WIC is a great program. You can get it while your pregnant for yourself & then for your child til they are 5. Word to the wise. At first it seems like you will never use all the formula. I remeber giving extra cans I had away every month. Keep them the bigger they get the more they eat & you will eventually need them. I probably wouldnt have had to buy any formula if I would have saved the extra. I used the powder it is easier & you can make it as needed so it doesnt spoil. Walmart or sams is great for diapers. I always used huggies cloth like diapers. Huggies also has a club on there website & they send you coupons & have info on there. Well Congratulations. I like the names Emily Jane or Emma Jean. |
Don't forget garage sales. I had the best dressed babies around. Up to 2 years old you can find the best baby clothes hardly used, and lots of time with tags still on for little to nothing. Mine were dressed in Carters, OshGosh, TCP, etc.... and it cost me pennies on the dollar. You will find even more looking for girl clothes. I think people just naturally buy more for their girls and they outgrow them before they get used. I also found many of the accessories like walkers, stroller, high chair etc... Neighborhood sales in the nicer subdivisions this coming spring will be your best bet. We have them year round down here, but I remember up north the spring is best. Might also look on freecycle for your town. I breast fed, so I would say for the first year, my biggest expenses were those dang disposable diapers. I tried the cloth ones but no matter what wound up with diaper rash. Finally used them for burp cloths and got disposable. They are worth it. |
FlDebra! YOU'RE RIGHT! I do think that many people over purchase some of those "gotta have" cute items for their baby girls and they never get to use or wear them and they sit at garage sales for cheap. I think the timing couldn't be better in regards to her arriving right before spring really hits. There are TONS of garage sales around here and nothing but upper/middle class subdivisions abound. Thanks for the ideas!!! I hope to breast feed if my body is capable of doing so. So....on a personal note....how long did you breast feed and did you loose your, umm "figure" dramatically after feeding one child?? If you don't want to answer that, I fully understand! It's just the stupidest things I worry about. And to be honest, I worry more about her just surviving and being born than anything. |
Everyone here shops and sells to "childrens orchard" it's a great consignment store, but it's usually moms who are running out of room for clothes for their growing baby and just sell it all tot hat store. most things are new and still have the tags!!! They also have other things that you might need. People shop there that don't even have money problems because they have quite a few cute things. My parenting teacher and a lady I babysit for were telling me about hwo great breastfeeding was because you lost a lot of weight, they said that it didn't affect their breasts as badly as they thought it would. (is it weird that I've actually discussed this with them ha ha). Please post lots about updates with your baby! I love hearing about babies and such btw, you might've heard of http://4womentalk.com it's a great place to talk about all of these things lol! Kayla Anne sounds pretty, and Lindsey Anne, I LOVE names and to look up their meanings and such ha ha ha, I'm strange like that. I've had a certain name I love picked out for YEARS but a tip, Emily is EXTREMELY common now, my aunt put the twist and made it "amelie" which is beautiful, I suggest not using the name Emily. (even though I lvoe that name ha ha) |
You can find alot of nice clothes by shopping at the discount stores too. I still shop at Target and Kmart. They have cute clothes for kids for less. I find my 6 yr old daughter some of the cutest clothes there |
