Asking for a tiny bit of help
 

Most of you do not know my story so I will try to be brief. I came to YT when I lost my dh very unexpetedly a year ago xmas - 1 week before my dtr's 17th b-day. She and her Daddy were very close. She bought Roxy with her own money and I signed her up on YT to learn more about Yorkies. She was a typical teen and didn't have much time for that so she lurked a bit and I am the one that has always been on here. Well, we were living in Myrtle Beach and couldn't afford to live there so we came back "home" (and no, you can never go home). She was in 11th grade in MB, taking college courses, honor student, had a full scholarship to Coastal Carolina and a partial scholarship to any other SC college. She had enough credits to graduate 1 year early. When we moved here, upon registering her at the local high school, we were told that not only would they NOT accept her hs credits they wouldn't let her take a placement test and she would have to start the next year in the 10th grade. So, from graduating 1 year early, with college paid for, she was going to be graduating 2 years late (at the age of 20) with nothing towards college. So she dropped out. She did finally go back to MB earllier this year to finish hs thru adult ed. Upon taking her placement tests, they said she was too high to waste time taking the courses and recommended she just take her GED and go from there. She did and scored in the top 1% of the National Average (including SAT scores) and is being inducted into the National Honor Society at Graduation. She gets to wear a special sash and receive a special award. She worked so hard for this for her Daddy. Now, the problem is, because of when graduation is, only one sister and myself are able to be there for her celebration. She has 2 brothers and another sister who cannot make it. She called me last nite crying her eyes out because she worked so hard and won't have her whole family there to celebrate. She also just got fired from her job because a drunk golfer was trying to take pictures down the front of her shirt and somebody else called security and caused a comotion. She did nothing, but is being accused. It is all on camera, but this is The Hilton, and the customers are always in the right. She is also being refused over $500.00 in wages due her because of this. She is going to an attorney and to the labor board, but this is just compounding her sadness. I am asking, that if anyone is interested in just sending her a congrats. card, it would help lift her spirits. She gets very little mail and I believe she is just beginning her grieving. Ladybugs are our symbol for her Daddy - they have been around us, even in the north in the dead of winter, they were flying around in our house - since we lost him and I know they will be be at Graduation. He would have been so very proud of her.

I just want to ask, if anyone would be interested in sending her a card, it would liven her spirits, especially if it had a ladybug on it. If you are interested, please PM me for her address.

Your DD is a very strong young lady.....even though it seems things are going so wrong for her she sure is a fighter & needs to hang in there , it will get better....she is going to be such a success....remember this in hard times...

What ever we go through...we grow through....

Thank you. She was forced to grow up way too fast, but has done a remarkable job of it and I am very proud of her.

we have pmed in the past over your husband and my son
and you were telling me that you dh passed 12-14
which is the day my son was born

you also said that ladybugs were your sign for your husband which is also my symbol for my son who passed

i have a tattoo on my foot of a ladybug and i have numerous ladybugs around the house

we seen them everywhere from our hospital to inside our tahoe
in the middle of winter also, we knew it was a meaning and we knew

they mean good luck but they must have a meaning something more than dictionary deep

as for your daughter i feel so sorry fo rher, its hard being young and nothing going your way, i hope the best for her, and that she keeps a good head on her shoulders, she has much love and support for her here and im sure at home

i have a sis in law who they lost their father years back and she went wild
i mean she fights and sleeps around and she just went wild and its so sad, you know a lot of it is her and her mother and sister and her own choices but it affects you in places you dont know and realize till you search it out and nobody else can really see it till sometimes it gets to far

i hope she continues and she realizes that she can make it and that the diploma is worth it and she can definately acheive it and that graduating is awesome and its a great accomplishment

im sure its hard not having a father there and then your family not there either but maybe someting can pull through and they can surprise her

that would be awesome, i hope the best and will pray for the situation to make the most out of it

Thanks, everyone. This brings a tear to my eye. Everyone is so sweet to do this. She took own graduation pictures and had them made up and designed her own graduation cards to send out to family. Just an acknowledgement of someone's achievements, no matter how big or small, can make such a huge difference in their lives. There is a tiny, eldery (late 70's, early 80's) that will be graduating with Krysten. She left school early to raise a family and grandchildren, and finally went back to school, and taking one class at a time, finally finished and graduated. She will be walking across that stage to receive her diploma with the rest. I am so proud of hre, as well. Krysten adore's her and I want to find a little gift to give her at graduation. So far, all I came up with was one of the Willow angels. Any suggestions?

This was Krysten's 17th B-day present, by her request, and she is also going to get a ladybug on her foot. Ladybugs have become a theme in our house, too.

I was hoping they were planning a surprise, too, but I checked, and it just isn't to be.

i got a ladybug on my toe on my foot and then i have my sons fofot prints on my back and his name and dates and then i have wings but i need some other ideas i have 2 more pieces to go with it that i want but i dont want like each to look like abig piece of art i want it to be more like a mural

so i am waiting patiently and then i will slowly work on it

please send me her info...and that really sucks about her job. To be fired over that is just WRONG !!! Too bad someone didn't get pictures of the jerk taking pictures.

I hope many more YTers send wishes to your daughter. She sounds like a wonderful young woman with a great head on her shoulders!!!! Our card is on it's way!!!

It does suck about her job. But it's all on camera and she has 4 witnesseswho saw the whole thing take place. She will be fighting the Hilton Hotel Chain, so who knows what will happen. What really sucks is that this is the second job she has lost because she got what the Hooter's waitress all dream they were born with. The first one, some young jerk of a coworker, who was seen trying to look down her shirt, made some obscene remarks behind her back to some coworkers and in front of customers. She found out and went to the management who did nothing but make her feel like it was her fault. He didn't even get his hand slapped. She quit because she was too embarrassed to face her coworkers and the customers who heard what he said.

As for what you can do.... would you like to go to Myrtle Beach and attend the graduation? Just kidding. A card would mean so much to her. She knows how much you helped me, and she loves the address labels. Thanks, V, I'll PM her addy.

i seen the neatest thing the other day it was a tassel holder, it was like a frame but you could frame your tassel

I sure would if I could :) :) and tell her for me that those people know they're wrong and she has nothing to be embarrassed about !! Poor girl. I can't believe the things that happen to women when it comes to chest size. Tell her from one 38DD to another (whatever size she is) that it's what's in her HEAD that counts and those people only make themselves look like the jerks they are. Give her a hug for me will you please ??

aw, she's so strong to stand up for herself against her former employer! I imagine it's really hard to go through that when she did nothing at all wrong :( not to mention everything else she's been through!!

Hi All. I just wanted to share something with you to make you all smile. I told you all about the lady who is graduating with Krysten. I just found out, she is 78. It has taken her 8 years and she has earned her 24 credits. Now, she is going to enrolling in college. She has no direction she is going in, she just wants to further her education. THAT brings tears to my eyes. God bless her, watch over her and help her reach her goals. I also wanted to thank everyone for helping me and doing this for Krysten. I know she will be smiling as big a smile as she can after all the support she will be getting from all of you. I can't thank you enough.:)

now that IS something ! Wow...I'm impressed and good for her. Your daughter is in very good company isn't she ???

I'm going to teach someone basic computer skills and how to photoshop pictures...and guess what - he's NINETY years old !! I have an appointment on Monday and can't wait to get started......gotta love it !!

What a strong lady she is. I am proud of her!

That's awesome! I could definitely use some of those lessons. Krysten's piano teacher had a couple students who were in their 70's. I am so glad that things are available to retirees and that they are out there using them. We have some retirees working at Lowe's. It's great. They have knowledge to share and best of all, they have some of the best stories to tell.:)

She told me she was going to call the guy that owes her the money today and ask him as professionally as possible, is he going to pay her what he owes her or does she need to go to the Labor Board. That is her next step.

And I want to thank everyone for helping me make her day "All about her". She'll be crying for days when she realizes where all the cards are coming from. :)

Thank you, all. I talked to her tonite and she is getting really upset over the sexual harassment thing `and the fact that nobody has even acknowledged the announcements she sent out. She is gonna freak out when all the cards arrive. :thumbup: :)
