OK I was in 3rd grade. and even though you might not think I would, I do remember 9/11 perfectly. I remember school had just started a few days earlier, so we were still getting used to everything. We all got settled in and a few minutes after the lesson started, my teacher got a call from the office on the classroom phone. of course we didn't think anything of it, they always get calls. She brought us over into the corner of the class room and she was reading to us. I remember that a lot of my friends were getting signed out. I was really confused as to why everyone was leaving, because noone told us what was going on. Every 2 minutes someone else went down to the office to get signed out. I remember we had gotten to the point that all of us kids were laughing everytime the phone rang, because what are the odds of everyone leaving at one time? I stayed for the whole day of school because my parents were at a funeral. They told me what had happened after we got home. Even though I didn't really understand what was going on then, I knew that it was bad. everyone was really sad. but now I obviously understand and whenever someone talks about it I get really sad. The whole thing was just horrible....:( |
I think we all will remember where we were that day.... I had been laid off my really great job - and taken one of those recruiting jobs - where you do test things and get paid to do it....and almost home ....when I heard it on the news. I along with the world thought it was a terrible accident till I saw the 2nd plane hit.....We were glued to our tv for days....:( |
I was up in Massachuttes doing my student teaching... One of my little Kindergarten students lost her mother (she was on one of the planes out of boston).. I remember being so worried becuase my sister was At NYU in the city and my mom was planning on going in that day.. I will never forgot this tragedy |
i was in the 2nd day and like megan i remember it perfectly. we were all watching some fraction movie thing and everyone started getting called in to go home. i was very confused and i remember when i got called my mom just said "The twin towers were hit by a plane" or something like that and i didnt understand for a while. i just remember being sad and my mom told me to pray. God bless all those people and their families |
1 Attachment(s) I was painting the interior of a garage with the radio playing when they interrupted and told about the first plane going into the twin towers. We live about 50 miles from the Pittsburgh airport and see planes flying in there all the time but I saw a plane very low in the sky, very unusual. And it didn't appear to be flying level. It wasn't long after that that they announced about the plane that went down in PA. I got shivers up and down my spin. My husband is a volunteer fireman and the following February we had the opportunity to visit ground zero to pay our respects. What you saw on TV doesn't even begin to describe it. As an artist, I sculpted this plaque for my husband and local fire departments, cast in aluminum and clear coated locally and then hand painted the flag. |
