I received this just now: From Lauren

I have good news and slightly bad news. I like good news first, so
that is where I will begin... Chopstix left leg has thus far been the
better of the two. Dr. Bentley has decided from looking at Chopper's
new x-rays from today that even with plates, he will not be able to
improve upon Chopper's left front leg without breaking it again. It is
healing, all-be-it not perfectly, but it will only be slightly
crooked/curved and shouldn't give her trouble later on. The slightly
bad news is that we are now going to try to wait 30 days before trying
to salvage her right leg. It is not very straight or strong right now.
The tendons are so loose that her foot just flops. Because of this, we
are concerned that she might have to have her wrist joints on her
right leg only permanently fused. If this has to happen, we would like
to only have to do such a surgery once instead of plating her leg
today, then four weeks down the road re-placing the plate and fusing
her wrist. Her leg would eventually look like swiss cheese, and then
probably bleu cheese when it started to crumble from all the holes
drilled through it :( Anyway, the bottom line is that her left leg is
okay for the moment, and her right leg is crappy. Chopper on the other
hand is resting peacefully as she was sedated and prepped for surgery
that didn't take place. I will kiss the baby for you all, and thanks
for all the prays sent Chopstix way today. They did help...her
pre-anesthetic bloodwork came back perfect! I am disappointed because
I really wanted to get this ball rolling so that we could at least say
that we were making progress. I'll keep this site updated, I promise.

okay, so I dont exactly understand about the right leg. Does that mean she wont ever be able to use the right leg? Is she saying without the surgery it would crumble like cheese? I read it a few times and I just dont get it so can someone explain it to me?

What I got from it if they keep doing surgery, derilling more wholes the bones would become weak from all the holes. I think they are waiting for the right(I think it was the right) to get stronger before they do surgery.
What happen to chopstix's legs?

Shadow, there are a few other thread around here (Off Topic forum) about Chopstix....or you could find them if you search on my name.

Basically, she was rescued from a situation where her legs had been broken, and then "tied off" in an attempt to make them fall off entirely. A really horrible abuse case, which is why her story has captured so many hearts.

That poor little baby :( I'm glad she has such a wonderful person caring for her right now!!!

that poor baby! even though its hard to wait, the doc is right. in this case its best to wait an extra month to get the tendons and muscles in better shape on that right leg before going in to surgery. keep us updated and give that baby lots of kisses.

I joined the Laurenszoo yahoo group which is where you can find more information and updates about chopstix. And one of their post says people have been sending chopstix hate mail. Can you believe this? It makes me sick. I was so excited to get to work today to check on Chopstix! I'm so happy about the good news :) and so sad about the not so good news.:( If prayer can do anything, this little sweetheart will be happy and well soon. I think she must have a great doctor looking after her, and my special thanks goes out to him, and all those looking after her.

It's so creepy and discouraging that people trying to do good in this world have to put up with PSYCHOS like that. But I have to admit, I got a good chuckle out of her claiming definitively that the IRS had NOT been informed about all the donations. And you know this....how?!?! :p I guess she is not only psyCHO, but psyCHIC, and can see into the future! ;)

What a bitch. Can I say that on here? Anyway, she is. She must not have pets. And she's blocked the return mails??? Coward.

Someone always wants to gripe or cause a problem but it REALLY pisses me off when they want to do it a the expense of others. I am so mad just thinking about it! The person that sent that letter is completely heartless if they can look at chopstix and send hateful messages.

I KNOW!!! I can't understand why everyone would not have compassion for Chopstix. I just don't get it. It's like she's just become disposable or something! Someone broke her freakin legs and tied them off! Who could turn their back on that???

Petfinder is such a great thing and this chick is asking for trouble if she starts picking fights with animal lovers! I know you've got my back;)

I read that CRAP late last night when Lauen first posted it. I tried immediately to send the bi*ch an e-mail and she is not accepting ANY e-mails. That tells you right there what she is. I was like you...just furious! That is a perfect example why I have a preference for fur people over skin people. How cruel!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:
