For bathing suit season haha. I'm lucky, since I'm still in school I have gym everyday. I've also been going out and playing some baseball with my friends or tennis or something that makes me move. and of course, if you ever feel the urge to drink soda or something, drink water instead! If you're really hungry at night or whenever, eat a dry salad (or don't use much dressing, if you don't like it dry.) Remember that dieting isn't just something you do until you get down to your goal weight. If you stop dieting once you reach that, you'll gain it all back. It has to be a change in your lifestyle. |

Thanks for these links....I will check them out....I definitely didn't know there was one just for us YTers!!! COOL!! http://www.seeyourselfslimmer.co.uk/photo-gallery.html http://groups.msn.com/YTLosers |
I agree w/ what most of you have said.....it is not a diet, it is a healthy lifestyle change. I have bought and read this book: Water With Lemon and got the recipe book (w/ extra items) from Zonya Health Bites. It is a 30min segement on PBS, she is a registered dietician (sp). I have really enjoyed some of her recipes, the book and her health tips - she is all about the power of ONE healthy habit. Which once you conquer it, there is another one...whether it is added more fiber to your diet, cutting back on salt or sugar, or whatever your needs are. http://www.zonya.com/ I once had a doctor tell me that I could eat a twinkie if I wanted (which I don't like twinkies, that was just an example), but I should just know when to say that was enough....meaning, stick w/ that ONE twinkie that day and no other junk food...and to just WALK! WALK! WALK! WALK! I quit MTN. DEW for many reasons....one, I was just do addicted to it, two, my dentist was not happy w/ my teeth....I have all the bills to prove that and third, my doctor really gave me the riot act regarding my "lust" for the "dew"! Ha! I haven't had a cola beverage in all these years. I once grabbed my daughters sonic cup thinking it was mine (I love Sonic ice water because of the ice) and I immediately tried to spit it all out....it just made my stomach hurt all day (more in my head, I am sure) and it was sooo sweet! YUCK! I agree....I "diet" is different for everyone.....what might work for one, will not work for another, etc. They don't make it easy! |
Sorry for so many posts on this subject....I just hadn't been on here since yesterday morning.....you miss so much going a day w/o YT! hee,hee There are so many pills out there, but I know they aren't healthy for you...because you just need to change your eating habits and even really your lifestyle habits (exercise, eating better, not smoking, etc).....that is what they say. But there are some new products on the market....Hoodia, ALI, Cylaris, Akavar 20/50....have anyone heard of these or used them? I am trying to go "all natural" and doing it the right way, but it is always nice to hear what others have tried. |

This sounds like it would be great!! I am definitely going to check it out! It sounds easy! I'm not big on counting points or calories, etc....but just the food tracker, etc would be good. I was told to JOURNAL......write down EVERYTHING you eat....I have tried that, but it gets lost in my everyday, everything else that I have going on.....I might try it again though! |
Last One --- Promise!!! 1 Attachment(s) Attachment 119821 Soooo funny! Although, I would need a naked picture of me hanging in front of my face to get me going more!!! (hee, hee):D I did take a picture of me in a little bikini (so gross, YUCK) :thumbdown and I sooo wanted to put it in the food cabinet and refrig and on my treadmill, but I just hated the thought of someone happening to see it other than my husband!!! Oh my!!! |
My son and I have been on weight watchers for 7 weeks now. I am down 10.5 lbs and he is down 9 lbs. It is a great motivator to have someone to do it with, we keep each other on track. We don't consider it a diet, it is a life style change. Weight watchers teaches you healthy eating habits. We also go to the meetings once a week, that also keeps us motivated, who wants to pay for a meeting and not lost weight, so we really keep on track that way too. I exercise at least 4 days a week for 1hr 45 minutes or more, depending how I feel. I have bought all kinds of dvd's(denise austin, tae-boe, and The firm) I do one of those for 45 minutes and my treadmill for 1 hr. I never use to exercise, I am determined to lose the weight for health and family. I walk the dogs too, but I have always done that, and it is for fun. Water, water, water as everyone had said. Everyone knows exercise speeds up the weight loss, although WW is designed to lose without it. I love WW and highly recommend it. Also we have one night a week where we go out to eat and splurge(with our extra 35 points) and pretty much have what we want in moderation. You can't deprive yourself completely or you will crash. We also love the rasberry ice Crystal light. Here are some sites I have found since getting on the program that have helped me and my son: http://www.hungry-girl.com/ http://www.healthdiscovery.net/forums/index.php? http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html |
My hats off to you gals who have lost so much weight. Good for you. Be proud because I know how hard that is. I am a walker. I have been walking for 25years and still can't loose a lousy 10lb unless I do not eat! If is so very hard when you get older and sitting all day does not help. I walk everyday on my lunch hour(1mi) to keep the matabolism going. Been doing WW for about a month and only lost 3lbs! Only 10lbs you would think that was a piece of cake. I do not drink soda, eat candy or cake and potatoes. It just doesn't happen unless I eat lettuce 3x a day! WW bagels and english muffins are great as well as their bread. Oh well I'll just keep trying. Good luck to all of you. |
Excercise And Keeping Active I have always been very active doing gardening, painting the house, etc, I never looked at it as work while doing as I always think of what I am accomplishing. I never have had a weight problem. I always have been one to drink lots of water, instead of a soda I replaced it with a pitcher of water lemon added, no sugar. We have never been one on lots of sweets. Our daughter and family just recently moved so she is painting and doing gardening and she said last night she has lost nine pounds in almost 2 weeks. She said she thinks being active, and doesn't stop to eat all the time like before, she said she finds she is drinking more water. She had tried diets and all kinds of things to loose. We eat lots of veggies, in place of deserts of cake and pies, we delight in fresh fruits and sometimes with a bit of ice cream on them. Jello fruit salad with a tad bit of whipped cream. We seldom eat fried foods. Patti I just read post on inquiring on taking pills to loose weight, this is something I wouldn't do. Try everything else, in time something will help you. |
Thanks for the links.....those are great! We are getting a pool this summer and I will have my young niece and nephew here too....so, they will keep me on the go. I also love to garden and I push mow most of my yard - get that extra walking and arm power going. Although, sometimes I find myself on YT all day......oh my! |
