Kat's mom owns the stud and her grandmother owns the mama dog (who is now spayed and will live out the rest of her life as a pampered baby). She is actually a VERY beautiful deep rich chocolate brown. She just happens to have mostly black, multi-colored pups but I really love the mama's chocolate coloring, it's so beautiful. This was her last litter because Kat's grandmother was unable to take care of the mama before she was due to give birth (health reasons) so Kat stepped up and offered to take care of them for her. She kept the mama until she had the babies, then the mama dog got sick and wasn't able to nurse, so Kat basically bottled fed all 5 baby girls and nursed them round the clock (while still keeping the mama there for socalization purposes and taking care of her on top of everything). I think Kat did an AWESOME job and I'm proud to be getting a pup from her. :p |
Boy did you sum it up!!! It was some ordeal alright!!! a good lesson for anybody who is thinking about "breeding" their "pet" You'd be amazed at what can go wrong!!! And Wham! Your nursing five eight day old micro pups!!! Round the clock is right! You go from... Momma will do it all... to wow.. I now have NO LIFE! for the next 8 weeks!!! It was a labor of love... but most "pet" owners work full or part time and are just not prepared nor have the experience that I, thank god, had behind me... Its a monumental task to take on! even if NOTHING goes wrong... Its still a ton of work! But when your lucky enough to find homes like Jen for your babies... You feel like it was all so worth it!!! Cali was my pick of the litter.... She was my "payment" for raising the litter for my Grandmother... I had planned on keeping her.. But Jen PM'ed me and I just felt compelled to say yes to her.. after saying NO! to dozens of people.. I had turned down crazy offers of thousands... One guy stood in my living room and literally bid on her... in increments of five hundred... I could have walked away with over five grand  But seriously... I did not want her to be some rich jerks prize for his plastic trophy wife... Jen is the perfect home for her!!! Its not about the money... I have run Cali to the vet more than a few times for a sniffle or a sneeze... I really care about her... She is almost six months old.. she is my baby girl... I am going to have such a hard time watching her leave with Jen on that plane saturday! I am soooo mixed... I know she could not be going to a better place but how could I not feel such a loss with her gone??? God I'm going to miss her!!!! Damn you Jen! Love ya! |
