Dobie, (Brian?) Just wanted to tell you that I took a peek at your website. Mr Incredible is indeed a beauty of an animal. I'm not familiar with llamas myself, but would love to hear about them. He kind of reminds me of a standard poodle...at least from the back. Do they spit? Are they mean, or cuddly and love to be petted? Do folks keep them just as pets or is there a commercial use for them? Do they play with your Yorkies? I know a bunch of questions. Some may be pretty ignorant. I confess, I don't know anything about a llama. I'm interested to hear though! Thanks, Laura |
I see that all of this new found fame and attention has wiped poor Dobie out. Dobie just want to point out something on your website too. Did you put the bible verse on there before or after you shot the dog and hung it on the fence? That kinda seem a little out of place, kinda like the word "teacup" did on my site dont ya think? |

So - I went to your site and the llama is really gorgeous - what exactly do you raise them for ?? Are they just for showing ? and what is UP with the man in the Red Suit :D - is that susposed to be you ??? What's the letter "I" stand for on his chest ? a few words come to mind but I'm playing nice here :D |

Yes, they spit when they are mad, or trying to eat and other llamas try to get their food. Spitting is there way of saying back of buddy. There are several levels of spit too. Some just from the mouth like human spit. Then they pull some up from their stomach and then they pull some up from the rumen. EWWWWWW and it stinks All mine are sweet as pie and they are more like cats they will come to you if they want attention. Most folks just keep them for pets but you can use the fiber to make clothing and the such. No they would kill a yorkie. My dobie will run up to them and play thru the fence but they are not impressed |

so - can you be serious for a minute and tell me about your llamas ? what all besides showing do you do with them ? |

I show them and one day we may make a profit again. The industry is in the toilet at the moment but it is changing slowly. That is Mr. Incredible from the movie the Incredibles. Yes, I guess that could be me! |

When you say the industry is down - what exactly does that mean - people aren't buying llamas ?? Why would someone raise a llama .... I really AM interested but since I'm totally clueless as to what a llama breeder does - in between debates:p maybe you could fill me in ?? |

It means people have over bred the llamas and they did not pay attention to quality and then they were overwhelmed and are selling them for next to nothing. Early on it was typical to sell a llama for between $40,000 & $100,000 each now it is more like $200 to $2,000 if your lucky. People are buying but its just not like it use to be. Llamas are like Lays chips you can't just get one. We fell in love with them and well its all down hill from there. We show and llamas are also pack and do obstacles. Come to the Houston Rodeo and you will see all they do. I am the poster child for the llamas on the Houston Livestock show and Rodeo http://www.hlsr.com/ag/ls/hls_opnshow_lamalp.aspx |
I just realized I am a "Senior Yorkie Talker" What do I get for that? |
Don't llamas grow wool or alpaca or something that people can make clothes out of too? So do you shear your llamas? |
My Daughter and I have sweaters made from llama wool. They are very warm. Mine has llamas on it |

that's a shame about the prices for you - I had no idea they went for that kind of money wow  |

Sorry, nothing, just means you're old news now!lol |

I think Llamas were a novelty at one time. They're not like yorkies that you can keep in your house, so the demand is limited. |
