Knock, Knock!! HEY GUYS!!!! :D Look who's back!!!! :p WHEW....it seems like it's been AGES!!!! First of all let me start out by saying THANK YOU TIMES A MILLION for everyones positive thoughts and well wishes!!!! You all don't know HOW much they meant to me!! Jeff (my hubby) read me everyone's super sweet posts and I was literally just blown away....everyone has been SO CARING!!! And I appreciate it very, very much...more than you will ever know!!! Also, thank you to each and every single person who sent me PM's - they lifted my spirits and put a BIG smile on my face! I am still supposed to be on strict bed rest until Wednesday, but I snuck out to grab the laptop and update you all ;) As most of you probably know (I THINK) Jeff included it in one of the posts he made....I did end up having the major surgery in my right eye, and laser surgery on my left. I had no idea that BOTH eyes were bad!! THAT was a shock!!! The Retina actually became detached in my RIGHT eye, NOT my left...but both eyes had many, many "holes" in them, so the surgeon told us. There were 3 surgeons that worked on me, and they did a FABULOUS job!! The surgery took 4 hours (UGH!) but all went well. They told me that the recovery time however, could be up to 3 months. That just means 3 months of being on about 7 or 8 different meds, no driving, etc. but I will be able to sit up and walk around like normal....HOPEFULLY. I have already been back to Houston once since my surgery (I went in last Tuesday so that my doctor could check my eyes) and I will have to go next Thursday as well. And then back again on Jan. 25th and I'm not sure yet how many more times after that. It is a very LONG process, and they really want to keep a close eye on my left eye to make sure that the laser holds and that the Retina in that eye doesn't become detached as well. For the time being (and probably for quite a while) I won't be able to wear contacts, so my vision still isn't all that great. My hubby did go and get me a pair of new glasses, however, my vision is still changing since the surgery so the lenses in the glasses aren't my exact prescription. They said that they won't be able to tell what my exact prescription will be for about 3 months since my vision is still constantly changing. Anyhow, the whole process of all of this has been VERY tiring/exhausting. Everything that you have to go through BEFORE the surgery is 100 times worse than the actual surgery itself. It was almost 10 straight hours of testing, SUPER BRIGHT lights, pictures, "MRI's" of the eyes, needles, etc., etc., etc. VERY, VERY physically (AND mentally) exhausting :( I pretty much did nothing but SLEEP 24/7 for about a week afterword. I'm SO glad it's over and I hope and pray that when I go back next Thursday everything still looks good and that another surgery isn't needed. Also, I was told that when I go back on Jan. 25th there will be more pictures and testing done - which I am NOT looking forward to. It just physically wears you ragged. Not to mention they have to shoot dye up into your arm before they do the MRI's and pictures of the eyes, and OH MY GOODNESS does that HURT!!! You guys, I have never cried in a doctors office, and I am by NO means afraid of shots/needles - but I swear to you I have NEVER in my ENTIRE LIFE felt something SO painful!!!!!!!!!! I was SCREAMING. I asked the nurse what in the HELL she shot up into my arm, because it LITERALLY felt like my arm was going to blow up and explode into a million and one pieces....that is when she told me that it was dye, and that one or more of my blood vessels must have busted and the dye shot through and got into my tissue in my arm - OMG!!!!!! I swear I thought I was going to die right there in that chair. I would literally MUCH rather want to have surgery 100,000,000 times than to have to go through that again. My arm hurt for DAYS. OMGOMGOMG that was THE WORST!!!!! She told me that the reason they use the dye is so that it will shoot up behind my eyes and "light up" the holes so that they show up in the pictures. And I have a VERY high tolerance for pain but OH MY GOD.....I can't EVEN explain what that felt like. I CRINGE just thinking about it now.. Anyway, I am sorry for rambling on! I just wanted to stop in and update you guys and let everyone know how it was going. Oh and also of course that little Steddy is doing well!! :p He is just fine and dandy - laying here right beside me playing with his Quackers  He still doesn't really understand why I haven't been able to play with him like I normally do - but he is enjoying just relaxing here with mom :) So far (unless they tell me otherwise when I go back to the doctor next Thursday) I can actually start "moving around" on Wednesday, so the hubby and I are going to get a Christmas tree and I have NO idea WHAT Stedman is going to do with it, LOL. I am a little nervous!!! I can just see him standing there looking at it and yanking at one of the branches and the WHOLE thing falling over - OMG. lol. I am hoping and praying that the little guy doesn't even mess with it but I don't know  Anyhow thank you all again SO very much for your well wishes, and your thoughts and Prayers. I don't know WHAT I would have done without them!!!! :ghug: LOTS and LOTS of hugs sent out to EVERYONE from The Stedster and I!! :D |
Hey I'm glad you seem to be feeling much better. NOW GET BACK TO BED!!! :p |

Isn't my hubby a sweetie? :) He has been GREAT. Actually, "great" doesn't even describe it. He has taken such WONDERFUL care of me. I am amazed at how well he was able to keep it together. I'm surprised he doesn't have a head full of gray hairs by now :p LOL I have been running him ragged! I don't think the poor guy has even sat down in the last 2 weeks :( I have really got to think of something I can do extra special for him to thank him - he has been the best!!!!! |

I'm glad you're back!! Codie, Tia, Cali and I missed you! I'm so sorry you were in so much pain -- that's awful. But thank god the surgery was successful and now you're on the road to recovery. :p |
Great to hear your back. I'm so happy for you, it sounds like your off to a speedy recovery. :) I'm glad Stedman is enjoying the quality time with his Mommy.:aimeeyork |
I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. It sounds dreadful to say the least. I hope and pray you won't have to have any more surgery. Take care and know that we miss you. |
Yay!! Yippee!! We are so glad you are back! Well, even though you shouldn't be! HA! I am sure Stedman was glad to see you up out of that bed!!! I bet he wanted to play w/ you something fierce!!! |
Oh! I'm so glad you're back and feeling better! :yay_jump: And on a selfish note...I need my fix of Steddy pics! LOL I think I'm in withdrawal... |
So glad you're feeling better. Continue to rest and get well. Sorry to hear that all of the testing was such an ordeal. I had to have dye when I had my most recent MRI done but I HATE needles so I warned the technician and it wasn't as bad as I though. Hope you don't have to have that done again any time soon :( . Now you can focus on getting well and keeping Stedman away from that tree :D . |
Nice to hear you feeling better, take all the needed rest, so you can recover fast, and get back on here with all those precious pics of Stedman :) :) Hugs to the little one, and best wishes to you!! |
Welcome back!!!! Glad to hear that everything went well and you're on the road to recovery now. I was just thinking about you today and then saw some other posts from you. :ghug: I've sure missed seeing pics of cute little Steddy. He can come for a visit with me and Jaxon if momma needs some extra rest. ;) |
Glad all went well with your surgery and glad to see you back here! Your fun and entertaining posts were certainly missed by ALL :) |
ohhhh no. I had no idea you were getting surgery... Here i was feening for the steddy http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60615 Hope you are doing well, and I bet Stedman is going to take super good care of you with all that puppy love :D :D by the way, I printed photos of stedman to take with me to the groomers on friday to make wookie's hair cute like his :D ok ok, so i'm a little in love with Stedman, can you tell :heart to :heart to   :2hearts2: :2hearts2: :hearts-xx |
I am so glad you are back and that surgeries went well! On the other hand, I am so sorry for the pain you endured. Make sure you don't bend at the waist or make sudden fast movements. Try not to blow your nose either. I too have heard and seen patients scream with the dye injection. I pray you NEVER have to go through that again. Hugs, Jess |

She said that if your blood vessels didn't burst and the dye didn't shoot up into the tissue in your arm, then it didn't hurt - but OF COURSE my blood vessels burst and the dye shot up into my tissue - thats just the kind of luck I have!!! :(  I swear I would have rather been SHOT!!!!!!!!!! |
I'm so GLAD you are back!!! We all missed you! Sorry you had to go through so much pain......please get well soon!!! Remember we are always here for you! |
