I need you guys!!!! Ok so my 1 year anniversary is coming up with my b/f. He's planning the weekend but I don't know what to get him as a gift. I was thinking of getting us either a couples massage or some ballroom dancing lessons. Is that totally cheesy?I dont' know if guys are into that stuff and we've never really talked about it so I don't know if he would be cool with it. He would just to make me happy but I really want him to love his gift. Please be honest, it won't hurt my feelings. I would love suggestions too. He loves sports, is very active but we've already gone to a ton of games and stuff. What do you think?? |
*bump* |
you won't get any help from me. I'm horrible at shopping for people. Money works so much better for me. |
Well......the massage idea..... Did not work for me.......Last week we had our anniversary.....well, I got hubby a massage...that cost me 125.00. Well, he said he did not want to go.....and told me to take it.......hummmmmmmmmmmm So, just when I thought I found something good to give my husband.....he nixed it and I have a cc for 125.00. So, maybe I will give it to someone else......:( |
how about a yorkie pup? ha ha ha, jk. If he likes sports you could get him one of those official jerseys for his favorite player. Or maybe a watch, if wears one? out of ideas...hope that helps |
What about an i-pod with your "song" already programed in it, that could be cute! |
Girl - I can think of alot to do but most is NOT G rated - :p I was going to say one of those all night 'hot tub' things but I remembered your b/f is a clean freak - I seriously doubt he'd want to do something like that - the massages sound REALLY good and you both get something out of that...hint hint:D the other thing that came to mind is you can rent some airtime - most all Flight schools/charter companies offer time in the air via Gift Certificate - where YOU can even take the controls - it's more affordable than you'd think - you could probably do 1/2 hour for under or around $100 |
wish i had an answer for you, but i need one too,, my anniv. is in dec. any ideas??????????????? |
What about a nice watch? I got Jim a Movado for our 2 year anniversary and he loves it. Or what about some sexy lingerie? hehehe :D Ok seriously, what about an official jersey of his favorite player or better yet, make HIM a scrap book!! Jim did that for me for our 1 year anniversary and I just about died. It was full of pictures, movie stubs of movies that we went to see together, broadway ticket stubs (like of Aida and Beauty and the Beast), a rose from the first dozen roses he ever bought me pressed into the book, a pair of chop sticks I used when we went to this really trendy Japanese restaurant and just anything else that we collected together. It was so awesome!! |
what about a little mini vacation for the following weekend, since hes planning this one....somewhere you can drive too...book a romantic hotel |

Guy's perspective: I wouldn't encourage you to surprise him with ballroom dance lessons. If he's not into it, it could turn out to be a horrible present! But they are very cool and something you guys should talk about. My wife and I recently took a couple classes through the rec department because private lessons are incredibly expensive. I didn't learn much, lol, but the time together was good for us. Of course, I'm 50, she's 47, so our interests are surely different than yours. As for what to get him, the couples massage sounds cool and unique. Or, better yet, a massage table and a book on massage. |

I am a firm believer that the way to a man's heart is through his tummy. Cook him his all time favorite meal and treat him to a night of wining and dining at home. I know you said he already has the whole entire weekend planned, but maybe you could do one night during the weekend and he could plan the other night or do it on Sunday night on the weekend of your anniversary. My hubby always likes things that are more thoughtful and take some effort than just going out and buying him something material. On the massages or ballroom dancing, it really just depends on your bf. Gina said that she and her bf LIKE to dance and take lessons. And my Dad loves getting massages as gifts. However, my hubby would not like either of those things. So, it really just depends on your bf whether he would like either one of those gifts or not. |

I LOVE this idea!!!!! This could go along with your evening at home after you cook him his favorite dinner. ;) |
Well I make him dinner quite a bit as I love to cook and he loves my cooking. Most of the time he takes me out but occasionally I cook for him. I have an apartment and wouldn't know where to put a massage table :p but it's a good idea for later when I have a big house. He loves dancing which is why I thought he would like the ballroom, he used to be quite the break dancer back in his days  and we've been watching Dancing with the Stars, etc. Hmmm...you guys are getting my creative juices flowing :p |

Back to the massage idea: You wouldn't have to get the table. Just a book and some massage oils and a cheap mat for the floor. |
Maybe you could casually mention taking ballroom dancing classes in a casual conversation and see how he reacts to it. Maybe say your friend is taking classes with her bf or spouse and see what he says about it. Based on his reaction, you can decide whether he would like that or not. |
I think the couple's massage is a great idea! Who could go wrong with that??? The ballroom dancing is a little cheasy but the massages?? anyone would want one of those, they're sooo relaxing. |
oh well nm i just read that he loves dancing so maybe ballroom is better |
Not knowing your b/f or his interests it's hard to say. However, if you guys are going away for the weekend I'd vote for the couples massage. Then I'm with V with the non G rated ideas. Go to Lovers or something like that, pick out a few somethin somethins, then after the massage you guys could order strawberries, champaign or something like that and go from there. I one also included home made coupons. i.e. one free backrub, his choice of dinner, one homemade batch of his favorite cookies, choice of movie, one night of (almost) anything goes his choice, footrub, you get the idea... romantic things but also day to day things. |
