When do you put up your Christmas tree and decorations? I was just curious as to when everyone does it... I have heard of a few people who have started putting stuff up already and I thought that was kinda funny since Halloween still hasn't passed. :D Since I'm not only going to be at my house for the first half of December (I'm going on vacation and then to my mom's house for Christmas) I was thinking about putting stuff up mid November so I could actually enjoy it or immediately after I get back from Thanksgiving. |
I put mine up after Thanksgiving. |
After Thanksgiving for sure. I get so ticked off when I see people put stuff up any earlier - especially stuff on the lawn or in the windows! |
We put our Christmas stuff up the day after Thanksgiving. Always been a tradition to do it then. |
We always put ours out after Thanksgiving |
Unless we're gone Thanksgiving weekend, the tree and outside decor goes up during that weekend. The hubby takes everything down the day after Christmas, so I like time to enjoy it!! |
We have always put up our tree and decorations the day after Thanksgiving. Now, taking it down...that is another story......sometimes it comes right down and sometimes, it takes awhile! I really do not like seeing Christmas stuff in the stores in summer either! I think that is crazy! I can see it going up around Halloween or so, but not before summer ends. |
I put mine up the day after Thanksgiving and take it down on New Year's day. |
right after thanksgiving. |
Right after thanksgiving |
Usually about 3 weeks after Thanksgiving...I leave mine up until after little Christmas which, is jan 7th. |

I was thinking about going to StewiesMom's house and decorating outside for her......maybe this weekend :) HEHEHEHEHEHE I like to put up my decorations Thanksgiving weekend. :) |
About 2 weeks before Christmas and take it all down first week in January. :snowman: |
The Friday after Thanksgiving. |
We put up the outside lights in before halloween as it usually gets really cold on the fingers to do it afterwards..then we decorate the house the first of November..I love Christmas and enjoy every second of it..before its all overwith.. Dawn |
The day after Thanksgiving. Then it comes down the first week of Jan. I figure, with all the effort that goes into decorating, I want to enjoy it for a while. |
I think tradition is to leave it up until Jan 7th which is Three Kings Day - you know when according to the Bible the three kings found baby Jesus in the manger... |
Good grief.. I usually put mine up a couple of weeks before Christmas and take them down quite often the day after Christmas. I have taken real trees down on Christmas nite as I can only stand the needles so long. If I put up Christmas stuf now, I would have to dust it, forget it! Don't mean to be a scrooge, but this is wayyyyy tooooo early! |
it used to be that we put our christmas decorations right after thanksgiving but during the last 2 years it has been the weekend before so that when Myka comes home, we won't be wasting so much time putting up decorations. I have quite a bit of christmas decorations and the christmas tree alone takes about 3,000 plus lights so we try to prolong the celebration. Normally after 3 kings (first sunday of January) is when the decorations are put away. |
I usually put stuff out sometime after Thanksgiving, but not later then the end of the first week of December. I take them down during the first week of January, the tree maybe sooner depending on how it did. I don't like the fake ones. |
We usually put up the tree and most of the decorations on Thanksgiving day after dinner. Reason being that I usually have at least some of the kids home then to help. It usually ends up being my daughters and I that put it all up although my son-in-law gets to carry everything up from the basement. Then we usually take it down New Years Day. I am in retail so those are about the only days I have off anyway around Christmas time. :aimeeyork :animal-pa |

I put mine up some time after Thanksgiving. |
I absolutely LOVE decorating for Christmas and I do it the day before Thanksgiving (sorry if this angers anyone).....I do this because I have a housefull of people of Thanksgiving and I like to light all the lights in the evening while they are still here. |
We usually put up the tree on dec. 6th and take it down after the first week in jan. |
Mine don't go up until after Thanksgiving normally the weekend after and I leave them up until after New Years. I wish the stores would at least wait until after Halloween before they put their Christmas things out. |
I put everything up after Thanksgiving. Then I take it down at the end of the first week of January. |
Not the weekend immediately following T'giving, but the next weekened.:) |
We usually hang out outdoor lights around this time of year cause once the snow flies it's much to dangerous...and cold! December 1st I start hauling out the decorations for inside. |
We used to put our tree and decorations up by the first week-end in December but now, I put it up the day after Thanksgiving. My sister, BIL, niece, and her husband spend Thanksgiving with us each year and can't come back in December (they live in Florida) so we usually have Christmas with them the Friday evening after Thanksgiving. This year, my niece and her hubby have to go back to Florida Friday afternoon for a wedding on Saturday morning so.....depending on how I feel, I may put the tree up Wednesday night before Thanksgiving as we are going to have to exchange our gifts with them Thanksgiving night. When I was little, my mom always took the tree down either on Christmas Day or the day after as we left to go to my grandparents - she said she didn't want to come home after New Years and take the tree down so she did it before we left. Because of this, I take my tree down the day after Christmas - and if I'm too lazy or have to work, it definitely comes down before New Years Day. Normally, I don't put a tree up until after Thanksgiving - this year may have to be the exception depending on travel times for my niece. |
I usually start right after Thanksgiving but I'm having surger this year so I'll probably be doing it right before Turkey Day! |
