I was just thinking...
I see a lot of people sending gifts to each other..and I don't know if there is some kind of "group" to join to get a "puppy pal" but I thought it would be fun if we could all join in on a "puppy pal" program. I would be willing to keep up with it. I was thinking something along the lines of..

If you want to have a "puppy pal" that you would want to keep in touch with, share special moments with, and send special things to, just pm me with your name and I will create a database that keeps up with all of the names. I would arrange them in no special order, but it would pair people up. I would let you know who your puppy pal is and the rest is up to you. just every so often, send a little love to your pal. for birthdays or other special days, send a special package. nothing major, just something sweet. we all love to get gifts and we all love to have friends.

what do you think? be honest. If you think it is a horrible idea, then tell me. You wouldn't have to join in if you did not want to...or if you feel it would be an inconvenience. there would be no pressure and no one else would have to know that you didn't want to join. we could do everything via pm's and nobody would have to know who did and who didn't join..unless you choose to tell them.

I think it would be fun, but would love to hear your thoughts and you ideas on how we could make this work.

I have not put a ton of thought into it, just something I thought of this morning.

I think it would be nice to have a special yt friend, like a secret pen pal...like the yt exchange...but you wouldn't know who it is for say a year, then you would find out and get a new one...there are alot of people on here, and alot you really don't know much about, but having there birthdays, there kids, furkids....like have all there important dates, and just send cards or little letters to them or little gifts, I think its a great idea....:)

I think it's a great idea as well. Would you have a database that would have all of that info? Their birthdays, the kids bdays, furbaby bdays, etc. I think it would be hard to make it where you didn't know who it was for a year, though. What would you call the person for that whole time? :) But changing the puppy pals up would be good; it would give each person a chance to get to know other people better. I like it!

All I need to get it started would be a couple of people to want to do it. sounds like we have that. So...if you want to be involved, pm me your name, mailing address, and any information you would want your puppy pal to have....your bday, furbaby's names and bdays, kids and their bdays, anniversary, any special dates you would like us to celebrate. you dont have to include all of that stuff, just the stuff you want your puppy pal to know.

sound good? then I will enter all of that stuff into the database and we will get this started. I will pm you with your pup pal's information. I dont see any need to keep it a secret from your pal, the idea is to get to know new people and make some friends. I have realized that you can really get to know some people here if you reach out. and if you are ever traveling for one reason or another, you can stop in a town and maybe already "know" someone. go have dinner or something while you are in town. so this is a way to help people reach out and get to know some really great people.

Give me a couple of days to send you information, as this is tax time and I am pretty much working overtime every night, but would sure like to meet new people and have someone to talk about our babies with..Great idea!

Hey is there a way we can recommend this to admin. and use this to help raise funds for the sight. pepe mint you can still be in charge but if we had a special forum just for secret pals. And maybe make a donation to YT to be included ( amt doesn't matter) I don't know. It sounded good in my head:p I'll participate either way.

i think that is a GREAT idea... that way you have to be serious to participate (i feel close to this idea since we are curretnly having GE issues) and PLUS it helps raise money.. like 10 bucks or something! great idea!!

As a former organizer and participator of all Secret Santas, Boo Buddies, and all that other in the office stuff.... I'm in!! I love this stuff!

this is a great idea. if someone can let me know how, where, or who I need to talk to about this. I would love to be able to raise money for YT but I certainly don't want that to hinder people...I dont know that I would want to REQUIRE people to donate...the goal is to help people to get to know each other. let me put some more thought into this aspect of it but I am not closed to the idea of trying to raise money for YT in the process.

I am so glad everyone likes this idea. I am very excited to do this. Hubby is building me a nice database to store all of the info. I have a few people that have sent me their info already and I will be loading it into the database as soon as he is finished with it. I will then start pairing the puppy pals...it will be a random pairing. so you might get a puppy pal of the same sex, or you may get a pal of the opposite sex. but this is going to be a lot of fun. and I think we would switch pals once a year. does that sound ok??

I think the donation is a good idea. I have participated in some secret pals in other types of forums (nothing to do with yorkies) and sometimes some pals would drop out and leave their pal out in the cold without saying anything :(...

Looks like the thread got moved :( oh well....

I am going to put some more thought into this...I literally posted that without thinking it all the way through :) but everyone has brought up some great points. I will want to make sure everyone is participating. I would hope that we can come up with some way of making sure of this. I will think about it some more. I certainly want to have some guidelines. I think that once a month, you should send something to your pal. doesn't have to be anything major, but at least a card, maybe some treats or something. and if you do not get a package, wether it be a card, pictures, treats, SOMETHING...then let me know and I will mention it to your pal. this way you do not have to say anything to them. if someone is not participating, we will have to find a new buddy for the pal that is left hanging. do you guys think once a mnonth is fair? Or should we stick to just special occasions such as bdays, anniversary's, holidays, etc?

let me know what you think and I will put some basic guidelines in place.

if you haven't already, can you please pm me with your email addresses so I can keep that in the database as well? this way we can keep a good communication level.
