Oh Jodi, I know you're trying your best -- some things are just out of your control. :( But my biggest worry is what will Kat do when if she doesn't make it in time. Where will she stay overnight? She doesn't know the area that well. Plus, it just seems so unfair for her to have to pay for a hotel in addition to the gas money and the adoption fee. I feel so bad for her right now. Not to mention she's all stressed out and worried about poor Charlie. :( :(

I called the shelter and left a voicemail for Jennifer. I said come one she's on her way, I'd rather she not kill herself trying to get there and the point of a shelter is to put them in a home. Since she's coming from 7 hours away and you know she's coming, isn't there anything you can do to help. She's not familiar with the area, she'll have to find a place to stay. blah blah blah (i was totally syrupy nice too)

I haven't heard back from them yet.

I wonder why some shelter in one hand say please adopt but with the people that sincerely wants to adopt, they impose so many rules and in the end, innocent dogs are put to sleep. Can't they bend a little bit of rule here for someone who drives all the way there for 7 hours?

Okay...so I cross-posted this about 2 hours ago onto the site I am an administrator for which happens to be another pet site (Chins-n-Quills.com) because I KNOW we have a HUGE amount of California members. Within minutes, I had a volunteer who is also a staff member of the forum, to go pick up Charlie and hold him until Kathryn could get there to pick him up. They talked and arranged it.

I just received a call from the volunteer from Chins-n-Quills that the shelter has a staff member that apparently feels so guilty or bad for Charlie and Kathryn that they are going to take Charlie home with them and Kathryn will be meeting up with them when she gets into town. So the original volunteer has turned around to go back home and hopefully Kathryn and Charlie will be reunited soon!!!!

Oh, that is a great ending!!!! So glad things worked out!

Kathryn called me right after I got gas and was about to hop on the freeway to let me know that the a worker at the shelter was going to take Charlie home with her until she can get there. It's against the shelter regulations, but she just felt really bad about the whole situation. She called me to let me know that I didn't need to drive all the way down there. So I'm back home now. But I'm glad to hear that everything worked out well and that Charlie's going to be reunited with his family!

My son had a basketball game tonight and the first thing I did when I got home was look in to check on Kathryn and Charlie -- so glad to hear it is working out. It is wonderful to see so much care and concern! Hope they have a safe trip.

Any news yet? Are they home safe and sound??

I would expect that it'll be in the WEEE hours of the morning when they get back home....IF she decides to turn around and come all the way back tonight. That's considering it's a 7 hour drive to where she was going and she left at 11 this morning...

First off, Jen.... You were a Rock! Jen spent the entire day on the phone with me! She tried so hard to help me find someone to help me out! and all of this from New York! And lets not even Mention her being an amazing Friend who calmed my nerves and kept telling me that everything was going to work out and that somehow it was going to work. Jen... Your awesome!

alpayton.... I can't believe that in Five minutes you did what I could not do over hours of phone calls and posting... A simple post on the Chins & Quills Board and you had help on the way! I cant even begin to tell you how much that means to me! Thank you for reaching out for me! Thank you for taking the time to care and sharing my story with a bunch of small animal lovers and finding me a woman who was willing to drive over an hour each way to help out a stranger! I am just so touched and impressed.. Please make certian you get me her information!!!!!! As well as yours!!!

And lastly Thank You's to all of the YT members who called the Pound in Stockton for me..... Jennifer told me she had spent the last hour listening to voicemail when I called at 400pm, but never told me who the calls were from, and it was then that she told me that she would take Charlie home with her for me! Saving the Chin & Quill Girl, Heidi, The 2+ hours of driving! and the hour wait on us! She was so wonderful! And I truly think that it was your prayers and phonecalls that softened this gal up and caused her to bend this rule for me! So thank you all who helped me out!

Charlie is sleeping soundly and I am soooooooooo Happy to have him home! They bathed him for me... but I'll be bathing him again tomorrow,,, Plush Puppy style;) and applying his advantix... and on monday he will go in for a heartworm test... I am scared to death that he was not kept on his interceptor.... :confused: And his Perfect teeth 14 months ago look like sh*t now... so its Petzlife for him starting Tomorrow!

Its good to have him back!!! I'll post pictures tomorrow!!!!!

And yes.... he loves the girls!!! And loves their toys even more!!!!! And the girls love.... to bark at..... him! lol Pixie loves him and just wants to be in his crate with him.... Paris just wants him to stay away from her mom... but give it a couple of days... they'll be fine!!!!
