I have always had a crock pot.....I have changed several times over the years....started w/ a small one, then moved to one that the pot can be removed (this is a plus for easy cleaning) and then I moved to one of those nice big ones......I might even get one of those newer double ones now! HA! I love to cook pot roast in mine..........put the roast in (beef or pork) some celery, carrots, potatoes, dry onion soup mix, salt/pepper, some water, oh and some onions....I think that is it....turn it on low in the morning and it is done (oh so tender and juicy) by dinner time....there is plenty of juice left over too for gravy....yum! I have a good beef stew recipe (too long to remember off the top of my head) that I cook in the crock pot! YUM....that is perfect for these colder days/nights! |

I use my crock pot all the time and I love it! We mostly use it for roast, ribs, whole chickens and spaghetti sauce. For pork roast I just cut slits in the roast and insert slivers of garlic then sprinkle with italian spice mix. Set it to low for 8 hours, it's perfect (and that's from fresh, not frozen). I made that tonight for dinner actually! Ribs are great drenched in bbq sauce and left to cook all day. Mmmmmm...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Basically any cut of meat you have can be thrown in that pot and will come out juicy and tender every time. |

Crock pots are very low voltage I think so it is very safe to leave unattended. I do have 2 but use them purely for boiling meat :) |
i dont have one , but i think im going to get one real soon. so if i leave it on all day long, doesnt the meat shred and everything inside get mussy????? and what if it soaks up all the water, wont it burn and then the pot burns and then their goes my house and my lexi |

I'm always paranoid about that too and therefor only cood something when I know I will be home all day....which is NEVER!:( I also don't like to leave....even for a minute with the dryer on. I will leave the washing machine and dishwasher going if they are almost finished or I'm coming right back....I can clean up a flood.;) |

In fact, the other day, I mixed up some BBQ sauce (easy to make from scratch, yes, I know, easier to buy a bottle) and put some skinless, boneless chicken breast in there...cooked it all day and when DH got home, I took a fork to the chicken and it just pulled apart sooooo easily...perfect for BBQ chicken sandwiches! YUM! I think most crockpot recipes call for the right about of liquid for the recipes because I have never had any problems w/ any of the stuff I have cooked in mine. I REALLY LOVE MINE!!! |
I like using my crockpot but I don't turn it on and leave for the day. Mine cooks faster than what is normal. One time I made chicken and veggies and left to go shopping for a few hours and when I came home 4 hours later the chicken was burned slightly--the recipe said 6-8 hours and it was done in half the time. It was really tender and still tasted good but I think I would have had a lump of charcoal in my crockpot if I returned within the 6-8 hours that the recipe recommended. |

I love my crock pot! I use receipes from . I work long hours so, its great to come home to a cooked meal. |
