Quick Question This might be a stupid question but nonetheless, My sister called me and she has strep throat and wants to know if her dog can get strep throat? Does anyone know? |
No, I don't think dogs can strep. But remind her to throw out her toothbrush and get a a new one. I also keep new ones on had for Haley when she gets strep. Also, don't drink or eat after her because you can catch it. |
No dogs cannot get strep |
Thanks for your responses! |
I asked this question when I first got Coco and had loads of responses. Apparently, we cannot give our viruses to our babies. Human viruses do not transfer to our pets. I even asked our vet and she confirmed :D Hope your sissy feels better ;) |
I don't know a lot about this but there are diseases that can pass between the two species. They are called Zoonotic. Strep is one of them. The dog can be a carrier and pass it on to other family members. On each page it is about half way down... http://www.vin.com/VINDBPub/SearchPB...00/PR00108.htm http://www.healthypet.com/library_view.aspx?ID=61&sid=1 http://www.druginfonet.com/index.php...rep_Throat.htm I have no idea how often this happens but better safe than sorry. No kisses until she is better. :nursing: |

My vet told me that Hannah could catch viruses from us. I know that strep is not a virus so I am not sure if she could catch that. |
i dont think they can but i know its very very easy to catch it person to person i got it once working at my sons preschool and i told the teacher a week or so later and she was like wow none of my kids had been sick and turns out it was one little girls mom and the littel girl didnt have the symptoms but she was carrying it and i was like wow and it wasnt nice or pretty either, it was irritating |
Not sure about strep, BUT the vet just told my aunt's Yorkie that Isabel has tonsillitis. |
