My first was all natural, second time around I had an epidural, I went from a ill lady to having a good time, no pain and i could watch the monitor and I would say oh that's a big one! Trust me take the shot, you wont feel it they give it to you in a contraction. No pain is best! |
This is something at this point that I dont even want to think about.. I'm scared to death of pain! My BF says I'm the wrong one to get pregnant. I hate needles of any sort.... I even hate to have my blood taken..lol... I had to give it the other day at the doctors and about passed out from it. If I was going to choose I will have the epidoral. |
Its been 7 years for me but I can still remember it like yesterday I went 48 hours with no pain meds then I finally got to the point where I could get the epidural and it was well worth it, the pain was so bad I guess thats why its been 7 years and no other kids :) |

[QUOTE=JeanieK]The adrenaline rush that blocks the pain. I believe that people get the epidural cause they have no idea that adrenaline will block the pain naturally.QUOTE] I had three with no pain killers and my adrenaline rush must kick in too late to stave off the pain. Because there was a LOT of pain. Well worth it, but still a lot of pain. After each, I would shake like a leaf for a good hour in recovery, and giggle like a kid. Couldn't stop, just hyped up and SO HAPPY. But the memory of the pain is still firmly etched in the memory banks. I actually got a little mad (okay, furious is more like it) with the third one when they finally said it was too late for the epidural, that I had been begging for two hours. |
yes get it i was scared to death about it personally the hype of my freaking out i think would have made it worse thing is i didn't feel anything at all! i don't know if who did it was extra good at it or what?!! i had a csections my baby was breech and 9lb 3oz! |
I'd go for the drugs. When I had mine, there weren't that many options but I can tell you it hurt like heck and if I had to do it over again, I'd take anything they offered that wouldn't hurt the baby. My son was over 9# and his head came out squashed like a flattened volleyball. All I could think was "No wonder it hurt so bad". I walked the floor that night waiting for his head to shape up. Thank goodness it did! I see no need for pain if you can avoid it. |
Get an epidural definitely:thumbup: |
I had three with NO drugs. My first son was born at 32 weeks and by the time I convinced my Ob that I was indeed having a baby, like NOW, it was way too late. He gave me a "Y" episiomoty so they could ease him out with forceps -- I can feel the knife slicing me to this day :(.... but as the Dr. Ray explained to me.... anything they give ME goes to the babe and I didn't want my little bitties to be born with drugs in their system. The other two were much easier, NO DRUGS FOR ME OR MY KIDS :) |
My first one was a C-section with a "Spinal." Yeap! But at least I was awake to see her born. She was 2 weeks late and 9.10# ooch! My second was a VBAC (vaginal birth after a C-section) Back in the 80,s a VBAC was so new they did not want to give you anything in case of a rip you needed to tell them if something was wrong. Luckily he was born okay and no problems, except I was stuck at 8 cm for 2 hours - he was facing the wrong way. They tried everything - pushing and poking and rotating and up on knees in my bed so tummy had more room. Finally they told me to visalize him turning and just as quick as they told me to - he turned. Really weird how that works. Just focus and work with your breathing. Squat a lot! It works - helps you dilate more. I had not even an asprin with my son's birth and he weighed 8.7. It was a much better birth experience and I was ready to go home after. It was like nothing had ever happened after he was out. I think it was due to not having anything. We had champagne and celebrated in the recovery room! T. |
I have done it natural and with the epidural. I found it much more enjoyable when my focus was bringing the baby into the world instead of all the pain. So my vote is yes to getting an epidural. Congrats on your baby. |
I had two children..... TAKE THE DRUGS!!!!!!!!! |
I have 2.My first girl i had at 17 and i was in labor for 12 hrs!I had an epidural with her as soon as i could.I was still in pain but not as bad.She was 7pounds 13oz.Now with my son i went into labor at 4am stayed home till about 4:45am got to the hospital at 5:15am and had him at 5:30am,he weighed 9 pounds even.Of course i had no time for any med's.Im just thankful i had hime in the hospital and not in the drive way! |
Omg Take any and every drug they will give you! :D Seriously when I had my daughter I had been in labor for 5 hours before they gave me demeriol...that wore off really fast.:( I asked for more and they told me NO:mad: ...I wanted to cry, scream beat the s*&%%T out of someone. Finally after hours they gave me the epidural. Yhea!:p I was soooo scared of having a needle in my back...They did it when I was having a contraction and I never felt a thing!! It was so worth it and nothing to be scared of.... It was smooth sailing after that!:) |
I have an epidural NIGHTMARE!!! My water broke at 3:14 in the afternoon. I arrived at the hospital at about 4:00 and I was not in pain. I was told that I was having contractions but I wasn't feeling them at all. At about 8:00 that night I started to really hurt. I had dialated to about 4-5cm and it was time for my long awaited epidural. After the anesthesiologist stuck the needle in my back in 5 (yes 5) different spots he told me that he was having a hard time because "I have SKINNY Bones". I am thinking to myself. WHY ME? He finally got the epidural in place and left the room. He told me that it would take no longer than 15 minutes to take. My bestfriend, who had just had her baby 1 month prior walked into the room after about 30 minutes and I was still able to move my legs and she thought that maybe it didn't take. I told my nurse that I was still feeling contractions and she called the anesthesiologist back into the room. He gave me another dosage and left the room. Through the rest of the night I endured the most horrific pain imaginable. I delivered my daughter at 9:14a.m the next morning. I had to have an episiotomy and I felt that. And I felt every stitch it took to stitch me back together. Get this....When it was time for me to get up to void (urine) I couldn't feel my legs. How insane is that. The anesthesiologist said that the baby was probably laying against a nerve that was needed to stop the pain. There is my Horror Story, just thought I'd share it! |
