Switching to Cingular and need a new phone I am finally getting out of my cell phone contract and am switching to cingular. :thumbup: I was wondering if any of you had good or bad experiences with a particular model cell phone. I am interested in phones with good reception above all, and not so much all the frills. Any input on a good quality phone to purchase, or one not to get, would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.:) |
When we first got Cingular we just had the free Samsung flip phone that came with our service and it sucked! We couldn't get good service and sometimes the phone would shut off, like it had battery problems. Not sure though. Last month we finally got Razr phones and it works lots better!!!! I don't know how they do nationwide, but around here it works so much better. I have no problems getting service. I hope this helps!! |

Cingular offers the Motorola RAZR, and those are great phones. They carry the pink and blue ones!!! My husband has just the plain silver, but he absolutely loves that phone. I am jealous....... |
I have Cingular and have the LG flip phone and have had no problems. I found the Nokia phones in my experience had longer lasting battery life. |
I've had problems with my LG phone picking up. May just be the area. I got a pink Razr and just love it. My hubby has a Motorola flip/camera phone and its great too. Daughter has a pink Razr too. |

I have had cingular for many years. I find (unfortunately) the better the phone (more expensive) the better the reception. I think it depends on your area also...we get ALOT of dropped calls. We will be switching over to verizon. |
I have cingular and the razr..never had a problem (except when I dropped it in the toilet, but thats another story..) I really want the SLVR, though.. |
My last phone was a Nokia. It was a POS. I had to send it in three times to get fixed. I don't remember the model number but it was 6XXX (6thousand something). I now have a RAZR & LOVE it. It's the best phone I've ever had. I get great coverage, and it's just all around a good phone, IMO. |
I've had the RAZR for about 2 years now it looks great! My mom even washed in the washing machine a few times and it still works lol but after about a year it started to have this weird metal smell and I looked it up on google and it says something about the number faceplate and what its made off. Maybe thats cause it was washed a few times lol.:confused: |

We just switched to cingular yesterday. So far so good, but it's only been a day. We went to Radioshack and got a Sony Ericsson phone, I believe W3001 or something like that. It has MP3 player, camera, video recorder, radio, and I'm still learning more! This phone seems pretty durable too, part of the $19.99, and with the purchase of one you can get up to 3 free ones. So we got 2 for only $19.99. Usually I gotta have the top of the line phone, but this one was such a steal I couldn't pass it up. |
i have a pink razr... and had to replace it after 4 months..half the buttons quit working! When I called to complain about it the guy with cingular asked if I had ever dropped it, I was like...seriously, who has had a cell phone and NOT dropped it, LOL. He said..well I know what you mean, I said yes, I have dropped it, but not within a month or so, LOL Got a new one in the mail a few days later. Honestly don't think I would buy another razr if I were purchasing one...they are ok..but nuttin to write home about, LOL :D |

:thumbdown I have a SLVR and it sucks!!! The reception on it is worthless, and when someone calls, it rings but the screen will be black for 2 seconds before you can answer it. It's my second one (had to have the first replaced for dropping calls) and they've both done it. My boyfriend has the SLVR also and he has the same problems. |
is SLVR motorola also? I think it might just be motorola phones in general. I had their phones when I had nextel and I had to go to the repair shop more then I should have had to go. W/ nextel-motorola phones you definitly do not get what you pay for. They are so expensive, and my free phones I had with other companies didn't break as much! |

I have a razor and love it for most things. i do agreee with Chachi in the fact they are harder to HEAR out of. LOL... I thought I was the only one who thought this but I guess now 2 of us are hard of hearing...HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA:p |
Oh my....you dont want to hear what I have to say about Cingular...., I have had Cingular for about 1 year. I am on my 4th phone, although the last 3 have been pink razors......apart from the fact that when you have a defective phone, you have to get a REFURBISHED phone. So, guess what.....you get phones that have/had something wrong......and they may not be fixed....as I have found out..... I have three phones,me, hubby and son.... and have spent at least 2hrs a month trying to get MY service from dropping.....I use the phone a whole lot...this is since last November. The service people are clueless, make promises to fix things and don't then when they call you back, if they call you.....they cannot remember what the original issue was.....and then you have to spend more time in trying to explain it OVER AGAIN.... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I would not recommend them...other carriers offer the razr phone too. :thumbdown |
my husband had cingular for like 2 years and hated it.. never wanted to use his phone.. always had dropped calles, never had any receptions.. always had to use my phone.. so he thought maybe it was the phone, he got the black razor.. and that was a piece of doo doo LOL.. the battery life on his was poop and the reception was still poop.. so he got the SLVR and it was nice and all, but the reception everywhere we went was awful!! so we got a family plan together and he made the switch to Verizon and he said he's mad that he didn't switch sooner! :) its pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.. all my friends and family have verizon, so its like i never use any minutes! :) |
I don't have cingular but RAZRs are crap. Mine wasn't even a year old and it had software issues and died on me. When I went to verizon to have it replaced, the woman in front of me was on her 3rd RAZR in 4 months--she had similar issues and battery issues. The customer service person at verizon said that her RAZR phone also died that same day. She said that there are alot of software issues with RAZR phones. She also said that the most recently made motorola phones are not made like they were in the past. They're expensive phones but the quality is just no longer there. |

I have the LG1400i and I don't the fact that I think it doesn't ring loud enough I miss alot of calls due to that fact that on level 5 I can't hear it and my battery life should be longer other than that It's ok My husband has the Razor phone and has no complaints |
I have a Motorolla phone it's not a razor. Not had any problems with it. I do have Cingular and no major problems with them. Maybe it depends on where in the US you are as to the kind of cell service you get with it. We are in the Atlanta metro area and very seldom get dropped calls. There are a couple of places it will drop but not many. My husband has an LG flip phone which is my old one but is getting an upgrade soon. He is getting another LG phone. A good friend of mine and her husband have the razors and don't like them at all. She said that they have a hard time hearing out of them. |
