THINK before answering...Deep breaths - distract yourself for a few minutes - there's all sorts of things but - Easy to say ...hard to do. When someone is upset they tend to lash out ....but in most cases it just makes things worse. Try to control impulsive anger. You can BE upset without acting upset. |

to relax, i sleep LOL i put on a nice movie, put on my pjs, grab morgan and snuggle on the couch with lots of blankets until i fall asleep. if really stressed i watch cartoons, spongebob is a favorite LOL my mom yells at me to turn off the cartoons because i'm 24, but sometimes they are good to wind down to. |
Buy a yoga DVD. I have one called "Yoga Shakti" with Shiva Rea. It has a variety of different sequences to choose from so you can create your own workout. There are also pre-set workouts for beginners and for more advanced workouts. I'm not extremely flexible because of my back problems so I usually do the basic workout. |
walk up and smack the person who is stressing you out lol (JUST KIDDING) take a nice bubble bath put on some soothing music you like have you favorite snack, candy etc. |

Deep abdominal breathing is the BEST stress reliever. Take a deep breath in and while you are doing that, push your belly out so rather than raising your chest when you breathe in, push out your abdomen. Then let out the breath slowly through your slightly open mouth (push your breath out through slightly pursed lips). This will defuse angry stressful thoughts. Close your eyes and take several slow deep breaths. Also, try progressive relaxation. Lie down in a quiet room. Start at the top or bottom, e.g., top, scrunch up your face and hold for 3 seconds, then relax. Repeat. Bring your shoulders up to your ears and hold it, then relax. Repeat. Do this from the top of your body to your toes - tensing each muscle group then relaxing. Stay perfectly still after you go through the whole exercise. It is very relaxing. Good luck! |

The best technique I can pass on is one that costs nothing. Change your thinking. It is not the stress that makes us feel the way or act the way we do -- it is how we think about the stress. For instance, two people stuck in a traffic jam. One lets it overwhelm them, they get angry, bang on their car, cuss, and let their blood pressure rise. The other, says, hmmmm... I am stuck in this traffic jam, but it does not control me. I can listen to music, run over tonight's menu in my mind, etc. Maybe this traffic jam is causing me to miss a horrible accident that could have been just down the road. I will get where I need to be eventually and it is not the end of the world. Take whatever is stressing you and change the way you think about it. It does not have to control you. Get rid of the "stinkin' thinkin' and get a positive mental attitude. It is not about stress reduction -- it is about stress management! |

Our self-concept affects how we see ourselves, how we see others, and how we think about situations. You probably don't want me to get started....... ;) |

meditate in a nice quiet enviroment, you can use some relaxing music. Take a long hot bubble bath with candles and soft music. take a long walk with your husband hand in hand and talk about all your stress and feelings, he should listen. snuggle up to a good book and fall asleep and take a long nap. It is very important to make time for yourself. Everyone who has a family, works etc. needs to unwind. Find time for yourself it's important. Better yet find time for you and your hubby away from the kids and house. It doesn't have to cost $. Just make time for yourselves . My time away has always been a hot bubble bath and candles. Everynite for years. Only recently have I added a glass of wine!;) Carol & Buddy:aimeeyork |
