Prayers for premie, please My dtr's neice was born 3 months early. Her mom started have contractions so the Dr. gave her meds to stop them. She had a reaction to the meds and got so sick - coughing and throwing up - that she broke her water. They took the baby - Kirsten - C-section 3 days ago. The Dr. said she had a good chance for survival but would be in the hospital for 3 months. This morning her lungs collapsed and she is on a ventilator with chest tubes. I know she still has a chance (my Krysten was 2 months early and went thru the same thing but she was almost 6 lbs). Kirsten is 2 lbs 4 oz. I wasn't going to come on here, but I have seen what all the can do, so I am asking for some prayers for little Kirsten. Thank you. |
Sending tons of prayers your family's way. Good Luck. My sister is turning 20 this year. My mom was on the cusp of turning six months when she had her. My sister was literally the size of a budwiser can and weighed 2lbs. We had tons of complications with her including one time when she was almost dead and they were bringing a priest to give her last rights. We prayed and prayed and she came back to us. To make a long story short she is healthy and normal. So with lots of prayers and love she will make it. Girls are the fighters of the bunch according to the neonatal until at NYU where my sister was. So keep your chin up. |
Sandy, I am glad you posted this. You know how strong YT prayer's are. Kristen is a nice weight for being three months early. One of my co-worker's also delivered at 6 1/2 mos and her baby girl was under 2lbs and will soon be a year old and has caught up nicely. You would never know how tiny she was. It must be so scary for her family to see their baby so very tiny. Prayer's coming for baby Kristen and her family. God will watch over her and keep her safe. |
:getwell: :ghug: our prayers are with you. :hands: |
Thank you for your prayers. When Krysten (our 18 y.o.) was in the neonatel critical care, the Dr. had called us in to tell us it was no longer a matter of when she came around (she was on 100% oxygen and not responding - along with shock and a non-working bladdr) it was a matter of if, we were terrified. But he also told us that premies can survive things that adults couldn't because they don't know how to give up. They only know the will to live. And that is what makes them survive beyond the odds. The next day, we got a call - Krysten had make her turn that night and was down to 56% oxygen. A couple days later she came off the respirator and a few days after that they called and asked if we would like to take her home. The Neo-Natel centers are incredible. I know one girl who was born 25 years ago so early she didn't even have all her skin. She is a normal, healthy woman now. She, too, was a 2 lber. When Krysten was in, the tiniest baby I have ever seen was brought in and put in the isolette next to her. She weighed 1 lb. Her little legs were way tinier than my pinky. She survived. |
Are prayers are with your family and baby Kirsten.:hands: |
She will fight! Babies are the biggest and greatest gift and she already won a battle by surviving past her delivery and through her first night. |
Oh My!!! Kirsten has all our prayers.... :hands: :littleang :hands: |

I will keep you new mom and the wee babe in my prayers Oh I sure hope goes well. God bless. I was 2 months early. I know they have so many new things they can do for permature births and she is over the two pound mark and that is good. |
Little baby Kirsten is in our prayers :angel2dl: Please keep us updated on her. |
Thank you all for your prayers. I know the Neo-Natal Centers work miracles, and I have good thoughts for Kirsten, but extra prayers never hurt. She has a long way to go and her parents live about an hour away from the hospital. They have nothing, including insurance, so it is very difficult for them. They don't even have a home - they are staying with a friend. I really appreciate your kind words and prayers. |
Oh I'm so sorry... prayers for the little girl, she will be ok! |
:littleang :hands: :hands: :hands: Blessings and prayers for the family and the sweet little Kirsten! |
hey... one of my best friends had a baby on jan. 28 and was due april 13...and now she is at home almost five pounds heavier than what she was when she was born  little babies sure know how to fight...keep that in mind :-) |
our prayer are with the little baby and family. i know it can be a tough time and tough times are what makes us stronger. i had 2 nieces born premmies and the mom had toxic shock both times and the first was only ounces if i remeber and the second was 1 pound 2 ounces and they both lived, in fact the oldest is now 9 and she is mrs smarty mc smart smarts and the youngest just turned 1 in november. the only thing i noticed with the last one was she has been very behind in developemnt she turned one in november and she still doesnt walk or talk and she just cries all the time. my twins were a week early and they didnt walk thought till they were like i think 13 months and the other was 13 1/2 months. but prayers are coming your way and much love and dont let the fact of no insurance scare them or let the hospital scrae them because they can always go and apply for like medi cal if thats available where they live and medical will pay up to 3 months back on doctor bills and second some hospitals around here are rude if they think you dotn have insurance and they will try to tell you they cant do this or that but technically they ahev to treat you whether your race, gender, and insured or not. so just keep having faith and prayers. she will be just fine and her weight isnt bad either so she will be fine just keep us updated please |
God bless this little angel. Prayer going up now |
Prayers are going out for this little tiny angel. She'll make out fine. YT prayers come from good people. Hugs to you and your family, Judy |
We will certainly keep little Kirsten in our prayers! Please tell her Mommy we are praying for all of them .... I can only imagine how they must feel. |
Thank you all again for the prayers. Kirsten is in an isolette, not in the critical care part. So that's a good sign. I know premies are fighters, and I feel good about her, but I know how hard it is whey your baby is so far away and it's so hard to get to see her every day. The Dr. told them she would probably be there 3 months. They have a small child at home already. So it's that much harder for them. But I have faith in all the prayers that have been sent to her. |
Babies are great fighters we will keep them in our prayers |
Sending prayers for little Kristen! :) ~Marly |
I will pray for little Kristin! Bless her sweet little heart! I've heard of so many miracles when these tiny preemies are born and go on to live a normal life! |
Sending prayers for little Kirsten.:hearts-xx :hearts-xx :hearts-xx :hearts-en |
Bless this little angel!!! Prayers are flying her way... d |
Sending up prayers for little Kristen and her family and sending tons of hugs your way :ghug:. My oldest was born at 32 weeks -- 25 years ago. I know what you mean about the little ones being fighters. I liked the "they don't know how to quit" description. It certainly fits. Please continue to give us updates. When appropriate, I would really love to see pics of little Kristen! |
If it helps at all I work for a child developmental disabilities center and we see ex premies that were born at grams and are fine.....the wonders of modern technology are incredible.....my only recommendation once the baby comes home is have her evaluated by an early intervention agency....that way she can get any services she might need at that point to bring her up to par........sending lots of good wishes, hopes and prayers any questions please feel free to PM me......(I'm not a doctor or clinician though) |
The power of prayer is amazing!!!! There are so many great people on YT....so you did the right thing by asking people to pray for little Kristen. I will be praying for her, the doctors & nurses caring for her and the family!!:hands: :hands: :hands: Keep us posted!!! |
Update on Kirsten: She is doing better. No chest tubes - just feeding tube, tummy tube. She can have visitors, too. So, now it's just a matter of time. Her Daddy just started a new job today. Thank you, again, for all your prayers:) . |
