Common Courtesy? I fell at work yesterday outside my teaching building and while I cracked open my knees on the concrete they will heal. What really surprised me was that it was in a very busy walkway of campus and not ONE person stopped to ask if I was okay. Plenty of students stopped to point and laugh at me but nobody had the decency or courtesy to just say "are you ok?" I'm so saddened by this and I guess just need to vent. And if you ever see someone fall a simple "are you ok" would really make a difference. |
I'm so sorry that happened to you. Are you okay? (besides your hurt feelings) Judy |
 :thumbdown That is horrible. If I was there I would have rushed over! Are your knees ok? I hope so:( People can be so inconsiderate! |
I would have come to your rescue, Kim! That's really odd...I would have expected at least a person or two to make sure you're ok. I hope you heal fast! |
What's with students now a days. I would have definately stopped & helped. Hope your knees are all right. |
wow, that is awful. I have always been a klutz and have had my share of falls and people have always asked "are you okay"? I just can't imagine a crowded place, not even one person had any common decency!! :thumbdown Hope you are okay! |
I am so sorry! This really saddens me to even read :( What is wrong with people? :thumbdown |
Thank you all. I am fine, just bruised with big cuts on both my knees. I need to invest in some cute band aids :) And let me suggest dress pants from Victoria's Secret, they weren't ripped or torn after that fall! It was so unreal to me that nobody asked if I was ok. And the people that laughed really hurt my feelings. I was really saddened by human behavior yesterday and can't stop thinking about it. |

what is wrong with people??? That is very disturbing. I probably will be thinking about it all night. I am so sorry that happened to you. |
I am so sorry you had to deal with that. I truely hope you are ok and just so you know i would have stopped and waited with you. It's so hard to find decent people now days who have any courtesy or morals it's all about them. As i was picking up a prescription for Daisy one day i had turned the corner and seen an elderly lady lying in the gutter i slammed on my brakes and came to a complete stop in the middle of the road there were 2 gentle men who were helping her up i asked if they needed my cell phone they said they had it under control. I couldn't just leave because i have a little medical knowledge and i had to make sure she was ok so i pulled to the side of the road i had my 6 yr old son with me i wanted to show him that you always stop to make sure they are ok. The woman had severe injury to her wrist and i'm pretty sure she broke her hip she had fallen in the mud as she tried to get up on the curb. She wouldn't let the men help her so she asked me to help her get some tissues out of her purse. She was disoriented and very upset. I was so happy that these 2 men stopped to help her it brought tears to my eyes knowing there are some good people still out there or she would have been there for who knows how long. There are some good people left but not a lot. I am so sorry there was no one there to help you i really am. But we are here for you now. and we send hugs for you to get better |
You know...... As I read your post, I too felt saddened. It is just down right MEAN to watch someone fall and not offer to help them get up. I am sure that the parents of the students who laughed would be extremely dissappointed in the behavior of their children.......or maybe if you by chance ever see them again....you can make a comment in "jest" mentioning "thanks for helping me up from my fall the other day......."  I know that this hurts your feelings worse than your knees......and I am just speechless as to what is WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!But, then again.....I watched the news lately where a young man robbed and punched in the face...... a 90 year old lady....this too makes we want to grab them by their ear...like my granny did...... I hope you feel better....:D |
OMG some people these days!!!!! I hope you are ok and your knee starts to feel better |
It must be something to do with peoples conditioning, not wanting to get involved and not having an open mind.I have seen people walk by an old man laying in a gutter, more than likely assuming he is a drunk.Never taking into consideration he may be someones beloved grandfather, perhaps a diabetic, in need of urgent medical attention. Its a sad sign of the times. A few years ago I happened to take a local city bus while visiting Vancouver. The bus was full of healthy young people.A pregnant woman got on clearly in her last month. Not one person offered to give up their seat to her.Although I am not normally too vocal.I can't recall what I said, but she had a seat pretty quick.I think generally people are good they just sometimes need the right example to learn by and sometimes are far too quick to judge.I really hope your feeling better and wish you a speedy recovery.:) :) :) |
Awwww... I hope you feel better. The same thing happened to me years ago on a busy street, I feel and twisted my ankle so bad that I sat in the street for 5 mins before being able to stand up and hobble away. Not one person offered to help me and one lady was right there when I fell, she stopped and stared at me and then walked away. One of my girlfriends was also once in a very busy grocery store with her three small children when her two year old suddenly became unconscious in the shopping cart. She pulled her out and lied her on the floor as dozens of people walked by as well as many staff as she was at the checkouts. No one helped her or even stopped to see what was the matter. She had to scream at the cashier to call an ambulance. |
