YUCK I had a tick on my head today!!!! I about flipped out this evening! I was laying in bed watching some tv with the girls and I had my hair up, went to take it down and was running my fingers through it and felt a bump! I look at my hubby and say, I think I have something on my head, he looks and it's a TICK!!!! YUCK! We had taken the girls out for a walk earlier and I guess that's how I got it. The girls are on flea and tick meds so thank god they didn't have any, I double checked just to make sure! |
It's the creepiest thing to have a bug on you.lol.....I was paranoid about having a bug or tick on me once because I had been stacking crummy fire wood.... I kept feeling behind my ears & feeling all over my head...just in case .... I then felt something on the back of my neck & it felt firmly attached ... I held my hair up & ran down stairs & yelled to my DH, "I GOT A TICK ON THE BACK OF MY NECK, GET IT OFF!!!"...he calmly smirked & said, " It's a mole." I felt like an idiot.... |

Ewww....did you save it? Seriously, I had a doc tell me once that if you ever had one on you, save it in the freezer in case you need to have it tested down the road for Lyme Disease. Made sense to me... |
omg ewwwww. i would have died!!! i didnt know humans could get ticks?!?!?!?!? how did you get it out?? |
I think I wouldve fainted! After Rocky's tick episode last week my imagination kept playing games on me, every little itch or tickle I thought was a tick! |

Didnt even think of saving him lol |
ur actually "lucky" it was just a tick, once back in HS i was sitting in class and didnt notice anything strange.. til i felt something kinda "land" on my head.. i ignored it cuz i thought it was the breeze.. then i felt on top of my head and felt this huge THING.. it was this HUGE overgrown grasshopper-looking beetle thing.. i dont even know what it was but it had a huge shell and it flew around and everyone screamed.. omg that thing was AT LEAST two inches!! |
omg I know the feeling..when I was 13 or 14 we had just adopted a dog from the pound and she was covered in fleas and ticks...a few days later I just came out of the shower and I was drying my hair and I felt something on my neck..and I told my mom to get it off and she said it was stuck:eek: so she got my dad to remove it. It turned out to be a dog tick which are harmless. But you should have kept it to be tested for Lyme disease I don't remember all the symptoms I looked it up for you...keep us updated:animal-pa http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme...e_symptoms.htm |
Ahhhh Did it latch to your skin or it was just in your hair? I am getting chills thinking about it. |
oh my goodness !! i would have a panic attack !! |
me too!!! just the though that it coul dbe in me....ahhh....i hope i never get one!! lol...do they only get in where hair is??? like on your head and around your neck area?? |

Man, what is it with the ticks lately? I guess it is "tick season". It seems like there have been more than a few with ticks on this forum recently. Yuck. |
You girls crack me up. Where Im from ticks are common and I grew up in the country. A day didnt go by that us kids didnt get ticks, I couldnt count the number of ticks Ive had in my lifetime. To answer someones question in here, no they just dont get in your hair they usually like to bury in places that are warm like your panty lines or bra lines or where your pants are around your waste. |

Must be going to have a bad season for them this year. I got one off Jazzy a couple days ago. Last year I didn't see any. |
We went camping last summer and I got a tick in my hair. I SCREAMED like a lunatic until my sister's husband pulled it out! I was a crying, screaming mess!! I made Jim take me home after that lolol and I will NEVER go camping again! I didn't even want to go in the first place. |
I just posted this link in the general forum but thought I'd do it here since it's a tick subject...this link has a map to check your state for Lyme cases so you can see if your at a big or nil risk...... http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme...sesbyState.htm |
Wow, did you see New York and Pennsylvania's numbers? |
