I didn't know so many people felt the same way I do sometimes. I have been a member for awhile, but have only gotten really involved with postings since January. I was a slow starter because I don't do chat rooms on the computer, so it took me forever to figure out what ROTFL meant. I finally had to ask my 17 old son what some of these stood for. I also didn't know that I probably high jacked many threads. I think I have finally learned the do's and don'ts. I just hope I didn't offend anyone in the process because that truly was not my intension. People that know me know that I am a real kidder, but sometimes it's hard to relay emotions on here, so I hope I didn't send out the wrong message. I was an absolute idiot when it came to yorkies too. This site has helped me in soooooo many ways. I will be returning to work on Monday after being off since December 18th and it's really going to be hard. I may have to take my laptop with me. He He |
I started feeling like I really belonged when someone created the thread that was to the effect of, "Name as many YT yorkies as you can," And ALOT of people named Hootie and Hobbs! Yes, their names are unique and quite quirky, but to know that people actually know who they are really made me feel special. |

I think I felt like I belonged as soon as I joined. My mom had already been a member here while we had our first yorkie. When he died and she posted a thread about it, I was amazed by how caring everyone was. I joined right after that and people welcomed me with open arms. :) |
:) I think everyone feels that way in the beginning. I have been here practically since YorkieTalk was in diapers!! :p At first, the handfull of us that joined were sorta talking among ourselves and were thrilled to get to read a half dozen posts a day!! Since then, I have seen hundreds come and go but all in all ... it's "come a long way, baby"! We are all family even though there are times we don't see eye to eye!! ;) |
I am not sure if I belong yet but........ Quote:
I have no family in this state and I haven't met any 'quality' friends here either. People are much colder out here ya know........if you attempt to strike a conversation at the checkout lane at the grocery store.......they look at you like you're nuts! I was raised in sunny Arizona.........I miss it every day :( However, I have met lots of quality friends on YT.........it's been a blessing finding this site. I still don't think 'I belong, or fit in'............but I post away nonetheless :D I talk to a few people via PM and they rock my world or friendship..........so it's all worth it at the end. I am a thread-killer at times, but don't take it personal. ;) I LOVE reading/learning about others' furbabies...........so I rather spend my free time here than on TV or attempting to meet frivolous people around here.......haha!! So yeah, who knows if I will ever belong........a couple thousand posts later and I am still roaming around ;) |

Well, rest assured that I know BOBBI!!!!!!! And I've looked at your dogster several times in the past so I know you have a little black poodle as well! And I know when I was trying to figure out whether to order Chrismas Cards from Villette, she sent me a sample with Bobbi's picture on it. I'll never forget that precious wittle face!!!!! :D :D :D |

On one of my first threads, I got slammed really bad, and several people PM'd me and told me to ignore the slammers. I still didn't feel like I belonged, but I felt it was a place that if I stuck around long enough, that I would make some friends. A good way to get known is to get involved in a controversy. However be sure that you now what you're talking about else you might end up looking like a fool. |

ditto...I've had over 500 post and sort of feel out of it still, although I have made a few really good friends (super nice helpful people). Sometimes I wish it wasn't as 'clickish'....I'm on here practically EVERY day! |
I felt I belonged after my first GE. Its really exciting to give and to recieve and , of course, you have something in common, the gift. |
