HA:rolleyes: I thought I would love it too but I HATE IT NOW. I was bored after about 1 year here. We have been here like 5 years now and in the mountain country WV for 2 years before that. OK ... the WV move was for hubbie work. he was there scouting for houses and told me how QUAINT it was.. I got there and hought ... I'm going HOME and getTing outta here... but I had aLREADY SOLD MY HOUSE. tHEN HE GOT TRANSFERRED AND WE MOVED HERE AND i THOUGHT .. GREAT ...It at least will be better.... WELL ... It's better but still DEAD Boring. You can go to church for excitement and if you really wanna have fun go to the school football games...YEA HA... doesn't that sound like I'm living it up:rolleyes: GOOD GRIEF.. I grew up Nightclubbing and meeting people and being out until everything close ... which was NEVER:p LOL.. 3 years ago I went to Vegas for a weekend and almost didn't come back.. I was thinking YEAHHHHH now this is MY kind of life..then I had to come back to this old lady town . Somebody SHOOT ME. i'm just 1 foot from the grave here anyways:rolleyes: |
LOL! I'm sorry, not laughing at you - laughing WITH you:) As V said, the grass isn't (or is) greener. I'm the total opposite - country girl all the way! With the exception of the 6 years I lived in the greater New Orleans area with hubby, I've been "in the country". Yep, it does get rather boring here where I live and I can SO relate to the comment about high school football - but, I LOVE football so I do have fun at the games (I always forget I'm not in front of my tv at those games and yell out "break his legs, take him out at the knees"). But as boring as it may get at times, I so enjoy looking out my front window at the deer that walk across our yard - so peaceful. And the privacy that we have out here can't be found in the city. But to someone who's not grown up with the lifestyle, I can understand how boring it can be. I hope things improve and some excitement enters your life there soon:) |
I live on 7 1/2 acres, with 2 horses, 2 cats and 2 yorkies, and life here is anything but boring. Sweetie, happy comes from the inside out. If you are happy with yourself, you will be happy no matter where you are. If you are not happy, it won't matter where you are. Find something you like to do. I enjoy my own company, and I have a lot of projects that I switch between, sometimes I get so busy, I forget to do my housework. |
I am right there with you!!!;) I was born and raised in Houston, TX! I was transplanted in "good ole East Texas", into a town of 3000! I hated it:mad: ...I'm now in the suburbs of the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex and couldn't be happier!!:p :p I sooooooooooooo sympathyze! |

I'm too old for this sh....." oppps...Stuff !! |

HAHAHA I need to put my GIRDLE on first so I can look SEXY:p :p :p ROFL BY THE WAY.....WHAT CLUBS. WE have church picnics :p And V you have NEVER seen so many women in print long dresses and tennis shoes in your LIFE here:rolleyes: |
I'm sorry you hate the country. BUT ME I love it I have lived in all my life I hate having to go to the city to fast for me, We have 13 acres on Lookout Mountain Ga alot of room for all my babies, There's not much crime here, people come from all over world to see this mountain the things that we have to offer, there are houses up here that the lowest is 1.3 million ( That is 4 miles down the road from me) It's building up to much for me. |
I wanted to move to the city, but it's soo expensive. I've always lived in the burbs, and now it's about 20mins farther from the city. I have family like 10mins away, so it's not that bad. Plus now w/ a mortgage, I won't be able to spend money in the city as much anyways, so maybe it's better that I'm farther :p |
LOL... I'm SO PATHETIC.. It's not even really COUNTRY here.. Kinda like SUBURB/ Country:p :p :p BUT... It's Church and football and soccermoms and stores closed on Sundays and NOTHING open late . I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not used to this even after being here all this time. OH YEAH...and all the freakin women EVERYWHERE in those dang print dresses and tennis shoes. JEEZ>>>>> I even have to wear a freaking BRA all the time and I HATE IT....LOL. Back in the city I could let those bad boys LOOSE:p :p :p :p :p :p |

Wow..now that's bad...I think I'm never going to complain about where I'm at again...well I'm sure I will, but I'll just come back to this post. :p |
Ok.....this is worse.... What about living 50 ft from your neighbor......and come home yesterday of her taking pics of the house.......hubby asks nicely what she is doing....and she replies........"we were just concerned that you were going to leave the boxes in the driveway!!!!", so we were taking pics to use to complain....(we are in a rental till we decide to stay here permanently)....OMG.....am I livid!!!! Well, we had spent all day Sunday cleaning the garage....yes...we use it for storage instead of the car.......so I finally got Hubby to take the boxes to storage and ORGANIZE! So here we are......not bothering anyone...kids stay inside...to young to drive or play loud music......and this NEIGHBOR has the nerve to complain about boxes that were being put into a Uhaul truck to take to storage.....or to the Goodwill....... Talk about P---ed......oh, the wrath of Shirley has come alive........Miss Nice Gal......well, she is long gone........ So, be grateful you dont have any nosey neighbors.....all you have to worry about is the "moooooooooing"......LOL |
I grew up in WVa hills and could not wait to leave there for the city life. people actually living close enough to just holler and talk , stores close enough for a walk, baby sitters, action, etc. I said "when i get married there will be no beans, taters and corn bread served on my table!" well guess what ........I miss that life. nothing more relaxing than sitting on the porch swing and listening to the birds. |
I'd love to live in the contry, unfortunately, I have to live in the city until hubby retires(probably 20 more years), then we can start thinking about buying some land out in the country and have as many dogs, cats and all kinds of animals. It will be nice not to worry about deed resticitions and homeowners associations. :mtongue: |
We have really enjoyed living in the country and here in the mountains. I wish I could say that I find time to get bored, but for me there isn't enough time in a day to do all the things I would like to get done in and about our place. My days are long cause I try to get in more than I guess I should. Looking back over the years raising our family, I loved going to all the kids sports activities, and we spent many of our anniversaries at the school band concert, as all three were in school bands. I wouldn't trade those times for anything, and the kids have so many good times to remember with their Dad and I. Hope you will get to like it better there, sorry but I can't relate to how you are feeling, wish there was something I could say to help you but don't know of anything. However, I do like what JeanieK said in her post here. I am reminded every day watching my husband struggle with the ability to be able to move, suffering from Parkinsons and I am loosing him to this horrible disease, its the hardest thing in the world. Life can be so fragile, be kind to yourself and try to think of ways to make it better there for your self and your family. Patti |

Hugs to you - I'm here if you need to talk. and Sherry - If I catch you wearing Tennis Shoes and a print cotton dress I'm coming to the country and taking pictures. I can just see it now - Sherry wearing a low cut gingham dress - showing off those bad boys:p |

WELLLLLLLLLLLL Sometimes I do show the bad boys but then you should SEE the looks I get out in public:p :p :p . I mainly try and conform because my teenage daughter gets EMBARASSED:rolleyes: SIGHHHHHHHHh I guess if I was always soccermom then I would not feel a loss...problem is... I was NEVER soccermom material. Nothing AGAINST anybody but I just don't see how somebody can live a whole life with nothing more exciting then mowing lawns and watching kids play sports and making beds etc. etc. etc.   I know some of you guys live for it .. but it just isn't me:( |

I LOVE that song !) |

My daughter says i am a MESS and can't i fix myself up. I call it giving up:( I have to admit it feels so good when we have to go somewhere, like once a year, and I get to pretend to be the old me:p My Daughter and hubby look at me like...JEEZ where did that person come from:rolleyes: |

You should see where I grew up at. The mountains of Southwest VA coal mining country. All of my uncles, grandfather, and father retired from the mines. Talk about the boonies. Where I went to school it was K-12. I went to the same school with the same kids for 13 years. Almost half of the staff and students were related to me whether first cousins or farther down the line. My graduating class had a little over 30 kids and it was one of the bigger classes, not a red light in sight, we did have a couple of stores so if we had to have gas or a few essentials before we got back out to the store. You know what though I didn't mind it, it's what you get use to and it was the only thing I ever knew. Needless to say I was into sports, Basketball, softball, some cheerleading and some track. Basketball was my favorite. Just hang in there who knows you may find something that you really enjoy and make some great friends that you can hang out with in the process. Sorry for rambling. |

You may have said this but where in MD are you? I think I have the best of both worlds I live in between DC and Baltimore but it's the suburbs. As a matter of fact my Dad has 8 acres here and can leave his house and be in downtown DC in 15 minutes. Maybe you should consider moving over this way if you can. We live in Laurel, MD it's great:D |

What part of WV did you grow up in. I'm orginially from Southwest VA. Heck we just had beans, taters and corn bread and fresh corn and tomatoes over the weekend. I do miss the peace and quiet from time to time. We are planning on eventually moving closer to VA. Not sure when that will be. Someday's it can't come fast enough. |
I am too fast for the country. I wouldn't be able to do it. |

I love that song! Now, when I hear it I'm going to think of you! I love having the option to do something all the time. There are times when I want to relax, but I hate being bored with nothing to do. |
