Revenge of the moose 4 Attachment(s) Just when I thought Eddie had overcome his fear of moose, they returned. Not only to the park but to our neighborhood! Here are some pics and vids taken this morning. Eddie's hiding under the bed and won't come out! http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?use...9&ctime=132428 |
wow..that is amazing to see. my biggest fear is squirrls |
Very Cool to see Moose at the park! Poor Eddie, I certainly do not blame him he knows his limits... Thanks for sharing |
Mike, those are incredible videos! Maybe this is a dumb question, but are the moose aggressive? We have white tail deer that visit daily, but I cann't imagine a 1,000 lb. critter! They don't seem to have much fear of humans..... |
Poor Eddie! He's been tramatized or mooseitized! Jack is cute as a button just staring at you with those big brown eyes full of anticipation for attention. He finally get you to himself and you are moose stalking! Ok, so here's a really stupid question from a city gal... The moose looks harmless, ok so they are HUGE and can basically hop over a 4-foot fence but it's not like they have fangs & claws.. I saw on your other post that they have killed a man... How do they attack and how does a tree help? Oh and do they shed the antlers in the winter? - Just wondering since you couldn't tell if the one in your neighbor's yard was a male or female... |

Oh poor Eddie, they do look pretty intimidating. |

Corinne, moose can weigh up to 1,500 pounds. They defend themselves by rearing up on their hind legs and launching their front legs forward. I saw a video on youtube where a moose and its calf stomped on a guy by just walking on him. As for antlers, yes, they shed them every year. A lesson in ungulates: Anything with horns keeps them for life. Anything with antlers sheds them yearly. |

do the moose ever dent any cars? I hit a deer once in upstate NY (was on the way home from Vt.) and wow, it ruined the whole front of the car and busted the radiator as well .... poor Bambi! Poor me ... had to get it fixed up yonder and drive 2 hours home with a car that looked like a bear took a bite out of it ... |

Mike...I think you need to get Eddie a gun...a big gun!! |
OMG THAT WAS THE funniest video and what pictures  ....Jack is SO CUTE in all his snowgear bless his heart....and Eddie - do you need a little vacation in Texas with your Auntie V ???? I promise you NO BIG SCARY MOOSES !!! Only squirrels and you can chase them all day with the Spy Girls....you can go back home to daddy when those moose go back to THEIR home .... The video rocked Mike !! I loved the narration so where DO moose hangout when they aren't terrorizing little yorkie boys ?? |

itz a horror show Quote:
... It seems once you mention such an accident .... Everyone has a story .... Yes, I was lucky ... it was a doe I hit ... (no antlers?) and I had to go back with the Highway Patrol to find the deer to make sure I did not hit a person ... This was back in 1982 I think.... So no cell phone... My parents were staying in Bennington, VT so someone from the hotel came to pick me up (2 hours) and bring the car to a service station and I stayed at the hotel until the car was fixed .... Not something I want to relive .... but your moose looks so frightening. The video was hysterical, watching him jump the fence ... a curb seems monumental to our babies ... (how tall are those moose?) (meese?) |

Poor Eddie!!!! Professor Moose Man, time to go back to your behavioral training!!! |
Good video footage Mike.....no wonder Eddie is hiding under the bed!! Poor boy! |
We live in an area of Mass where you would never expect to see wild animals....never mind a moose! Well, since man has taken away their homes these poor animals don't know where to go...I have had a silver fox, 22 deer and an opossum in my back yard...not to mention coyotes running up the road with a bunny in it's mouth.. About a month ago we had a baby moose (they estimated weight at 500#) get hit on the highway...a SUV with 2 young girls (one is pregnant) hit it...they never even saw it...they looked up and it was there...they knocked it down but, the 18 wheeler that was behind them going 70 MPH hit it dead on...well, I don't need to go into graphic details to tell you what it looked like...it was horrible! Hubby and I came up on this after it happened...needless to say it wasn't a pretty site...couldn't even tell what had been hit.. Moose can cause ALOT of damage to vehicles...not to mention most people don't survive an accident like this...I am always afraid one will run out in front of me...we have had alot of sitings around here and we are considered a city.... |
