4 Attachment(s) German Shepherds are the best...They are smart and easy to train and man do they love you...I have a 6 1/2 month old one named Max...He is a love bug...they do shed but not as bad as goldens and labs....:) |
We have a lab mix. Yes he goes to the groomer. Just keep the hair pretty short. They'll still shed, but not as badly. I prevent the crazy shedding by taking Rusty outside once (sometimes twice) a day and brush him out completley. He doesn't shed too badly. Also, German Shepards are wonderful dogs. I'd love to have one someday. Someone is giving away a 4 year old Shepard for free here, but 4 dogs would just be way too much. |
I have a german shepherd and I have to admit his high quailty diet and treats also helps with shedding. Nupro supplement has helped to keep the shedding down too. I think if you give him a high quailty diet along with regular grooming you should have some shedding but not so much its untollerable |
1 Attachment(s) We have a Boxer..... who has very short hair. We also have hardwood floors. Everytime I sweep I have a HUGE PILE of little short Boo the Boxer hair. The Yorkies LOVE LOVE LOVE Boo. They usually Chizzie and Howard can usually be found snoozing with Boo in Boo's favorite chair. |
I have a yellow lab and she lives inside with the little ones... she goes outside during the day when the weather is nice. She requires LOTS of brushing but as with any other shedding pooch, consistency keeps the hair down. She gets brushed everyday along with the babies... I also find that a good rubdown with my fingers before coming in helps alot... we LOVE Laci and having her big ole self with is... LOL... see her pic in the My Yorkie Forum, LOOK... its a herd! |

We have two yellow labs. Our femaile sheds pretty bad but our male doesnt hardly at all....:D |
We have an Australian shepherd/cattle dog.He is one of the best dog's i have ever owned. We have hard wood floor's all through out our house and i have to sweep the main parts of our house at least 4 times a day due to his shedding. It even gets into room's that he doesent go into.In the summer we shave him down once all the way to the skin and by the time fall get's here he has most of his coat back. Those summer months are a blessing because i only sweep once a day or every other day.I am glad yorkies dont sheed! |

I would not mind having a german shepherd, they kind of watch where there going more. Unlike labs... well maybe its just this one I watch... he runs intoEVERY thing and nocks stuff over all the time.!! |

Aww that is the cutes pic! |
Have you decided yet? We have both (lab and german sheppard)...they both shed...sheppard not has much as lab, but still pretty noticeable where you would have to clean...they are outside but sleep inside because of the wild animals we have here..... What does everyone feed their big dogs? And what supplements are safe for them to take that helps shedding? Just curious, since we are on this subject! |
Furminator There's a new brush out by furminator and it's incredible. I have several labs but only one in the house and the hair is unbearable. However, we take her to the groomer once a month and they do a shedless treatment on her. I think the link is www.furminator.com but I'm not sure. If you do a search for furminator you'll find. It makes a huge difference. |

Thank you, here's another..... Boxers are the GREATEST with Yorkies. I don't think there is a better big dog/little dog combination :) |
