Anyone else doing Weight Watcher????

Well I started Weight Watcher on Jan 5th. My first weight in I lost an amazing 8lbs. I was so surprised!!! Well today was my 2nd weigh in and my goal was at least 2lbs... I lost 5.4lbs. Thats 13.4 lbs in two weeks. I'm so excited. I still have alot more to lose (100lbs) but this is a good start. I'm gonna set small 20lb goals for myself and take it pound by pound. I need to get healthy!!!!! My asthma has been worse and now my blood pressure is up. I've never had that problem. It seem like since I had Lexi 2 years ago, the pounds have just packed on. I think I tend to put all my energy in my kids and family and totally leave myself out. Its time to put me first!!!! I highly suggest it to anyone wanting to lose weight. Its the points system and it works great. :p :p :p

I'm back on WW. The first time I did I lost 25 pounds with no excerise. This is great!! Congrats. What plan are you doing? I lost 1.2 my first week, I go on Saturdays to get weighed in.

Cheska's Bella 01-18-2007 12:32 PM

I've been thinking about doing Weight Watchers. I've gained over a hundred lbs in the last two years (YIKES!) and I would LOVE to lose it.

chloeandj 01-18-2007 01:08 PM

Congratulations! That is really an awesome weightloss! I plan to take off 20 more pounds on Atkins then switch to weightwatchers for the last 20 and maintenance...:)

Ivy Lucille 01-18-2007 02:58 PM

I hardly ever come into the off topics forum--I don't know why but I just don't. I happen to peek in here tonight and I was so excited to see this thread! I started WW on Dec 26th. I have lost 12 1/2 pounds so far but I have a ways to go too. This isn't the first time I have joined it BUT it is the first time I have the attitude about it that I do now. I am doing WW online and am going at it as a lifestyle change and NOT a diet. It is not like a diet really. I am
actually enjoying it and feel so much better already. I love the point system!

It's great to know some others are doing it too! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Do you eat the frozen ww dinners? If not what is a typical dinner?

simonandhallie 01-18-2007 03:29 PM

ME ME ME!!! I'm doing it informally though (no meetings). My mom is a lifetime member and shares all of her materials and info with me.

My favorite thing about WW are the zero points foods~my best friends are green beans, broccolli and asparagus :)

Congratulations to all of you on a great weight loss so far! Keep it up!

Grayson's mom 01-18-2007 04:57 PM

Life time member here! Best diet there is and the reason is you can eat anything and not feel like you can't have that!!

I got some great recipe ideas from weightwatcher.com if you havn't been there GO

Fav snack was pumpkin muffins and they were 2 pt a muffin

spice cake mix
1 can of pumpkin

mix together and bake like box directions(temp and time) in muffin tins (so moist and yummy)

Shadow 01-18-2007 05:17 PM

that sounds yummy

I've been going since Dec with my sister and sister in law and have lost 12lbs but still have a way to go. My husband was away a week or so before Christmas and I bought the Smart Ones and Lean Cusine because I didn't want to cook just for me but since he is home we have a regular meal every night. Jello sugar free pudding is a great treat. I'm doing Flex but my sister and sister in law are doing core-they have less to lose.

I have a WW dinner every once in a while--not too often though. I usually eat what my family is having unless I don't want to "spend" my points on that. I eat regular food and I eat what I want--keeping within my point allotment. It's a great program.

Hey guys. I'm currently doing Weight Watchers and did it in the past and can say 100 percent that it works great. I know you guys are saying, hmmm, did it in the past and now again how good can it work but.... this is what happened. I lost 30 pounds and kept it off for four years then became very ill and was diagnosed with Leukemia. I put the weight back on from being in active, meds. etc. Right now it seems like I'm in a reimission. Blood has been good for the past three months (Will be four months Jan. 30) so.. I started doing some light work outs and Weight Watchers.

It's a GREAT program. I do the point system as I did in the past. With regard to the dinners I personally love Lean Cuisine Margarita pie for 6 pts. the Lean Cuisine mashed potatoes and meat loaf for 6 points and in the w.w. dinners I like the rice and beans for 6 pts. OH and the desserts are delicious. I'm currently eating my snack now; Strawberry Shorcake 4pts. The eclairs are good too and they are 3 pts. then also the ice cream sandwhiches for 2 pts.

The key to doing well with the points is to figure out ahead what you are going to eat for the day otherwise you could over due it. The points go quick. I usually figure out my points for dinner in the morning then work around them, always allowing 4 points for a snack at night. Also, if you allow 2 pts. less then you can actually have that helps too. For instance if you are allowed 24 pts. per day and from the beginning only allow 22 points daily it really helps, especially for when your points drop due to weight change.

Good Luck to everyone and let's share our secrets as we go along.
Elaine

I am on Weight Watcher's -- but I am just doing it myself. I have all the books and am just logging all of my food/points in a spiral notebook. One reason I stopped before was too many missed meetings, usually for my son's sports. I decided I had learned what I needed and have all the information, now I just need to DO IT! I am down 10 pounds in 2 weeks.

Good luck to us all -- may there be a lot less of us in a few months. :)

chachi 01-18-2007 05:40 PM

My Husband has did the weight watchers diet and lost alot of weight in the past. He always goes off of it and puts the weight back on though. When hes off of it he does not monitor how much he eats though. He is getting ready to go back oon it and i might go on it too. I would llike t lose about 20 lbs

Shadow 01-18-2007 05:43 PM

thats what I would like to lose 15-20

FlDebra 01-18-2007 05:50 PM

One Point Snack/Dessert -- "Baked Apple" : Core an apple, but leave the bottom. Sprinkle inside with artificial sweetener, cinnamon and maybe a little nutmeg. Microwave for about 2-3 minutes --- ummmmm -- makes the house smell good while you're at it!
Peaches are good in microwave too -- especially if you get those little hard peaches that are not much good. Just heat in the microwave for 1/2-1 minute and they are suddenly soft and juicy.
Speaking of peaches...... Another treat that keeps me motivated -- Fat Free Peach Sherbet -- 2 points for 1/2 cup.

Francie 01-18-2007 06:10 PM

Woohoo! What a great start! You go girl!

I'm thinking of doing the Weight Watchers too.....

I LOVE WW! I lost 35 lbs about 4 years ago, but gained back 20 over the past 3 years since my husband has been sick - I'll use the old stress excuse. Really though, since he got sick and had to retire unexpectedly - I'm home lots more, I have to cook for him (he used to work evenings and I worked days) and I just gradually over 3 years put on 20 lbs.

I am happy to say that I have been back on WW for the past 3 months and, even through Thanksgiving and Christmas, I have lost 16 lbs. YEA!

I dont' go to meetings either - I started with WW at home and 2 other women at work and I did it together. We eat lunch together almost every day and we weighed in once per week.

I usually eat a WW or Lean Cuisine each day for lunch - so easy to take to work and heat up. I eat with the family in the evening or if I want, I might eat another WW frozen meal if the point count it too high in whatever the rest of the family is eating.

I think it is a great way to eat!!! I'm currently on a break - not from the diet, but from trying to lose - I'm just maintaining right now because it just isn't the right time to diet diligently. That's why I love WW, you can go maintenance or full throttle at any time.

I'd LOVE to hear some WW recipes or other tips!

I love to snack on low fat popcorn, especially the low fat kettle corn. I'm a salt NUT so I have to have salty snacks. I also snack on fat free pringles sometimes. I too, LOVE point-free foods, especially asparagus! I use just a touch of "I can't believe it's butter-light"

DENISE517 01-18-2007 06:51 PM

Well I was embarrassed.....but I did it 3 years ago and lost 110.lbs. Never in a million years did I think I'd gain it back. We decided to have Lexi, and boom....it's all back and 10lbs plus..uggg!!!!!!! Thank God I'm Back.. I just can't live this way anymore.

I know this time I will keep it off cause it was sooo much better. I felt good about my self then. I think sometimes now I get grouchy because I'm mad at myself for my weight. I know I was a much happier person then.

I do the box foods for lunch since I'm at work. But for supper I made everyone eat healthy.. Baked Chicken, Baked Potato w/ ff sour cream and spray butter.(0 calories...you have to be careful which one you buy) green beans, etc

Pork Roast w/ potatoes and carrots, Chicken soft Tacos,
Salads, BBQ Ham Pita Pizzas. etc. there are so many more healthy meals. Get on weightwatcher.com and there are alot of recipes. Also go to www.dwlz.com She has a list of every restruant around the united states and has the points for everything. It is a great site. Has lots of info too.

Its really good to take a graham cracker put ff cool whip and drizzle sugar free choc syrup over it, then put the top on it...Freeze for over 1 hr...Taste like an icecream sandwich for 2 pts. really really good. My kids love them!!!

The pita pizza's you get ff pita bread, put BBQ sauce, Low Fat Ham and sprinkle w/ 2% cheese. You can eat the whole thing and really filling for 7 or 8 points (depends on how much ham and cheese you put on it)

Smoothies... get ww yogurt drink 1 pt. put frozen fruit in it (I use strawberries, cherries, and blueberries) fix it up in a blender or a Bullet (which I love) these are great. You can top with ff cool whip if you want. They are 3 pts if you want you can add 1/2 banana put add another point.

Love the pumpkin muffins like someone already said.

Ok.... this time I have thrown away my scales. Only get weighted once a week there at ww. I can tell you this..... It has made the biggest difference for me. I use to step on the scales 6-7 times a day. If I didnt see a weight loss I'd tend to get depressed and eat or a late night binge. So if you have scales and you are obsessed with them....throw them away.

Maybe we can all help support each other!!!!! Great job to all those who have been losing....It Works

DENISE517 01-18-2007 06:58 PM

i forgot to put bake the pita pizza's for 10 minutes. lol

That is a great site -- thanks for passing it along! I will have to get my son to show me how to download to my palm phone. They have a file of all restaurant foods for palm! How nice that would be. I usually just have to guess while I am out and then figure it up the best I can. I do have the Dining Out guide for points but it does not cover near enough restaurants.

One other question -- Does anyone have The Complete Weight Watcher's Cookbook? Is it worth it? Do you use the recipes a lot?

SweetCuteness 01-19-2007 08:08 AM

My aunt (who I lived with) was and still is on this. She's lost 150 pounds. She also uses dwlz.com every day!!

If desert is a problem for you, try Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches and fidgesicles - they are VERY good!! And I believe they're only 2 points. When I lived with her she would eat one every night after dinner. We ate a lot of chicken for dinner (and green beans). I came up with a bunch of different ways to make chicken - so if anyone wants suggestions, feel free to PM me!

One idea if you love mashed potatoes: instead of using milk and butter, buy the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray (it's 0 points!!), and dump some of that in there so that you only have the points of the potatoes. I would also add some garlic because we like garlic, but that's a personal preference. But only the spray is 0 points - the margerine form is more.

GOOD LUCK everyone that's on WW. I'm a Nursing student and I full-heartedly believe in the WW program (like they say, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change). It's the only "diet" that I think is healthy and will be long-lasting.
