Why do dogs....
 
Bury thier food with thier face using invisible dirt, and then 2 seconds later they start eating it again, only to start burying it again, and then they eat it again, etc, etc etc? :confused:

Im watching Penny do this right now, why do they do this?

I THINK it has something to do with when they were in the wild they would hide their food from other animals and keep moving it around to keep it safe.??????

Max does this...I have no idea why he does the silly things that he does...perhaps he claiming the food as his own (since he shares the bowl with
Abbie). He also buries his toys with invisible dirt and seems to get frustrated when they are still visible after he worked so hard "burying" them :rolleyes:

Bailey's trainer said they do this to put their scent on the food. She said the food smell may be to strong and they want to cover it with thier scent?!
Bailey was doing this with a Solid Gold sample and I was laughing so hard, I had never seen her do that before.

It sure is funny to watch them do it. Penny does it so methodically and she will do it over and over again. I just thought she was crazy :D

Brooklyn does something kinda similar. He'll "bury" pieces of food and esp. bones under blankets and behind/between pillows. It's funny seeming him doing it.

MY Daisy does tis outside too. She even remebers where she buries the stuff and goes get it a day or two later and her noise is covered with dirt. But now she is stumped everything is covered with snow.It is her first snow

Toto does that! I put a papertowel under her little food stand because she picks out certain things that she doesn't care for and cleanup is easier if she puts it on the towel. :) Most of the time, before she eats, she tries to cover her bowl by covering it with the towel! We have tried and tried to figure out why she does it .... Patrick says she is saying her own little "Grace" over her food! :p Do you think she's trying to hide it?

thanks :) That was taken on Christmas over my parents' house. The boxer, Vito, is my brother's dog. He's such a lovable dog. There are more pics of him on my website in the photo gallery :p

Candi doesit too, Tori throws her food in the air and plays soccer with each piece before she eats it and Lexi just likes to eat..

That is sooo funny. I at first thought that Reesie was the only dog that did this, but when we got Abbie she started doing the very same thing. I think it's very cute.
