Vent Whine and Scream I'm not getting Jedi. spent another $200. plus today on Lily at the vet's office she was playing with me and just started to sezie again and this time she wouldn't stop. so after a road race to the ER. we got her stabilzed and she's spending the night. the vet says if we can find the right med conbo we can stop her from having them. I just want to cry. I love Lily and all but I really wanted a healthy little sweetie too. sigh.... I'm broke again and can't afford the $125. to get him. so I quess again I'll have to wait. |
Oh I'm so sorry about Lily and missing youir chance to get another one. I hope they get her on the right meds so she can live a happy healthy life. |
I'm so sorry :( Just keep in mind that Lily needs you right now. I know how frustrating it can be. I just took Timmy to the vet the other day for an x-ray and spent $124 plus the office visit the night before. Just when I think I am ahead of myself I fall behind but I also knew that if I wanted them I had to have the money to take care of them. I opened an account for them at my bank and put in $50 in that account every two weeks just in case they get sick. Just a thought! Keep the faith....he will come to you when its time. |
Poor little bitty girl  I really hope she gets well and you find the right medication combination in order for her to STAY healthy. :( |
jsut aching. I've Lily such a short time and she's already cost me about 3000. sigh. and she was a free pup. so a leason learned. nothing's ever free. but I love her and until she's ready or the vet ruly believes it's kinder. she's mine. |
I'm sorry. You sound like you're doing everything in your power to keep her going and I really hope they find the right medication for her and that it WORKS. I'm really sorry she's having seizures but so far - she's still with you and that means alot. About getting another one - when the time is right you'll know it...but it sounds like you have your hands full right now. Poor baby -do they know what's causing all this ? GOOD LUCK !! |

What's causing the seizures, does the vet know? |
That's so sad. Is it epilepsy or does the dr know? Our yorkies are like our children. You never know whether you're getting a healthy one or not. Like you are doing, you just love them and try to keep them safe and well. |
it's a conbenation of alot of things. One the vet darn sure she's only barely right now 8 weeks old. I was told when I got her she was. but every vet we've seen our regualr to the ER vets. say 5 - 6 tops when I got her about three weeks ago. sigh. Elipsay, possible shunt. and brain damage. to some point. just so tired and crying. and I'm just tired. sorry all. almost everyday a vet trip. and still she's oakyish. but worried I'm going to lose her. |
awww how sad about Lily! I sure hope she gets better real soon! Positive thoughts and a cyber hug coming your way! |
My little Jewel had seizures too. How old is she? How long has she been having seizures? This is a bit long but I know from experiance that it helps. We learned a lot about seizures during the course of Jewel's illness and we want to share what we learned. If you can, have her put on Potassium Bromide since it would not harm her liver or kidneys like Phenobarbitol does. Potassium Bromide takes longer to contol the seizures but it's so much better for the little ones in long term use. The P.Bromide will require periodic blood test to see if she is getting enough to control the seizures. If your doctor is not familiar with it, find a doctor who is. Phenobarbitol is really butal on them. Some things you can do to help her (inexpensively) is to add plain gelatin to her food. The gelatin is supposed to nourish the brain. Also, consider taking her off of foods that are glutens like wheat, corn, soy & dairy products. Gluten is the main ingrediant in glue products. It coats the intestines, like glue, and blocks the body from being able to absorb important vitamins and minerals that the body & brain needs. You may also want to consider having her wear a bell so you can hear if she has an attack. THINGS TO DO DURING A SEIZURE: *Keep a ice pack in the freezer & vanilla ice cream *Grab a towel (incase she looses control of her bowel or bladder) *Stay calm. Gently talk to her. *During the seizure, put the ice pack on her back between the lower ribs and her tail. It helps to keep her temp down and is supposed to shorten the duration of the seizure. *After the seizure, she my pace around and could even walk into furniture and walls so keep her in a safe area. *Give her a little bit of the ice cream to help cool her and give her some sugar. If the seizue lasts more than 2 minutes GET TO THE HOSPITAL! I kept a log on Jewel that I took to each doctors visit. I had the date, time and duration of the episode. What she was doing just before it started and how she acted after. Seizures can be triggered by Thyroid disease or a liver shunt so if she hasn't been tested for it get it done so you can rule it out or treat it. I hope & pray she gets better. There is a very informative web site for seizures: http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-...m/site_map.htm Also I have a thread about Epilepsy & Allergies that may help you. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43979 |
