There is nothing more "UPLIFTING" Then a new bra!!! |
I need news ones soooo bad. I don't have much, but it's hard to find one that fits well without going into debt for one. I'm big around, but small in cup size. Do any of you try them on or know how to measure for the correct size? |
I used to work as a supervisor at a bra store for almost 2 years... I know a lot of little tips that a lot of women don't know :-) 85% of all women wear the wrong bra size. USUALLY a person can get by with playing with their sizes... what I mean is for example if you wear a 36C, but can't find any in your size, then you have two options: 1) go down a bust size and up a cup size (34D) 2) go up a bust size and down a cup size (38B) It DOES NOT always work, but it's worth a try. If you have a problem with your bra straps falling off your shoulders and you have shoulders that slope downwards, try a racer back bra. That will keep the straps from slipping. If you can't find any, there are accessories that can kinda make a regular bra into a racer back, but they are kind of annoying and you need another persons help. The adhesive cup bras are BETTER for ladies with a smaller chest. For the larger chested ladies there are adhesive stickies that can cover the whole area or just the nipple area so you don't show through a shirt :-) None of these products really support that well whether it be the stickies or the adhesive cups. If anyone has any other questions feel free to let me know :-) |
Great tips Ashley! I find that when I do buy a bra in one brand it doesn't fit the same way in another brand ...the sizing doesn't seem consistent in different brands...I'm always having to pull the bra over the breast, it keeps peeking out..( and no there not big)..it's so annoying to have to yank that bra over all day... |
I love a new bra :) I do only wear the Smooth Sensation bra from Fredericks of Hollywood, it is Awesome! I have it in a bunch of different colors...I'm an awkward size and thats how I ended up shopping here to begin with...but really....if you want the girls to look great, this is the bra to do it in lol :p |

I must have been buying bra wrong my whole life. I have never spent $19 on a bra. I buy mine at Wal Mart and other discount stores. That must be why I'm having trouble finding them to fit right. I find the right cup size, but they are too small to go around. I end up using those hook things in the back to make them bigger around and then the straps fall off. I'm going to see about buying better quality I guess. I just hate spending that much on a bra...lol And I'm checking out that web-site. |
Well I have been measuring right. It's just really hard to find a 44 B. Guess I'm just going to have to spend more and get a good quality instead of the cheapies I've been buying. Thank you for the links. Well I just checked the Fredericks link and they don't have my size either. I might as well get out the band aids...lol |
Truthfully, use your "size" as a guideline, not as a definate. If you use that as definate and don't try them on in the store, you'll be wasting gas going back and forth to return and buy new ones. Try on all your bras at the store, as annoying as it is, because it'll be worth it in the end. Sometimes you have to play with the sizes a little bit. The middle part between the two cups should actually lay flat to your chest. If it doesn't, you either need a bigger cup size or a bigger bust size. |

SIZES CHANGE with each MFG...what I found was just unreal - I think they're actually running smaller these days cause I had to buy a 38 DDD this time and I've never in my life been a triple D. TRY THEM ON - get a saleswoman to help you ....and if you find a brand that works - just keep checking for Sales and they'll end up costing about 15 each or less....Walmart Bras SUCK - you really need to try the Mall or even Fredericks and VS. EDITED TO ADD - I don't know if you have this store near you but I've had great luck with Dillards...Foleys/Macys are also good - and even JC Penny these days has a nice lingere section |

Thank you so much. I like the looks of quite a few of them. I've got it bookmarked. I'll try one and if it fits good, order more. I would like to try it on first, but not many stores carry my size. This is great...thank you again!!!:) |
Thanks V, I'm planning on going to a larger city near us today, maybe I can find something there. I really appreciate all the help. So many knowledgeable people on here. |

Agreed - when I worked at Maidenform, a lot of ladies were to shy to ask for help, but believe me, if they work with bras, they've seen b**bs of all shapes and sizes and they will not care. I have so many Maidenform stories you wouldn't believe the things I saw... and man, some of the bra shopping women are the meanest! I've had bras thrown in my face, called stupid, theif and everything else... some how I still managed to smile and say "Have a nice day" and as they walk out I mumble "don't let the door hit you on the way out" I used to have women walk out of the dressing room and into the store with nothing but a bra and panties on... and I'm like... "ummm... there... are.... cameras...." lol |

That's awful about how customers act. When I was at Dillards last weekend the woman was so helpful ...but man - if they don't fit - they don't fit - it's NOT the salespersons fault WE dont know what size we are ! :D :D I think that must happen in all customer service jobs. Some people are just JERKS,,,then there are the dream customers like ME who thank them profusely for the help cause I sure needed it jumping sizes like I just did and Janet - when you find a good one that really fits and is flattering - you'll never buy another walmart bra again. I admit to buying one or 2 way back when - they look great at first - then in 2 months lose all their function |
jp4m2 - your post just reminded me of a friend who knew I had shopped last week for a new bra and he asked me..."So - Hows the new bra doing ?" my answer just flew out - I said "Adjusting VERY WELL thank you !" :D and it IS lol .... you are so right - there's nothing like a nice NEW good fitting bra. It changes the look of everything you wear. |

I'm a Victoria's Secret girl :p All my stuff comes from there. And the quality of bras that they have compared to something you buy at Walmart, doesn't even compare. My mom has bought cheap stuff for years. And I've bought her a few here and there at VS lingerie sales. For Mother's Day, I bought her a nice ipex underwire (like $50 :) and she's never spent that much on a bra, or probably anything else) And it's made such a difference. It fits nice, supports her well but she says "everyone keeps staring at my boobs". :D Most of my bras last for years and are well worth the investment. And they make me feel better about myself. The real secret is you buy pretty underthings for yourself, not anyone else. :p |
:lol tears Oh my gosh, you had me totally cracking up girl! That is just too funny and yes - you are sooo right about having a new bra, lol ;) Especially when you aren't exactly what they'd consider "small" in that area if you know what I mean :p |
Try eBay for good bras at more reasonable prices. Of course, you can't try them on. I find a style and size that fits me nicely and then I look on eBay for a good price. At a 44D, those mamas deserve quality! |
