So what are you having for Christmas Dinner? Just wondering what you are having for Christmas Eve Dinner? :) |
we go to myinlaws were having...chili, tater soup and hot turkey sandwiches. I am making ham and all the trimmings on Christmas Day! |
I usually cook a huge dinner on Xmas eve and then from then on we eat leftovers and go to other folks houses the following day if we feel up to it: My menu Ham (pineapple/molasses glazed) Baked old fashioned Macaroni and Cheese Corn Bread Biscuits Baked Chicken (family is not a big turkey eater) Mashed Potatos Lasagna or Manicotti w/ meat Scalloped Potatos Potato salad Those are usually the base things and then whatever else my kids and younger sisters decided that they want to eat. |
Mexican style ham, green spaguetti, a green salad, mashed potatoes, green salsa and red salsa, sausage in chipotle sauce and my in laws are bringing dessert. Tha should be plenty for the four of us. |
This year, we are having a more traditional meal - ham, dressing, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, etc. Pies: coconut cream, chocolate, apple, etc. Last year, we did cornish hens and the year before that we did steaks....we always try to do something alittle different each year. |
we used to have tamales.. but my mom is super sick this year and I am not sure I can pull that off...lol.. so I am looking for ideas.. |

Chicken Tamales here also! We tried making them once....LOL....never again. There's a nice lady that sells them this time of year and it's well worth paying her to make them! |
We are having 18 for dinner. I'm thinking of throwing a few cans of Chicken Noodle soup on the table, and calling it a dinner. Ok, I might use a bowl.......... |

Alright, I read enough "chicken tamales" postings that I am going to wangle a way to go to LaHacienda tonight for dinner! It is still breakfast time and I am am daydreaming about quesadillas and cheese sauce! My favorite foods! Last year for Christmas eve my sister made the BEST chicken enchiladas ever! They are her specialty -- hope she does them again this year. I have not mastered these foods and I think it is because I know if I do, I will overeat them! |
We are going out of town tomorrow and wont be back untill Chrismas eve afternoon. Then we are going to My Mother in Laws Christmas Day. I am just throwing a quick ham together, mashed potatoes, brocolli and cheese, and pie. I am so excited and cant waiit untill we open presents. We got My Son thats in college a laptop and he is going to be so surprised. We also found alot of great things for for my 6 yr old Daughter this year. She will be surprised too |
We're having a pork loin roast, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, gravy, macaroni bake, stuffed mushrooms and eclair cake! Since it's just the three of us for dinner, it will be small and nothing fancy.:) |
