You need a hug, too! |
Poor little Savannah! I feel so bad for her and you also! Kidney infections are not only dangerous, but they are terribly painful! It boils my blood that they don't put people in the hospital for kidney infections any more. When I was at the ER with my aunt one night, in the waiting area, a lady came in with her her 7 year old daughter who was in such horrid pain she couldn't walk. Poor little girl sat there for hours waiting to be seen and when she finally was, at 1 AM, they gave her morphine and sent her home...and they lived an hour and a half away! Her mom ended up bringing her back to ER twice more and got sent home both times. It's sad and seems that medical facilities that claim to care for the patient, really don't seem to care at all. Maddie and I send get well wishes and hugs to Savannah and you!!! |
I just got back to find this thread and as I clicked on the last page I am hoping that all would be well by now :( . . . . guess not. Sending warm thoughts and lots of prayers to you both. |
Well..the tests came back on her pee...she has E Coli bacterial infection of the kidneys. He wants her to come back in Monday for another pee test and see if the antibiotic is doing ok....I hope so. Shes peed more today and has no fever but the doc was hoping for more pee than shes doing. He dont want to hospitalize her unless its abslutely necessary and since she is peeing and stuff he wants to wait it out. You can see alittle improvement from her but you can tell she's still under the weather..:( Kinda bittersweet day i guess! |
E Coli??? That's some pretty nasty stuff. Could she have gotten it from one of the DC kids? I hope she starts feeling better soon. It's so sad when little ones get sick 'cause they don't understand why they feel so bad. Prayers for Savannah's quick recovery. |

I hope the antibiotics kick in and she gets better soon. Hugs to her and you too, Mom.:) |
I hope she gets better soon! Sick babies are no fun! I was at the ER with mine this past weekend.:( I was reading on msn that e coli was going around because of bagged spinach. Does your daughter eat that? |
you have e coli in your own feces. Could she possibly be wiping wrong. |

Be on the look out and know the symptoms of hemolytic uremic syndrome which sometimes comes with e coli bacteria/kidney infection in children under 5. Also practice really good hygiene because you can pass e coli back and forth. Adults only keep the bacteria for about a week, but for some reason children keep it for 3 weeks. Here's a link to read about hemolytic uremic syndrome: http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseas...rome/index.htm |
Well, it was all over the news last night and this morning that the FDA has ordered that all pre-bagged spinach be thrown out due to a severe E Coli outbreak. The first thing I thought about was poor little Savannah. Has she eaten any pre-bagged spinach? If she has, she could have gotten the E Coli from there. How is she doing today, by the way? |

eat spinach?? yeah right. Thank God no... I always go with her when she pottys and she knows to wipe front to back..i dont know how she got it but hopefully will NEVER get it again!! I thouroughly wash our lettuce to because I think their was a outbreak of E COLI in the bagged lettuce here at one time.....makes you feel safe doesnt it?? |
I guess I should have clarified what I meant when I asked if she could have gotten it from another DC child. I worked at an environmental testing lab and e-coli can come from poo. Could another child have had some on their hand and touched something that Savannah then touched and it just got transferred from there? Or possible from a pet? It is can be some pretty scarey stuff. I hope she is feeling better now. Give her our love and you take care, too. (((HUGS))) |
