A question to think about... How many of us would (let's say), go to a pro-life forum and start threads about pro-abortion? How many of us would go to a religious site only to start threads about pagan or satan worship being good? Would you do it? I do not understand why some people would purposely start threads that they know aren't going to be welcomed with open arms. We have many threads here that get heated. Lots of times (especially lately), I just look at the title and can guess how the thread is going to end...yup...with a big padlock. So why do it? If you wouldn't go to the above 2, then why do it here? But you know what gets me the most...after people get slammed then they get upset. It's almost like start a flame thread then scream at the top of your lungs when it doesn't go your way. Maybe I'm just getting old but people that do things like this really make me wonder about them! |
i agree and im only 19 :D |
The only thread that comes to mind for me is the election thread. Are you referring to any others specifically? |
I don't think people intentionally set out to start a flame fest. I think they have good intentions with a genuine question that just happens to go south when one person takes offense and doesn't agree. To me it seems it's not the original poster that's in the dispute but that the disputes arise from others who have responded to someone's post. I could easily see this post going south too depending on how its taken and interpreted. |
Kim....I don't know what thread you are talking about? I agree with what you are saying but....I am a little confused....maybe I missed it? |

yes i would like to say i did NOT intend the election thread to go the way it did. It actually went ok i thought but it got closed.....there is some threads however that make you scratch your head thinking "why in the world"..lol:) |

I totally agree But.... some I feel are trying to ask honest Questions and word them wrong or are not Educated on the subject, Or People read them wrong. Like......../Say I am a first time owner of a dog and Oops she gets PG I am scared. I come here and ask a Question And every one jumps on me. There are alot of people who Don't word things right Like the T-Cup thing but maybe they don't know there is none. I try to stay away from those Heated threads. I feel if I can't put in a nice post then I'll leave it to others who can and If there is a Bated post If no one answers then It will just go away. :) |

I understand where you are coming from Kimberley. I've actually seen these ignored, the poster get upset because they didn't get answers, and then cry victim when they do. Funny, I see certain people give answers, and it's OK. I see other people give the same answers and get flamed for responding. It was "not nice" or "off topic" or just wrong. :( Funny how things work. I'm trying very hard to ignore things more and not let it get to me so badly....not saying I'm always succeeding, but at least I'm trying.;) Try not to let it get to you that much. I have found that most of the people that get upset with the answers don't stay around long anyway....they get their quick answer, or sell their underage pups and leave.:p |

Kimberly, You make a good point, however there are people who do the above. some people just like to start trouble. they are miserable people who enjoy making other people miserable. |

As a dawg breeder, I can assure you that I know you can stir a little bit of poop to make a big stink. The only thread that I have seen lately that may have been bait was about "why Yorkie people are mean?". But I thought folks responded nicely to it.:p Teri:animal-pa |

Oops sorry, I hope that wasn't too mean.:Lol...kidding, kidding. |
I'm not trying to start trouble, really I'm not but I really don't understand why everyone gets so upset about the "teacup" word. I know there isn't any size classification for Yorkies and I certainly don't advocate breeding any female less than 5 lbs. but why do we care if someone calls our baby a teacup? People ask me all the time if Little Bit is a teacup or toy Yorkie. If I'm feeling talkative, I very politely tell them that all Yorkies are considered toys and there isn't a teacup classification but if I'm not, I just say (still nicely) that I don't think she is going to be very big. At 3#, I've never seen a teacup she could fit in or even a soup mug, but the term doesn't offend me. JMO:) |
I haven't seen that many just political ones to be honest it actually hurts my feelings that people start those threads even if it's bashing someone I don't like I don't even read it, especially don't say anything. I already live in California where my family are the only republicans lol I think some people start threads that they think won't be controversial I don't think it's planned always but I just wish people would think before they do, in ALL aspects of life. ALSO, TONE is not displayed in typing, this causes jumpiness. People feel they can say whatever because they don't "really" know people on yorkie talk. but if someone is meaning something in a certain way, it can be read in a COMPLETELY different way. SO we all have to try to be more UNDERSTANDING |
huh? i don't get it but no i wouldn't go to other forums like that and post something like that. |
so true Kim...some people thrive on controversay like it is a drug. Do you remember Yorkies Direct? It was so big and we all left in one day..it totally shut down when we found out it was a site for puppymillers. Sometimes forum owners ignore the wants of the members and it all goes "poof"....why allow it in the first place? |
Kimberly - great post, IMO. There are some people out there who have nothing better to do with their day than surf different forums, looking for a post they can "jump on". I do believe that there are members here that post legitimate questions wanting to be more educated on the the breed we all love and adore but inevitably, someone will jump in and give their 2 cents which basically starts a controversy. To me, there's a right way and a wrong way to word things and when they are worded wrong, I believe it was done intentionally just to provoke others who have their own strong feelings that "fly the opposite" of what they posted. It's like they can't be happy unless they are making someone else miserable. Personally, I do try to stay away from those posts that head the way of the toilet unless I feel I can make a post that won't offend but if my post offends, then to me, the person was looking to be offended to start even more trash talk. Does YT have that many posts that end up with fighting/bashing/etc.? No, I don't think so but they are there nonetheless. As I said, these thoughts are just my opinion. Thank you for sharing yours:) |
I agree I think some people are just trying to start trouble when they start some threads |

I've been here quite a long time (lol ...no duh right ?) & I see how the site is NOW... In my opinion - the site is far better then when the drama seeker(s) were posting. I can understand someone who is sincerely interested in opinions - but there are a few personalities that just do it for the reaction - People aren't dumb - they catch on & can tell when it's for real or just for drama. |
