Please everyone ...I really need your Prayers right now.. I had an eye appointment today because lately my contacts have really been bothering me. I know my vision has changed since the last time I went (a year ago) and so I also had an eye exam. Upon examining my eyes, my doctor found something ...and now I am scared to death. My right eye checked out ok, but when he moved over to my left eye...I noticed that he was looking at it for quite a while, and he kept asking me to "look down" over and over again. As he was looking at my eye, he kept saying, "Hmmm"...which I knew couldn't be good. So I swallowed hard, and asked him what he saw. He then told me that he found that my Retina has become detached. This scared me to death because my mom had this happen several years ago, and had to have MAJOR eye surgery (they literally had to remove her eye during surgery and put a "buckle" behind it...) the recovery time takes MONTHS. He said that this was an emergency, and that he wanted me to go to Houston right away (meaning as SOON as we left his office). However, today wasn't a good day for us, so he called The Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and talked to someone up there ....they said that I could come in Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. but NO LATER....I HAD to be there at least by Monday. So....I go in on Monday at 11:00 a.m. to most likely have major eye surgery. I am scared to death you guys. I have been crying ever since I was told the news. I have never even broken a FINGER - and now I have to have major eye surgery... He did tell me that there is a possibility that they could just do Laser surgery...but that is something that the doctor THERE will have to determine after she looks at my eye .....he didn't sound very hopefuly though. In fact, he basically told me that we should just pack our bags, because of course if they are going to do a major surgery (which I'm sure with my luck, that's what will happen..) that we will be staying in the hospital for several days. I already went through this with my mom - and it is NOT a fun thing to go through. She was in bed for MONTHS....and you can't even lay flat on your back - you have to keep your head at a certain angle - propped up on a pillow. You also have to wear a patch on your eye for the longest time...and the medicines are ENDLESS. Not to mention, if you blow your nose too hard, or sneeze too hard, your Retina can become detached again. This is all just making me a nervous wreck. And it couldn't have come at a worse time. We were supposed to be leaving next Saturday (on the 25th) to go to Palm Springs California for a week for vacation with my father in law and his wife - the plane tickets have already been booked weeks ago. Now it looks like the trip is off. Anyhow - I am sorry to ramble on. I am just so nervous and scared. I can't believe this has happened. I was NOT expecting this at all. I would GREATLY appreciate all of your Prayers at this time....I don't know what I would do without all of my friends at YT :cry8: |
Oh wow, I am sorry. That is something I know absolutely nothing about so I will pray for you. I hate that you can't take your trip, but I guess that's the least of your worries right now. Crossing my fingers for laser surgery...... |

oh good luck lots of prayers for you, and hopefully it wont be as major and something can be done that's easier. That happens sometimes when you talk to the actual surgeon!! I hope that whatever happens you have a fast and easy recovery! and you can take that vacation once your better! |
We're sending our best. Sounds like you did everything right having an annual exam, and you caught it in time. Good luck, and try not to worry about everything else. The health of your eye is all that matters right now. |
Praying for you to have a succesful surgery. |
Procedures can change drastically in a "couple" of years with most any surgery! So it may not be anything like your Mom's surgery. Will certainly keep you in my prayers, and please get someone to let us know how it goes, if your not able. |
In jesus name I pray for you heavenly peace and for god to give divine wisdom to the doctor and for you to be totally restored in jesus name. Keep us posted. |
I am so sorry that you're going through this. :( I'll keep you in my prayers. (((hug)) Please let us know how everything turns out! |

Sending hugs your way..... and praying that the doctors will be able to get you "all fixed up" and that your recovery time will be short, sweet and painless! |
oh no sweetie.....you must be terrified. Your in my thoughts and prayers! Steddman give your mommy lots of kisses from us at YT! |
Sending my prayers and hugs your way. Will look for an update. Jessica |
OMG that is so scary:eek: I'm so sorry:cry: I will pray for you and your family, and that the doctors are able to fix your eye perfectly. I'm sure the recovery isn't fun, but it's better than the alternative---losing your sight in that eye:( The number one thing I can tell you about surgical recovery (of any kind), is that a diet high in lean protein and dark green leafy vegetables will speed your healing up immensely. Drink tons of water, also. I'm a staff member of a very large support site for surgical patients and have seen the difference that diet makes in recovery. You're going to do great, so just stay positive. Hugs!!! |
