I am the same way. That limits your spending and I only buy what I really want.

Is it possible for you to not carry your credit cards with you? Then if you see something in a store or online you won't have the means to buy it immediately. Maybe it will give you some time to think about whether or not you really NEED to make the purchase. Or are you the type that would just get your credit card and go back to the site to make the purchase?

If you want to start saving for a bigger house with a yard, maybe put so much money aside every month in a savings for that and the rest of your money can be for shopping. I'm not cheap and I pretty much buy whatever I want but I don't spend above my means and I make sure that I put money in a savings account every month so when I buy a house I will have money for that.

RE: the overflowing refrigerator/freezer--are you Italian? I'm 100% Italian so I was raised having an over abundance of food in the house. There's always enough food to feed an army. I am like that and everyone from my family is like that. My mom still cooks like she's feeding 20 people and she's really just cooking for her and my dad! Crazy! I think it's an Italian thing.

If you got the money honey then spend it. It sounds like you have your s**t together and your not racking up credit cards and putting yourself in debt and your keeping up your bills soooo WHY NOT. When it comes to wanting to save money for a house in the future then maybe you could try opening a seperate savings account and try and match what money you spend in fun shopping and put it towards you savings for a house (or whatever it may be). Just an idea....

It's funny listning to all of you talk about shopping... My mom swears I have something wrong with me. I HATE SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!! Now calm down girls don't get upset...LOL I don't know what it is but I have never liked shopping. I espicially HATE HATE HATE going to malls. I'm 24 years old and my mom makes me go with her once or twice a year to go and buy new clothes. Otherwise I would still be wearing the same s**t from highschool. I'm not sure what it is but I just can't stand it. The only thing I have somewhat found interest in is sandals lately. B/4 last summer I wore just tennis shoes or my old black addidas sandals (that were mens). I have learned to like some cute sandals and I own a couple pair now. I don't go shopping for them though. My mom picks them up for me and I let her know if I like them or not and give her the money if I keep them....LOL'

I have a house I rent out and it is awesome!! Extra money, the mortgage is paid monthy, and I can borrow against that house too! It is the best thing to do!!!! It is like mine own personal money tree!

But, maintainance and dealing with tenants kinda sucks, but oh well!!!

I suggest that to everyone!!

And, you can get a home equity loan on that house, and buy another rental house with that money!! You can be like a mini-Donald Trump!!

Sorry Can't help you I have the same disease! I am a shoe-a-holic. I'm in rehab for it. I'm on the pay as you go shopping program. If I can't pay cash I don't go shopping. I have all my credit cards paid off and not about to go charging them up.

I try really really hard to stay away from online shopping. Plus I really like instant gratification and I can't bring it home right away with online shopping.

However I do love it when I buy something online and its like you forget about it and then ding dong the door bell rings...yip hee...its like you bought it all over again!

You know Gina. If your worried about having too much stuff...you can always send it to me!!!:D :D :D

I enjoy shopping to, but you have to remember it's a luxury, and you should be privileged that you can spend that money. Is your husband ok with the fact that you buy like that? I guess if you have the money and he is ok with it, then there is nothing wrong with it, but if you want to stop then here is my suggestion, go visit a homeless shelter and see what it is like to live without the luxuries, I bet that would cure you real quick, we all are so fortunate to have what we have, and there are so many who have to go without, it so sad, I have never visited one, but I'm sure it would break my heart, specially to see kids have to live like that. I wish I had the money to donate or help the less privileged.

and i did it.... costed me 15.000 cheap only cause my brother did it for me.
took him 6 months though. didnt want a dime from me....only cause i had lent him money a fews years back and never paid me back... oh well chalk that one up.....

WOW!! you must have an amazing job that pays well. All I say is go for it my dad was statcked with money and I mean stacked and he never spent a dime always saving and where did it get him nowhere. Sad to say he has Alzheimers now and right before he got bad with it he signed all his money and rental property over to me and my sister. He did not even get to enjoy his money. I like most girls love to shop too, its in our genes ;) So Gina if you want to get a house with your boyfriend and get more yorkies how about this........

Stick pictures all over your house of yorkie puppies and beautiful large houses.
Then everytime you go to the fridge or cupboard you will see these pics and it will hopefully give you the incentive to save money.

I use to love blowing all my cash and maxing out my credit cards, but now there is something so worthwhile about saving money in a jar and watching it grow:thumbup:

Or you could try the drastic plan, which is to stick pics up of poor little children from the third world, who have no family, houses or food. That will deffinatley make you think before blowing $$$$ on handbags etc. :(

Me, too!!! I wish I could help you here. I love to shop as well and with online shopping, well it is just toooooo easy. I'm not in the poor house, but I do carry a credit card balance. I am trying to work on getting it paid down, but each month a pay a chunk (I'm talking $1000) and I swear it goes up higher yet!! I've been watching the Oprah thing and if I could afford to cut up my credit card I would. But, unless I get a new crown of private clients, I can only do my best here. At least my payments are made on time!

I use to shop and shop and shop...You know the old saying shop till you drop......well I did.
Then one day it smacked me in the face and I had to stay off EBAY, stay away from the stores as I had way way way too much stuff. So now I have controled it and don't hardly ever shop anymore.

I could use a little help as well. I just checked my credit card statement and I'm in shock! I sent a very big payment 2 months ago and I've pretty much almost spent what I paid off. I just can't help myself. And you know what? I have not gotten anything for myself. All that was spent was for the kids, house, pool, Gus, and eating out. All those little charges sure do add up! I'm going to have to pull a fast one to try and hide this one from Tim!

Oh my gosh!!!!:eek: I felt like I was reading about myself in your posts. I do the same thing. Just about everyday I am receiving an email from Kohl's...so I have to look to make sure I am not missing a "bargain". My husband says I can't go into a store without touching everything in there...I might miss a good deal if I don't look!

My frig, freezer and pantry are packed full...but things usually expire before I have a chance to use them....but when I bought it--it was on sale at a good price. My family and friends are just amazed at all the food...but I have trouble finding things to fix!?!?!?!?! So if you find out how to stop....let me know.

I have the exact same problem, and the bad part is I don't know where all the money goes. Coffee shops and restaurants I guess. I wish I had walls and walls of clothing to show for it but nooooo... I mean I pay all my bills on time and we have no debts, car payments or anything like that, but sometimes I think back at all the money I have spent, and I am like that's a brand new car right there... I wish I could just forget about my wallet for about a month and try to save some money.
Perhaps someone will make a rehab for us, and that's where we will pour our money???

Gina- you could always set up automatic deduction from your paychecks and have some money put into a savings account. That way, you never have access to the money in your paycheck- spend the remainder until your hearts content and you're STILL saving money!! I like to do this- I never miss the money because I never see it.

And it's really too bad you don't live closer to me... we're constantly running out of TP! We'll use napkins for a day or two until one of us remembers to get some at the store!:rolleyes:

Here's a great credit card tip that my mom gave me: Don't ever put anything on your credit card that won't be around when the bill comes. Plus, gas is so expensive as it is, I wouldn't want to pay for the gas and then have to pay the darn interest on that purchase, too.

You are just bored maybe you should find a hobby then you will not need to go online and shop anymore. You won't have time too or maybe stay at work longer. I believe you have a sickness you said how many bottles of shampoo:eek: and how rolls of toilet paper:eek: and you live by yourself, girl that's bad:rolleyes: . You need to keep your self busy during the day so you don't buy as much. Because like you said you don't need anything it's just you buy, buy, buy that sounds like boredum to me.
