So annoyed, What would you do?? Im sooooo annoyed right now. My STUPID thug neighbors across the street have hondas that they work on and do all that stupid stereo crap on it and they are just sitting outside blaring thier base in thier stereo systems as loud as they possibly can. Im in the back room of my house and I can hear it (actually I cant possibly ignore it). Its vibrating all my furniture and knick-knacks on my shelf  They already did this for 45 minutes today from 4-4:45 and now 3 hours later they are doing it again. I have ADHD and I cant tune out crap like this so its very distracting while Im trying to work. PLus it just drives me literally insane Problem is, Im really shy and I dont know my neighbors or have the balls to personally go outside and yell at them to stop. So I thought about calling the police but everytime it seems like I finally decide I'm going to they stop the music. I also feel like the police have better things to do then come out here becuase my dumb neighbors cant turn down their stereo but still, I cant take it anymore! My hubby also thinks if I call the police the neighbors will know its me and this will start a problem. I already had to call the cops on them once when they had a really loud party at 2 am and they started a huge fight outside in the street. What would you do if you were me? Ive lived in this house for 4 years and the neighborhoods not bad at all, its just this one house that seems to be a problem. Should I call the police the next time they have thier stereo systems vibrating my house? They cant do that, right? There has to be something I can do :( |
Shana - I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Seriously - have you thought about trying some yoga relaxation techniques? You might find them helpful to help you "tune out". |
if you don't have the guts to go yell at them.. maybe you can write and leave them a note.. that way, they don't know that it's you... or... you can call me and hand them the phone next time they do that.. I'll be more than happy to yell at them |
Sorry about what you're going through--but hey- You can definitely call the police! I live in a condo complex and some obnoxious loser under me was playing loud music...maybe having a party, I don't know...It really sounded like he was chucking something against the walls too... Soooo, I called! A police officer came out, and it stopped! Of course *rolls eyes*. But he was so nice and just said to call again if I had an issue. Don't you know 10 mins after the policeman left, they start up again!!!! I seriously felt bad calling back, but I did because I was taking the LSATs the next day. Policeman came back, wasn't upset at all! As long as you don't call the emergency number, they'll come and should be really helpful. I would definitely call, don't feel bad! You need your peace and quiet too!!! :) |
That would drive me crazy too!! Okay Shana, I've seen your pictures and this is where being a cute girl is a huge perk. I bet if you walked over and sweetly said, hey guys, I'm working, any chance of you turning the music down?- Bet they'd trip over themselves to turn it down. Good luck- from one shy girl to another, I know it's easier said than done. |

Irionically Im too shy(petrified is more like it) to go over there and nicely say something, but if they get me mad enough I will possibly go over there and yell at them. They make me crazy! By the way the music has stopped now, thank goodness!:) |
I have the same problem, I live in the country and across the road they play their music so loud I can hear it in every room of my house. My dogs bark and bark when they play it so loud, I called them and told them about it too. They are in their late 30's and they need to grow up. so now every time I hear it I call over there and tell them. it drives me crazy. |

I wish I could do something like that to relax. Yoga and anythign like that doesnt work for me. Im a really high-strung, hyper person, and I have anxiety pretty bad so relaxing and tuning stuff stuff out just isnt a gift God blessed me with :( |
I'd complain to the police. We've got a young guy across the street that stays up all night long and works on his cars and used to have the music blaring. I gave him 3 days and complained. He works in silence now...:p |

Thats the other problem, the dogs go NUTS while my house shakes and the music is blaring outside. So even if I could tune it out, I cant possibly tune out the dogs  |
I actually don't think a pretty young girl should walk over and tell a few thugs to shut the music off. jmo Just complain to the police, they'll warn them. |
I am so glad they finally stop the music....If you can't stand it next time I would just call the police and ask them what you should do...surely if the keep it up some else will call in on them also....:) |

Hey Shana, Don't feel bad calling the police about this. If it makes you feel better, there's a back number you can porlly look up in the phone book for your local station and that way you don't have to call 911. Or like someone else said, you could leave them a note. But I know that might be a little nerve racking running over there and dropping a note at their door. Maybe your husband could walk over there and say something? OR bring Penny with you, and just say, "could you please turn that down because my house is vibrating." They aren't going to do anything to you, so don't be shy of that. The worst they could do is say 'no, mind your own business'. I know it's tough cause you don't want to get into a battle with your neighbors, but, its your neighborhood too, and you deserve a little peace. Good luck! |
Shana, my neighbor's house that is attached to mine, played his music and tv really loud and we could really hear that. Whenever I could, I turned my tv up loud and played my music loud and I think he got the message, cause it hasn't happend in a long time. ;) I don't know if your doggies would like you doing that or not. :icon5: If you have a personal CD player, maybe you could use that with headphones and that would help drown out their music. Whatever you do, I really hope it helps, that can be so..... annoying. Good Luck. :goodluck: |
Maybe when they are playing their music really loud you could take your dogs out front and let them freak out in front of the loud neighbors. Atleast maybe they will notice the loud music bothers your pets. Or right after they shut off their music you can turn on some loud classical music :p . |
We have a loud noise ordinance down here. So even if your going down the street & your music is so loud it vibrates, you can get a ticket. I would call the police, not 911. & ask what they think. Tell them your situation, maybe they'll have a way to solve your problem. |
Why not send an email to the FWPD and ask how to handle? |
I HATE neighbor problems. If you talk to them, there's always the chance of an ugly confrontation. If you go to the cops, they're going to resent you. In the short-term, you ought to record it. Either a video or a tape-recorder. Record how loud it is in your house and out on the street. That way, if you do have to go to the cops, you'll have some evidence. Would hubby be comfortable talking to them? Or you could try giving them a brochure for an ipod shuffle and tell them to use it! |
Maybe talk to your other neighbours and all of you could file a complaint to your local police? Im sure if its bothering you it must be bothering others too...the police would be happy to help you out im sure...thats what they are there for!! Good luck!! Dawn |
I would just muster up the courage and ask them to cut it down nicely. Music that loud can damage their hearing so they probably don't know how loud it is.:p Seriously though, I would be more upset if someone got the police involved than if they just came over and asked. If you ask and they still keep at it, THEN call the police. Of course, then they would know it was you and that wouldn't be good either. Ugh...no good way out of that I'm afraid. And speaking for myself as someone who has that 'stupid loud radio stuff in her car' let me just say that it is extremely RUDE of your neighbors! They know good and well that is disturbing. I would never DREAM of playing my stereo that loud near houses. When I turn off the main road, the radio goes off. :thumbdown |
Shana, I am adding my sympathies to those you have already received. Call me an old grouch, but when people have the base in their music turned up loud enough for me to "feel" the vibrations, it makes me very aggressive. I want to scream! If everyone reacts to the vibrations like I do its no wonder tht there is so much violence in the world today. If I ever have road rage it would be because some jerk stopped behind me -- even 16 cars back with window shaking base blaring. Mike had a GREAT idea. Use a video camera and record the sound and the vibrations. Neighbor problems are the worse kind 'cause no matter what you have to live with them.....Maybe you could overcome your shyness and mosey on over and talk to them very nicely about the music--assume that there is some good in all people until proven other-wise. If that doesn't work, then call the police. I really truly believe that that type of music is harmful to our health..... My oldest son's bedroom is underneath my sewing room -- he is a dear sweet boy, but I have to remind him at least once a week that his music is vibrating my floor. I bring him upstairs to "feel" it and he will tune it down...... |

I hear you! I have tried many relaxation things, cd's, books, techniques - none work for me. Well, shopping helps a little.  I have to take anti-anxiety meds or I would be up the walls. I would call the police for sure. They have no right to disturb a whole neighborhood like that! I would be scared to go over there, too. Who knows what the guys might do, you know? I have called the police before about this kind of stuff and I asked them if it was a waste of their time and they said no - that's part of their job. I do tend to get boiling mad at plain old rudeness like this... |

i wouldnt worry about calling the police thats what they are there for. ive had to do it before and id do it again. i dont need to hear their music if i wanted to hear music id put on my own music and listen to what i wanted to hear not them. our neighbors here in town do this and hubby cant stand it. they are always outside and blaring their music they listen to country hubby hates country so he is always taking his cd player out and blaring his music and they dont much like that. hes into the techno and nine inch nails ozzy stuff. |

And no on the hubby, he's more of a weiner than I am. I would have called the cops today, hubby was the one that told me not to, said it would cause a problem because they would know it was me. |

Its for General use/questions |
OMG!!! I go through the same exact thing, believe me, call the police it helps, don't go talk to them because they will know its you. Just be sneaky about it otherwise you will have problems with them. Don't call the 911 number though and if you want to get the cops out quicker........ Well, let me PM you what I do and it works. And if they turn it back on after the cops came out call the police right back the guys will get sick of it and will eventually stop believe me I have had a few of them, everytime I shut up one another one starts so I start calling the cops on them, and I will keep it up for my peace and quite  . I know what you are talking about that base it's VERY annoying I start going crazy with it, so I know I better call the cops before I do something stupid and regret it later. My bf works in construction and he brought home some noise reduction ear things (they look like those really big head phones), OMG they are my best friends until the cops get here, because sometimes those damn cops take forever, thats why I learned some tricks :p . So DEFINATLEY call the cops you DO NOT have to give your name, the only problem with that is when you don't give your name all the cops can do is tell them to turn it down, but they cannot enforce it until you sign a complaint and then they will have to stop or they will get a ticket, and if they get a ticket and turn it on again they will get another ticket and if they do it a third time they get locked up for 30 days, plus another ticket, but the bad part about that is they will know you called because you have to sign the complaint and put your address and all that personal stuff on it.. I have never done that just because I don't want problems eitheir, but it's nice to know something can be done about it. But I bet your but I will call the cops annonoumaously ALLLLLLLLLLLL the time, even the cops will get sick of coming out and they will get mad with the guys and make them stop and possible arrest them, not only that but if the guys are doing something wrong/illegal or is wanted on an arrest warrant or a million other things why they wouldn't want the cops coming to their house house all the time, they will just stop.. Girl PM me I have some stories about my cop calling days, I'm going to PM you right now.. |
