That's what I was going to say, too. Prilosec. My sis takes Zantac. It is over the counter, too, and works really well.

YEs!! Thats it!! Prilosac. My BF took that and he was fine afterwards. He's watching the hot sauce though. He loves spicy but won't eat it too often.

How do you know when to take it? I don't know what foods are causing this so am I supposed to take it daily? I hate being dependent on medicine :(

there are instructions on it. You take it for a week staright and thats it. Just don't forget to take it. It works like antibiotics you need to be consistent with it for a week.

I think all acid reflux meds are the same. YOu just take one pill a day. Works like magic. I take mine in the mornings. It doesn't matter if you take it with food or not or what time of day you take it as long as you take it once a day. It sux taking meds, but taking a pill a day is better than throwing up at night at least.

I am so sorry! This sounds horrible!:thumbdown How miserable for you to have to deal with!!!

I have no idea what it could be, but wanted to tell you that I am sorry you have to go through with this... Keep us posted on what you find out and what helps. ((BIG HUGS))

You are so sweet Meg :p Thanks, I will for sure let you know if/when I find out what it is. I just spoke to my specialist and he says its more than likely not due to my thyroid condition. So he is forwarding his notes to my primary care physician so she can run some tests. It's really miserable to wake up and be sick :( I'd rather be able to sleep comfortably. Poor Cocomo wakes up too and she leaves her cozy bed to comfort me :( poor baby.

I did do the exact same thing. What I have is called "GERD". I probably won't spell it right but here goes: gastro esophical reflux disease

It is cause when stomach acids going back up the esophogus. There is a flap in there that is suppose to open and close and it gets stuck in the closed position. The vomiting is horrible.

I didn't know what it was and it got so bad I was rushed to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack at 2:30 in the morning. It was the pressure that caused it. Now I take a little pill and it doesn't happen any more. Moral: don't wait too long to have this checked. Thinking I was having a heart attack was scary.

OMG that sounds so scary. The vomit is soooo horrible because I had my nose done two years ago and so all that acid makes my nose burn horribly besides the fact that I hate throwing up (Not that anyone likes it). I would freak if I thougth I was having a heartattack. So am I supposed to be on pills forever now??? I don't like that idea :(

I had the same problem and it was acid reflux along with an ulcer. I took prilosec before it went OTC and it worked great for a couple of years.

It gradually became much worse and began happening every night! I finally got a THIRD opinion and found out I had gall stones.


5 years after surgery and no problemo!

Acid reflux is what I was going to say. I used to throw up randomly after meals sometimes (no I wasn't bulimic). I've been on Nexium for a few years and I'm 100% better. Ask your Dr. about it. Feel better!!!!!!!!!:p

Do you eat a lot of tomato sauce? That has a lot of acid in it. My Dr. told me not to eat a lot of it. I said, "Yeah right, I'm Italian." LOL :p

My gosh I haven't seen you around in forever!!! Glad that my sickness brought you back to us :p I don't eat a lot of tomatoe sauce, infact I just have pasta once a week and I have tomatoe slices on my sandwiches but not a whole lot. Maybe it's a combination of foods, who knows. I will definetely discuss acid reflux with my doctor.
