I was taking one pill only at nighttime. If I went to bed right after I took it, I was alright. If I stayed awake longer than 45 minutes to an hour...I was so sick in my stomach. I was down to less than a 5 a day...so I quit the smokes and quit the pills. Just couldn't stand the nausea all the time. This Wednesday will be one whole week smoke free. I just don't want them anymore. When I have an urge..I get up and go do something else. I hate smoking! I won't smoke another one no matter what. Forgot to say that hubby said he is down to less than 1/2 pack a day with one week left to go on the pills. They didn't make him sick at all.....figures! |
i dont feel sick anymore.. well for now.... inm glad your doing it.. |
I know you can do it too Gina. I think I just finally reached the point where I absolutely hated it. I hated the smell, hated the people looking at me, trying to find a place to smoke where it wouldn't bother anyone...just everything. It was just too much of a pain and so were the pills. I'll say a prayer and keep my fingers crossed for you, you can do it. |
thanks for the prayers, i need them... i still want to smoke though.. its just i dont know, maybe i get bored and thats what i think about. but im trying my best. my b/f will kill me if i smoke again, but i dont listen to him anyway.. ha ha...im doing it for myself and lexi girl |
I'm really pulling for all of you who are trying to stop smoking. It's very hard, and you should all be super proud of yourselves! :bravo: |
Gina, Just wondered how you were getting along. I started the nicoderm patch yesterday and this morning had a serious struggle about whether or not to stop at the convenience store and get cigs, but I made the decision to stick with the quit. It is really hard. I haven't told too many people as I have tried and failed so many times. I hope you are doing well on the Chantix - I have heard alot of good things about it. Jackie |
hi jackie,, its not that bad,, everytime i really think i want a cig, i puff on my nicotrol for a second, it relieves the urge.. i think.. i did try the patch one time, it made me so so sick i had to leave work, and i went back to smoking... this is working cause im letting it work... of course i want one and real bad too.. i just want to stop thinking about it... will i ever be a normal non smoker.. |

I am so glad to see this post. I've been a smoker for a long long time and I've never heard of this pill. Hubby just laid his down years ago and never smoked another, I dont have his will power. But If I could take something like that I would try it. I do have to pay for them and its expensive and its just like setting fire to your money plus its not good for anyone. Not even our dogs. I have allergies and so does Maggie. Is this a prescription to get from your dr or what. My dr has never mentioned it to me and she knows I smoke. Would someone please reply here and let me know how to get this. I will tell my dr and see if she will give me a precription for it if thats how you get it. I really need to quit and just havent been able to on my own. I am the only one in my immediate family that smokes. please reply |
You can do it! Oh Gina, I know exactly how you feel - "will I ever feel like a normal non smoker". It is such an internal battle - when I smoke I feel like a complete loser and when I don't I can't stop thinking about them. And all the people who say how much we smelled, etc. we KNOW that - it is such an addiction. I was aware of all that - even standing outside of work in the cold - I already felt bad enough without people being snobby about it. I keep telling myself if smoking was so wonderful, why was I always trying to quit! Anyway, here are positive thoughts coming your way. Hang in there! I know we can beat this! Jackie:) |

The pill is called Chantix. Here is a web-site: www.chantix.com My Dr. didn't mention it to me either. We asked him. Dr. and pharmacist said it is getting rave reviews. Here it costs $116 but our insurance paid $86 of it so we only paid $30. I hope it will work for you. |
Way to go, Gina! Your boyfriend is right on this one...you really need to quit. You are so pretty, and smoking will make you wrinkle early. That would be such a shame. Stick with it. |
hows it going? well how did it work? i see you havnt posted since april, wondering if it worked for you or not.... I picked mine and hubbies chantix up today, we will start tomorrow together..i hope this works.. im afraid of the feeling sick side effect ..it sounds bad the way a few of you tell about it. and i hate feeling sick. with our insurance it only cost us each 25......we each have a pack left and hoping to not buy anymore........ question...the bad taste in your mouth..is that only if you smoke? or do the pills just do that to you? |
