Like i said before no i don't think everyone should be a breeder but some really have a love for it and if the can do it the right way why bash them for it? If one day you decided i love this breed and i want to become a breeder to better the breed and you came on here for advice to get started and you got slammed because you have no idea what your doing and how dare you think you can be a breeder and not a BYB how would that make you feel when you just came to get advice? What if you weren't sure if you wanted to breed or not and just wanted advice and you got slammed for it? what if it was your very first post would you come back?

Great post I agree. You don't have to agree just try to answer their questions.
For that matter its really ok to disagree just do it tactfully. I know people will give me a hard time but when you feel you have to defend yourself it tends to bring out your inner animal!

Thanks Dobie and you are prime example of how bashing new members goes there are people who dispise you here but you were attacked from day one and had to constantly defend yourself. I'm not just talking about the breeding section either it's all the hot topics here that we need to be aware of.

Exactly. But who made all of us God and the final word? Who here can tell if someone is going to be a bad breeder just from some questions on a forum? This is maybe where they are getting their feet wet. It is good to give them info and let them make their decisions on their own. Knowledge is power so why not give them more power to choose the right direction! Turning them away may send them in the wrong direction.

I was telling my hubby about some of the things going on YT and he feels the 'issues' are so common amongs all public boards...he belongs to an online car forum and same issues, rude people, rude comments, people feeling left out, theft amongst members etc.

None-the-less, this is an incredible forum where people learn so much and admin is such a nice group too! I'm not offended, I just roll my eyes from time to time and that is all.

Your welcome and this is a good post. I know some people here just want me to go away and it makes me sad:cry: to think they came to this conclusion because of how I defended myself. But such is life and I know you can't be all things to all people. That is why I commend your post here I think it would do YT alot of good for everyone to remember this.

I think you're absolutely right Amber. If everyone would read the post thoroughly it would help. Then ask theirselves these questions..1) are they wanting support, 2) do they want and need an answer and 3) do they want an OPINION. I always try to keep my opinions to myself unless my opinion is specifically asked for. I think this would help tremendously.

I had one rude response the other day when all I wanted was support, a shoulder to lean on.

Great questions to ask and also i would like to add a 4th: Can i give my opinion in a way that will be constructive and not be hurtful? If not you shouldn't give your opinion

I COMPLETELY agree with this. And I disagree that people who are not breeders shouldn't post their opinions. Just because someone doesn't breed does not mean that they aren't educated on the subject. There is probably a reason they don't breed and they may be trying to share their reasoning with the people who are thinking about breeding.

Opinions should be given, but definately in a tactful, non-confrontational manner.
