Please pray for my daughter Kimika, I posted last week about her being undecided about naming our puppy. I haven't introduced our new puppy yet, it's been so hectic getting Kodak to adjust. Kimika bent down last night to pick up the puppy and couldn't. She says her chest hurt really bad & I told her if it continued I would take her to the Dr. on Thurs. (my off day). This morning she was having trouble breathing and putting on her clothes. So I had my mom drop me off to work and take Mika to the medical center. The medical center called to say she was being rushed to the hospital. At 17, they told me her left lung collasped. :( I had never heard this happening to a child or teen unless it was a car accident etc., so I was in shock. I cried all the way to the hospital and stayed till we could get her to stop throwing up and go to sleep. Visiting hours in Intensive care were over so I had to come home to let Kodak out and check on the new puppy. All family member were at the hospital so no one was home. I am in and out tonight and I needed to get online to get my mind off of this. Prayers work strength in numbers and I need all the prayers to help my daughter get better. They said she is one of 30% of people this happens to for no reason.

How frightening! I am so sorry! Please know that you guys are in my prayers!

Sending well wished to your daughter. I've heard of this happening to people especially in teens that are growing really fast. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

I am so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Kimika. This has got to be so scary for you both. I know what it feels like not to be able to breathe so I can only imagine how frightening this is for her. Keep us posted on Kimika's progress.

I am sorry this is happening to you, your daughter and your family. You must be a wreck. Trust the doctors to do everything they can to get your daughter back home to you. For what it's worth, Krysten (RoxyJosMom - my 18 y.o. dtr was 2 mos. premature. Her lungs didn't work. She had 3 of her 4 lobes blow out from the oxygen being pumped into them. 3 chest tubes along with all the other tubes and things she was hooked up to was terrifying - but she made it. She has 3 scars which I haven't seen since she got modest but one was shaped exactly like a dragonfly which is part of the reason I collect them now. Anyway, Kimika has a lot going for her and with all the prayers coming form YT, and the care from the Dr.s she should be ok. We will be keep her in our thoughts and prayers and send you hugs to help you get thru the next few days. God bless.

Thank you all for your prayers, it's greatly appreciated. I am going to hang around here just to keep my mind off it. I'm going to the hospital first thing in the morning.

I am so sorry this happened. Bless you both, I will pray for a speedy recovery. Have they gotten the lung re-expanded yet? Usually a chest tube is used. I knew of a young person in our town this happened to for no reason. She did fine, and has not had any more problems.

They have a chest tube in her now and she is recovering for 48hours. If the tube does not expand it to where it needs to be, they will do surgery. I am discussing this with the Dr. in the morning after Xrays are done. She looks so helpless.

Have faith and know that God never gives us more than He knows we can handle, I know its hard sometimes but we need to find the faith in ourselves that He has in us. At this point, do you have any ideas as to why her lung collapsed?

I too have said a prayer for a quick recovery and the strength for your family to get through this difficult time.

sorry to hear about Mika. i know how it is to have a sick child and the helplessness of leaving them at the hosiptal. my 6 month old is on a nebulizer and they don't know why he can't breathe.
i will pray that she gets better. you get some rest also!

I'm so so so sorry about your daughter and she has my prayers. If anyone understands what you're going thru tho everyone is different and has different problems, when it comes to our kids sometimes it feels like its more than we can handle and i'm one who truly understand how scary it is. my daughter was born with a rare heart disease. she had 4 open heart surgeries between 20 months and 12 years old. But of course thats nothing like what happened to your daughter but just telling you I know the meaning of scary and praying. I pray your daughter will be well once they get that lung fixed and I do believe she'll be ok. But prayers coming to her to get well and for you and yur family at this trying time to be strong. I've already said a prayer for yall.

Have her in my prayers....sometimes breathing in when your in a squatting positian can bring this on....its like a freak thng from what I understand.
