I've Not Smoked Any Cigs ALL Day! How proud of myself am I!!!! It's nearly midnight and I've not touched one! They have been on the table in front of me all day and I've not even been bothered!!!!! |
Way to go girl!!! |
Yay, same here for 3 days. Keep it up. |
Thank you both! :D Quote:
I did start off just cutting down but then thought it would take too long so I'll just quit! lol |
Great job, let's see if we can both keep it up. Good luck. I know we'll need it. |

GOOD FOR YOU BOTH!!! I don't think anyone needs to preach at ya...although I could  but that is soo great that you are making that decision to quit smoking!!!!! My step-mom smokes and has had cancer two times and continues to, so if you need any help one day when you think of taking a puff, just think of cancer..not cool. Anyway, didn't mean to drown you in misery, but that is just great! Congrats again!!! And keep us updated :) Love to hear progress |
Well, all I have to say to that is: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :happyboun:happyboun:happyboun :good job: :good job: :good job: |
I don't smoke, and maybe it's healthier not to smoke, but it seems everyone I know that has died already (and it's a lot of people) has died of cancer and have never smoked. I have friends who smoke like chimney's and are healthier than most. I'm wondering if the nicotine doesn't kill off certain cancer cells and other bad things. More people die of cancer here in the US than in all of Europe, and more European's smoke than Americans. Any reputable Dr. will tell you that if you have been smoking a lot for a lot of years, then it's dangerous to your health to quit cold turkey. Your body goes into traumatic shock and you can have a heart attack and can also end up with emphysema AFTER quitting!! Also since nicotine is considered a drug, then why hasn't the government taken it off the shelves? (They are getting billions off of the cigarette companies). Just bumping and grinding my brain here!!! |

So does that mean it's not good just to stop? What do they class as a lot of years?? What if you're pregnant though, it can take some people months to cut down to nothing, surely it's in the baby's best interest to just ASAP? |
Congratulations! Great job, I know it's a hard habit to kick. :bravo: I think the higher cancer rates in the US have to do with our lifestyle over here. Poor eating habits, (I know I don't eat enough veggies and fruits, and am in the process of trying to lose the last 50 lbs -- I've lost 22 lbs so far), and I also think we aren't active enough -- it seems like everywhere I go, I drive; everything is just too far to walk to. Lol, just thought I'd share my opinion. ;) |

All the people that I know who've quit are still leading healthy lives. I quit (cold turkey) 20 years ago...my mother quit cold turkey about 5 years later...she's 72 and quite healthy... I'm just saying, be careful, statistics can be misleading. |
