Debbie, I am glad your friend and God did not give up on you! There are some in my life just like you that I pray for...never give up!

I am a born again Christian. I have always believed in God. It wasn't until I was 24 that I made the decision to dedicate my life to Christ. I have to say that I love being in love with Jesus. I love the fact that he saved me. I love the way he payed the ultimate price so that my sins are forgiven. I love the fact that when nobody else is there for me, He is ALWAYS there. I know that most of you kow how I feel. I just thank Him everyday for giving me another opportunity to get closer to him. But to get back to the subject... I believe that God is the Father, Jesus is the Son of God who was sent to the Earth to reconcile man's relationship with the Father, I also believe in the Holy Ghost Spirit). I believe that the Holy Ghost is sent to Comfort us and to Convict us when we are having thoughts of evil. With all of that said I believe that The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost are One-in-the-Same which is commonly referred to as The Trinity. I Believe! Thank you Jesus.

Oh my God , the only jewish here.

I am jewish. I love my religion. I respect all the others and think that there is only one God for everybody. In each religion, he is called differently. My best friends are catholics. I think that tolerance is the key to understand your neighbour and live in peace. Shalom.

You know they say that religion is a hot topic, well that and politics and not to discuss it , but I think you ladies have done a great job I have enjoyed this thread a lot. We have all stated our views and beliefs and no one has gotten rude or out of order. I think God is smiling.

I agree with you so much! I saw the topic of this thread and held my breath a little unsure of what I would find within it. I think this thread is a good representation of the maturity and acceptance here! HOORAY to all of you for being open, honest and interested in learning about others :)

I believe in the Father, His son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.

Just think how great this forum could be if this kind of maturity and acceptance could be found in every thread..............

Simplistically stated.

I'm with you. Call me athiest if you will. I am not ashamed of my beliefs and I do not feel that I am less of a person, less worthy or less of a model citizen just because I don't believe in the Bible. To be honest, it offends me when in conversation, people start with the statement "as a christian, this is how i think i should handle such and such." How about as a caring human being, this is how i think I should handle such and such. Can't we be caring and concerned about others, be helpful and generous, without having to be religious?

I am a Christian and I believe in God's existence. I prefer to read the Bible and pray on my own than going to church. Just uncomfortable when everyone is being over-friendly..it can get scary.

In Christ I believe!!!

Monday November 6th, 2006...Yesterday...I witnessed a young man jump off the high five interchange in Dallas. I don't think I'll ever get over it but I will get through it with the help of my savior Jesus Christ...He died for me and through him I will get through this very painful experience. I can't close my eyes without seeing the image...it's horrifying...but the Father and his son are here with me now as I am typing this and they're watching out for me...I know it!!

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

AMEN!!!

Debbie... to the contrary, I got your point and was agreeing with you. I just do not believe in organized religion in general.

As I stated earlier, IMO organized religion does not teach from the bible, they pick out a few passages and use them to point out other peoples sins.

I couple of years ago, I went to a Luthren church for my Granddaughters baptism. It was a very modern church and had huge screens on the walls with the words of the hymns and so forth. On the screen they had a message about a protest march they were planning to protest Gay marriages and how the bible is against homosexuals.

The entire time I was there, I wanted to stand up and speak out about "let he who is without sin cast the first stone", and "judge not lest ye be judged." Some churches preach against inter racial marriages. talk about hypocrites.

My very own sister and BIL go to church every Sundy, they are involved in many of the church functions, yet they are two of the biggest racists that I know. They told their own grand daughter that if she married a black man she would never be welcome in their house.

My SIL on my husbands side, goes to church all the time, and when talking about the illegal immigration of the Mexicans, her comment was, they should set up machine guns and SHOOT them.:eek: :eek: :eek:

My mother, who went to church all the time, believed that the reason I am disabled is because God is punishng me. And that wealth is a reward for being a good person. So when her millionaire brother got cancer she was very troubled. Was he good or bAd, then she got cancer and felt she was being punished for having been so stingy about giving to the church.

WHAT DO THEY TEACH IN THOSE CHURCHES???? NONE OF THAT IS IN THE BIBLE.

Do people really believe that God likes some people better than others???? that he puts all the people he hates in third world countries and makes all the people that he likes wealthy or gifted??????????

I'm going to start my own church. Where people get together and discuss how to be better people rather than how to make other people be better people.

Sorry sorry Sorry I'll get down off my soapbox now.

I am writing a book on all of this. So hopefully some day I will be heard.

Me too! My mother is Jewish, and my father is Episcopalian. Judaism is a matriarchal religion...i.e. if your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish. Why? Because maternity is rarely in doubt :D Jews are wonderfully practical, don't you think?

Yes chloe,the lord will help you to be able to close your eyes again as you did before this happend without seeing this awful thing before you.Jesus has given you authority over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.That means you can tell satan to take his evil image that he is trying to torment you with and the memories of this sitiuation,and go from you .This whole thing is an attack of the enemy on you ,but Jesus gave you the power to over come the enemy trough His Word ,His Blood , His Name.He told us to submit ourselfs to God ,to resist the devil and he WILL FLEE FROM US.In order to change that image in your mind you have to replace it with something more powerful and that is the word of God.Jesus gave us the comand to cast down imaginations and every thing that comes into our mind that does not agree with Gods word.But the great thing is ,he didn't just tell us to do it but he gave us the power to do it with.So chloe,what i would do if i was in your shoes and needet to get over this ,i would comand satan to take his hand of your mind and body .Claim the power of the the blood of Jesus over your mind and get in the word of God and speak it out loud and meditate on it day and night untill the word has replaced the bad image with the image of God's word.Get on line and click on kenneth copeland ministries (kcm.org)I don't know if you know him,but he has a great ministrie that teaches the believer how to live victories and not be defeated by the evil one.God bless you and remember"GREATER IS HE WHO IS IN YOU,THEN HE WHO IS IN THE WORLD"!!!!!!!!

I used to be Catholic. Now I am against organized religion and am more of a believer in karma and "paying it forward".

If I absolutely HAD to pick a belief system, it would be Tibetan Buddhism. Am still considering following their beliefs, but I kind of like to drink alcohol every once in a while.

We are Christian .... I was raised Southern Baptist, Patrick was raised Catholic. As adults we both "left" the religion of our childhoods and ultimately both wound up in a Non-Denominational church and became best friends! We had many things in common ... both were single parents raising little girls alone .... both respected all religions and found things that we agreed with in all the teachings, etc. Bottom line ... I don't think it's "accidental" that our lives take us on winding roads that bring us to the point where we are today. We have learned that when God closes a door He always opens another. We sometimes have to be "shoved" through that new door!! :p We don't like it sometimes, in the end we always see that it was best for us and likely as not we are in a far better position than before. God has blessed us in so many ways and even though we are seldom in a church pew on Sunday morning, we feel that the examples set are far more influential in the lives of others. I suppose if we had to simplify our philosophy it would have to be "Do Unto Others"! We are all God's children and He loves us equally regardless of our church affiliation or lack of it. We can all do His work by loving each other, sharing and helping others .... wasn't that what Jesus was talking about?? ;)

DENISE517 11-08-2006 06:19 AM

I'm a Christian. Life is a struggle, no one is perfect, and I'm sure I make mistakes daily but I do my best to live by Gods word. I've been raised as a Christian all my life. Without My Lord and Savior, I'd be Nothing. :)

Judaism is based in the Old Testament of the Bible, the main Holy Scripture of Judaism. Christianity is based in the Old Testament and the New testament of the Bible, Christianity Holy Scriptures.

I am a Christian. I was born and raised Methodist, met my husband who was born and raised Episcopalian, we married in the Episcopal Church and now we attend the Episcopal Church. But, the denomination doesn't matter much to me. I believe in the Bible. And I don't believe that you have to go to church to be a good Christian, but I like surrounding myself with Christians, no matter what the denomination might be. God loves EVERYONE, no matter what religion or denomination, or lack thereof, you are. The Bible tells us that EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE, will all be in Heaven one day. "One day every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess you are Lord." However, the greatest treasure remains for those who gladly chose the Lord now.
