The Ella Fund I have spoke with Aubrey on the phone and she has suggested that we use the left over funds to start a "memorial fund" We can open a new paypal account and the money can be transfered over to that account. We can use it in case god forbid someone loses a furbaby. This way the money will be in there and we dont have to take all the time to PM everyone. Since so many donated, I need to know what your opinion is on this. I started a poll to ask for suggestions, so if you want to do the poll that would be great. I dont want to be the only one to have access to this money, I dont mind doing all the foot work, but we need to have a couple other people to also handle this, that way I'm covered. Thanks again, Missy |
Well, I think that is a great idea:thumbup: Could it also be used to help those who are in need of help with high vet bills. Like members that everyone *knows* so there's no monkey business? I'd like to help if you want, but I haven't been here all that long. So if some longer-standing members volunteer, then that's all good. Just let me know:animal-pa I think this place is really really special! |
I think it would be a great idea to start a new paypal account and have that be The Ella Fund. |
i think that is a WONDERFUL idea... i missed out on the donating but it is such a great idea. this is definitly a place where people come for support, and when you follow a family as close as many of us followed Aubrey and Will and Ella.. you feel liike you want to do something. however, i'm not sure the vet bill thing is a good idea... we would have to become picky/choosey and i really dont't think anyone wants to do that. i think it should only be for those fur babies that have passed away, that way we can buy flowers and whatever, and it isnt' a cash donation, but a way of letting the family know we are sharing in their grief. GREAT idea Missy. |
I missed out to and I think it's a great idea |

i think the idea is great.. however if it is in Ella's memory... i really feel it shoudl be for people who have lost a pet... i just think the vet bills would empty the account so fast!!! but i think it would be great to hear what others think about it |
I think it would just be easier to use the money to buy flowers and a plaque. That way someone doesn't get pissy about the amount donated to their vet. that might get ugly. |
Aubrey did not want to take the left over money, she oppted to use the money for a "memorial fund" so far it looks like thats what were going to do. |

I think the Ella memorial fund is a smashing idea:thumbup: |
How sweet are they Aub & Will I love the idea of the Ella memorial fund. |
It would be a GREAT thing if we could find a "standard" memorial gift or a rotation of gifts at a set price to send when one suffers a puppy death in their family. It would be ever BETTER if we could use our talented YT members to create such a memorial. What more fitting tribute could there be than to have a memorial made with love by one of your YT family members. It could be a simple painting, a flower arrangement, a plaque, etc., we have people who do all of those things. That way the greiving parents would receive a memorial, everyone would be treated "fairly" and it would help out one or more of our valued YT members. I like to keep my money in the family :) The steering committee could request pictures and make selections of the memorials. It would take some effort to set up, but once it was up and going then it would work soothly. |

i think its a really good idea, as most of you read about a person on here asking for money which tured out to be dodgy, maybe in furture the vet office could be checked out b4 money is given? im thinking maybe some horrilbe people might of set up a fake website saying it was a vets office, with a fake number so when you call they say they are a vets office. so if someone asks for money and someone lives in the area they can comfirm that it is a REAL VETS b4 money is given. what a sad world we live in when people lie about a sick pet to make money, they wouldnt do it if they had ever loved a furbaby and watched it suffer. |
I know when I lost Maggie I had the HARDEST time finding an ern for her, and before that I buried my last girl and bought a plaque for her and hug it on her tree in my yard. So I think those would be very touching gifts! Depending on what their owners decide to do with their remains, I know that I plan to keep my babies close to me, and urns run about as much as a delivery of flowers and I know that when I finally got Maggies and got her out of that pine box, I was soooo happy! It's a gift that really can keep on giving! Just a thought! I would donate FOR SURE to the fund! Any thing I can, its a very good idea!!!! Who hasn't lost someone? We can all relate! And as far as vet bills go... Mark my vote for no, its just not a good idea, it will start wars over who gets what and who did what for whom. It one visit can be thousands! And this fund, I think, is for the memories of those lost and the grieving humans they left behind. At least thats how I'm reading it. *Please post the info once you've set it up! I'd love to dedicate a Blanket on my site to the FUND and Donate 25% of the Proceeds from each sale! I may not have an unlimited income myself to donate, but I can help raise money through my business! |
I love this idea too. I didn't even know people were donating for flowers annd I would have also like to have participated. I'm in to help set this up. Just PM me if I can help |
this is a great idea!! I would be able to donate when I can the amount that I can. People need support when they lose their babies and this will be a great source of that. |
*Please post the info once you've set it up! I'd love to dedicate a Blanket on my site to the FUND and Donate 25% of the Proceeds from each sale! Katherine.. what a BEAUTIFUL offer... i can't think of anything more wonderful than a blanket with you pets name on it to curl around you at night... that is so sweet.... how very very thoughtful! |
Thats a wonderful idea too! I can always do that as well! Make a special one for the family... :) |
oh i'm sorry .. i TOTALLY misread your first post... i get it now ... i didn't mean to committ you to something you didn't offer to do! so sorry |
I am so proud of Will & Aubrey for not taking the cash. It just shows their strength of character and that their concern was truly for little Ella because we all know their vet bills are probably huge. I think the memorial fund is a great idea. As someone else mentioned, trying to pay vet bills would quickly deplete the account and could also lead to hard feelings or an opportunity for someone to take advantage of the situation. |
this is a great idea!!!! |
I have spoken with admin and we have agreed that YT cannot sponsor a "memorial fund" for various reasons including the ones I mentioned above (there is another post in the poll thread). We know that your intentions are good and Aubrey, you are truly an amazing person to want to do this, as are the members that donated. You can all feel free to make donations and support each other privately in times of need. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me. Thank you, Kimberly~ |
