Prayer Request
 

My nephew was in a terrible car accident on Friday night at 12:30 AM. He was thrown 75 feet from his vehicle, but that is probably a good thing because it didn't land on him. This was on a rural county road, so there was not traffic by there and he layed in a ditch until the next morn at 10:30 when the mailman went by. It got down to 35 degrees that night and he wasn't even wearing a jacket. The mailman drove by thinking that that accident had been attended to, and then decided to go back and check. When he did he found Philip. He was in kidney failure and has spent the last couple of days in ICU. They took him into surgery to pop his hip back into place. His kidneys are now functioning, thank goodness. He is in very tough shape with all of his injuries. He also has a separated shoulder and may have that in both shoulders. He's hurting something awful. I feel so bad and was out of town when I heard about it and just got back today.

Would you be so kind as to say a prayer for him...his name is Philip Hanson. When you pray, would you also ask for him to get the help he needs for his drinking problem? Yes...that is what got him into this mess in the first place. I just hope and pray he can heal from his injuries and also from this terrible addiction.

Our prayers are with you!! My husband and I are both recovering alcoholics. I was sober 2 years and had a slip a few months ago but am back on track, my husband also Philip isnt so lucky he seems to slip every few weeks or can go as long as 6 months and slip again. Its a terrible terrible disease and I can totally understand what you are going through as I am in both sets of shoes. Maybe this accident will get him into a good recovery home or AA. Just remember the serenity prayer...its my lifeline...

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the diffence.

Connie, I am so sorry that Philip has to go through this! Perhaps it will be a wakeup call when he realizes how fortunate he is that his accident wasn't much, much worse! Alcoholism is a horrible disease and is so hard to fight. We will be praying for him! Please let us know how he is doing. God bless you all.

I am praying for Phillip's complete recovery both from his injuries & his addiction to this terrible legal drug. Maybe this will be what wakes him up & causes him to seek help. My parents were alcoholics & it is a terrible terrible demon. I pray that God will give you the wisdom to help in his recovery.

Dear Heavenly Father, please be with Philip as he recovers form this accident. Help him Lord to heal mentally and physically from it. Lord no one knows Philip as well as you do. You know just what he needs to mend and be healthy again. I pray you would work in his life to help him not only through the recovery of his injuries but also in the recovery of his alcoholic illness... Please bear the burden for him when he feels he can not bear it any longer... I pray you would put people in his life that would embrace him and help him through the process. I thank you for sparing his life, it is clear you have a better plan for him. Please help him find it and go on to be a healthy person who maybe can help others after he gets well... Thank You Lord for your unconditional love you bestow on us... Amen

it tends to keep coming out lemongrass and birch

Prayers for Phillip's recovery and realization of what drinking does will be said tonite at our house. Please God, Bless Phillip and all of his family and help them work their way thru his recovery, both physical and mental.

OMG Connie !!! You have my prayers....Please keep us posted and all the best to Phillip and your family...how scary. He has a long road ahead of him...but he is a very lucky boy to have survived this.

OH Connie, I am so sorry to hear this! I lost my dad to an accident regarding his alcolholism! My prayers are with you and your family to get through this and I also pray for your nephew to get better and hope that he will get help with his problem before a worse accident can occur.

Many prayers going out to your nephew, you, and your family. Having an older brother who suffers from alcoholism, I know how you feel. Maybe the accident is just what needed to happen for him to open his eyes but only time will tell. Until then, prayers from Mississippi.

brother's recovery and for you to have strength to get through this. Stay strong.

I went to see Philip today! He's now out of ICU and in a regular room. He is hurting pretty bad, but he definitely is feeling a little better as he had a good sense of humor and made us laugh...which did my heart good. They still are not sure what to do for his shoulders...the one is separated which is different from being dislocated. He was told he'd be better off if he'd broken his hip and shoulder than what his injuries are. It's weird...his one shoulder that is separated doesn't hurt as bad as his other shoulder and they can't find anything wrong with that one. Go figure.

Thanks everyone for your prayers! They're helping him for sure! I'm just so happy he's alive...it was a miracle he made it through that horrible night!!! Please remember him in your prayers!

Just a thought.. I had a nasty fall and have had problems, so something came to mind. After all my broken bones healed I found I had injured my neck and had a ruptured disc that pinched a nerve. I was surprised that that was what it was because the pain (and it WAS painful!!) was in my shoulder, eventually going down my arm so I couldn't use my hand.

Could he have something like that causing his shoulder to hurt? My injury is at C6 and C7 and evidently that is where the nerve for your arm branches off from your spine. Couldn't hurt to have it checked again. Maybe they didn't look up high enough on his neck...

Sherry...I remember your neck problem...is it lots better now? I am going to mention that just in case they missed something. What you said makes a lot of sense. I'm sure they did a cat scan or MRI on him, but they can miss something when reading them. I will let you know! Thanks for your message!

OMG Connie. How horrible. I will be praying very hard for a very speedy recovery. Thank God the mailman found him, oh I get chills thinking of the poor boy having to lie there all night. Please know that I will be thinking of you and your family and praying that everything works out just right.

i am so sorry for your family in their time of need I have said a prayer for him and for the Heavenly Father to help him kick his drinking problem, and to make a full recovery!

Everything happens for a reason and unfortunately, this may be Gods way of telling your Nephew that he has a second chance to go down the right road. My prayers are with you and your family for a speedy recover for Phillip.
