Thank you for your sympathy! There were many times I thought I was going insane and just wanted to sit there and cry! :( |
I am a full time student working on my major in Finance adn a minor in computing and economics. (I am a sophomore). I work partime while in school then 40 hours a week while out of school (during breaks). |
Currently I am an educator/lecturer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute teaching Professional Development to engineering seniors (about 50-75 per course and 5 courses a semester). It is quite the challenge teaching a required course and I barely survived my first semester. Before I decided to leave AK I was teaching public speaking at the University there and before I went back to get my master's I was an esthetician in a salon. Now, I am planning on pursuing my PhD in Professional Communication and Organizational Development hopefully starting next Fall. |
There are a lot of teachers here. What were we thinking when we got into this profession? I ask myself that sometimes. |
I am a Data Systems Specialist in the Finance dept for a major Insurance company. I have worked for them for 25 years specializing in healthcare Data. Not my dream job but GREAT pay, never could find anything that paid as much so I never changed fields as I got too used to the salary. I do the root cause analysis for all the Data Quality problems with the Systems warehouse OH, I also own/run 3 Children's pageants. YES the Jon Bonet kind - but we make it all about the kids, including a big PJ party with DJ and lots of prizes etc. The kids really do enjoy them! |
2 Attachment(s) Hi Everyone! I just recently graduated from college last week. Hurray!!! I'm finally done with school. I am a Registered Dental Hygienist. I can't believe I did it. I will not be able to work for a couple of months because I have to wait until my license comes in the mail which is kind of a long process. I have been wanting a puppy for a while now, but have not been able to because I was always so busy with school. I figured now that I just graduated this would be a perfect time to be home with my baby. I just got my baby Emmie 4 days ago and I absolutely love her to death. She will be 14 weeks tomorrow and weighs 1lb 9 ounces. She is super tiny. She was a graduation present from my boyfriend. She is the best present I have ever gotten. She couldn't have come at a more perfect time. :) |
I am a Project Manager for a Pharmaceutical Marketing company. I'm also mom to a 12 year old girl and 14 year old boy. |
I'm a Web Developer for Turner Broadcasting/CNN Interactive Michael |

Small world! Lisa |
Hi everyone, I've enjoyed reading your stories. I graduated from college with a degree in accounting and worked as a CPA for 3 years before moving into private work for a large coal company. I worked there for 4 years until my first child was born and have been a stay-at-home mom ever since, excluding a temporary stint as a secretary at my church (I loved that job!!). I have a daughter who is 18 and will be going away to college in the fall to study elementary education (I was thrilled to see so many teachers on here!) and an almost 12 year old son. I feel truly blessed to be able to stay home with my kids. When my son is able to drive I may look for something or I may not. My friends and family are spread out all over and it seems I'm forever going off to visit them, ie, no time to work, LOL!! |

My husband and I own a bakery/deli in winnipeg. We have a wholesale division that we deliver to restaurants, hotels, golf coarses etc. We also have a retail store front that we sell deli fresh salads, soups, prepared foods gourmet coffee. An exciting new line that we are venturing into is dog treats. Right now we manufacture for a company in Canada called Dr. Deans and these treats are made with 100% human grade ingredients. They are so good that my husband Gerard and Sedrick both get rewarded with these for good behavior!! Gerard loves to snack on them everynight!! Anyways we are also working on a private label line for LARGE pet store chain in Canada and the US and hopeful once all the red tape is cut through you will be able to purchase them!! I will keep you posted. My primary purpose in life right now is being the best Mom to Sedrick and nurse him through his recovery. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. |

Jobs I am in printing and have been for the past 25 years. I work in the prepress dept. and it is all digital now. I am just thankful to have a job here in Denver. My biggest accomplishment thus far this year is no more smoking after 30 plus years of it Bo appreciates it. Everyone seems happy with their jobs for the most part. I am happy for you guys. |
I work for an insurance company (claims department) facilitating the defense of doctors in medical malpractice claims. Basically, I'm the liaison between the doctor and the attorneys we have defending them. (A lovely job! I get paid to push attorneys and doctors around :eyetearss ) OK, so that's my vocation...As an avocation, I'm really enjoying myself learning (3 years now) to play the flute. I play in a band at our local Conservatory of Music during the school year, am in a flute quartet year round, and take private lessons on Saturday mornings (with all the rest of the kids....Swear to God, the kids with lessons just before and after me are probably all of 7 or 8). OH....and I spoil Yorkie girls ROTTEN!!!!!!   |

I could of sworn I replyed to this thread, but didn't see it so, I'll say again: Hey KP, I was an X-ray and Mammo tech for 20 years. Now I am a Project Manager for a Pharmaceutical Marketing Company. I was also on our Board of Education for 6 years (2 years as president). I have 2 kids, Megan is 12 and Kevin is 14. Quite the busy life, but I love it! |
:aimeeyork Mainly I've been mom to my four kids that are all grown now ages ranging from 26 -31. I've worked on and off doing alot of different jobs from fixing hair to cashier. I'm babysitting now for one of my grand-daughters full time. ( I had forgotton how hard it is to have a toddler!! ) I'm dreaming and studying to become a hobby-breeder . I've LOVED yorkies for 20 years and owned them for almost 14. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time and finally have the time. This has been so interesting reading about everyone..! :) |
I work in the Accounts Payable department for a Pharmaceutical Company. Basicly, the job is the kid that gets his milk money stolen from him on a daily basis!! All day long - where's my money? where's my money? where's my money?! URGH!! But I'm not stressed though... |
Teri88.... did you have to take the HOBET test? i can't remeber what it stands for Health Occupations something. The program here only excepts 14 students each fall and my scores need to be in the 70s or 80s on all three parts to get in not to mention the other stuff. i'm so stressed about it and i still have a year to take it and retake it, lol. |
