister tried unsuccessfully to have children. When she and my BIL adopted, it was the greatest event ever in my family.

Thank you for having the insight and courage to make such a difficult decision.

Dear Patti,

I hope you are having a great second day with your son and his wife. I finally looked at the pictures. Oh my goodness. He is good looking and yes! he has same eyes as yours are :) How wonderful your days must have been...

Since I change it to Cingular (well even before that too), I talk to you several times a day. Even I am far away from Boston, I feel like I am in the journey with you and feel the excitement!! I know you have waited for this day for long long long time. Now the day is here. So enjoy every minute that you spend with your son! It is definitely "catching-up" time. I cannot be more happier for you! :)

Ken and Jess look so happy too!!!!! (I text-messaged her this afternoon :) ) I cannot wait to talk to you this evening to get all the good stories.

My son's wife is in the red shirt. She is 9 years older than him. I have the long sleeve shirt and goldish brown hair and my dtr is the blonde girl.

I think that's absolutely fantastic!

My mom gave two of hers up for adoption in the late '60's. Since it wasn't appropriate back then to be an unwed mother. Her daughter (my 1/2 sister) found us and for awhile was in contact but she doesn't want to tell her adoptive mother that she found us, so she's broken contact. (Her husband felt she was being deceptive and I think he had a good part to do with it)

The other one was a boy, my only full blood brother. And we can't find him. Adoption records are sealed and it's possible he may not know he's adopted. I'm going to keep looking but I think the chances are pretty slim for finding him.

Stories like this always make me think of him and hope we do find him, and gives me some hope still.

That's sad. If you know the adoption agency they have people that will work with you to help locate if they have a current address and if so they can contact the person and see if they are open to hearing from the birth relative.
Just keep trying. I know when I got pregnant in 1970 it was very different then today.

Oh I think thats wonderful! Things happen for a reason....I'm glad you get to continue a relationship! That's a great story and great pictures! Your daughter and son look alike - the eyes are amazing! Thanks for sharing!

Patti, I am so... happy for you. :smile: What a selfless thing you did 36 years ago, to give your son up for adoption. My goodness, your family is now complete.:) Enjoy every minute getting to know your son and his family. You have your whole family back together again, with a daughter-in-law as a new person to love. I am so happy for you, and your family. My daughter and I are not in contact right now, so your story is doubly wonderful to me.

Dr. Phil did a show on this last week, but not with such wonderfully happy endings.

its good to hear happy endings to things like this. it gives me hope. I also gave a daughter up for adoption when I was 17. she is 6 now and even though my aunt adopted her and i get to see her a few times a year, its hard when she doesnt even know who I am. it was the best thing for her, but its still very hard on me.

You were so brave and strong at 17. I so admire your strength but oh how difficult a time it must have been for you.

You must be filled with such joy to be able to reunite with him!
The resemblance is amazing! He's so good looking.
